Unable to connect

Posted this a day or two ago in Customer Support.

I'm unable to pay for my account at the moment, so I created a trial to contact my guild, friends, and do various activities. However, very recently I've been unable to connect to a game server. I ran the repair tool, tried running WoW with administrative rights on my computer, and gave it a few days, and even tried multiple realms. None of that worked. Is there anything else that might be causing my problem?

A lot of times after server maintenance or if you are just having a hard time connecting to the game it's a good idea to power cycle the connection. This will clear out the DNS cache and allow the connection to build new connection information.

Here's how to power cycle:

1. Turn off all computers on the network
2. Unplug the power from the modem and the router (if applicable)
3. Wait about 1-2 minutes
4. Plug in the modem first and wait for it to completely boot up
5. If there was a router, plug the power back in and wait for it to completely boot up
6. Turn on the computers and try the game out

If that doesn't work try flushing the DNS: http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/ip-release-renew-and-flush-dns

Let me know what happens.

First off, thanks for the response.

Second, I tried flushing out the DNS using the command prompt via the link and it didn't let me in to the game server. Should I have waited for a few minutes before renewing the IP?

So after flushing the DNS you were able to log in, but it didn't let you get all the way to the game server?

Yeah. I'm able to sign into the game itself, and I get to the "success!" part. After that I wait for around 2-3 minutes, and it simply pulls up the realm list. I can repeat this as many times as I like and it does the same thing. If I click cancel and try picking another realm it gets stuck on "Logging into game server."

1. Delete the Battle.net Cache: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/deleting-the-battlenet-cache-folder-pc
2. Go into the World of Warcraft folder and delete the Cache folder.
3. Go into the World of Warcraft/Data folder and delete the other Cache folder.
4. Go into the World of Warcraft/WTF folder and delete the Account folder.

Test out the game and let me know what happens.

I deleted all of those folders, and I'm still stuck at "logging into game server." I feel as though a re-installation of the game might be my next step.

McAfee.

McAfee can sometimes interfere with the game. If you are willing to try, I would temporarily uninstall it to see if that helps. If you do want to try uninstalling McAfee, you will want to use the McAfee removal tool to ensure that it's removed properly.

Here's how to download the tool:

1. Download the removal tool from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
2. Click Save and save the file to a folder on your computer.
3. Navigate to the folder where the file was saved.
4. Make sure all McAfee windows are closed.
5. Double-click MCPR.exe to run the removal tool.

NOTE: Windows Vista and 7 users must right-click MCPR.exe and select Run as Administrator.

6. Restart your computer after receiving the message CleanUp Successful.
Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until the system is restarted.

Let me know what happens
