Topic Disc priest vs Resto Druid (PvP)
Hey guys, Ive been getting heavy into pvp lately and was looking for some insight on the two class/spec combos. I have done them in the past (resto druid at 70+80)(disc priest at 80) But I know everything seems to have changed around a bit.
I liked the shields and the big heals of the disc priest. But the mobility of the druid was always fun.
Guess im stuck in between a rock and a hard place right now haha. If you guys have any upcoming stuff (patch 5.2) that would be awesome =D
Thanks in advance.

Like you said, it all depends on style. Druids have 10x the mobility of priests but priests bring shields, aoe fear, etc. This season neither of the two specs had much representation in higher rating arena, but both are being buffed and might be solid(priests will be really good imo, but that's just my opinion).
I've gotten to about 1700 doing casual RBGs as a holy priest and had a lot of fun doing that. Can't wait for 5.2 when h-priests get the 30% focused will. I didn't really enjoy my druid much in RBGs but that's just preference >< Maybe you like hots and travel form :P
**someone correct me if I'm wrong, but currently the top group heals in an RBG are something like:
I think next patch it'll be MW->h-priest->druid so either should be fine if you enjoy RBGs.
You didn't mention whether you were interested in randoms, RBGs, or arenas, so I'm coming at this mostly from an arena perspective.
In PvP, Disc is not in the best place. The bubbles we rely on in PvE are dispellable. We have little mobility. We have very little CC and no silences. Void tendrils can be DPSed down. If you spec into Psyfiend for another fear, they can be killed quickly. You can bubble/heal it, but its not always worth it. But mostly, its mana. We run out quickly and have only a few ways to regen it; Mindbender/Shadowfiend, which can be killed or CCed, and HoH, which is on a 6 min CD and can be interrupted. Rapture isn't as reliable as in Pve.
The well-known secret to beating a team with a dpriest is just run them out of mana. Facing other teams in arenas with a healer, when I'm running on fumes and about to go down, most all other healers are sitting comfortably at 70% or more mana. Except perhaps shammies.
On the other hand, resto's mobility is a huge boon. They bring loads of CC to the table, including interrupts, roots, and silences. Their mana is seemingly endless (I could be prejudiced about this though; its all relative >.>) They have few hardcasts and can spec into even more insta ones. And from what I understand, they're getting some large buffs next patch.
I say all this as someone who plays Disc in 2s. Why? My partner is awesome, we have a blast. I love Disc and bottom line, its the class I'm most familiar with and best at. As for Disc in 5.2, I'll let someone who is more informed address those changes and how they'll affect our PvP performance.
I think what it comes down to though, is play the class you enjoy the most. :)
