Hey guys! help me build a list of things we can all do. Maybe we can get this stickied. I'll update the list as you come up with activities! I'll do my best to write short descriptions of each activity. Please don't assume that i know what it is!
After we have a list we can submit votes for the favorite ones. this will help new GM's and officers choose popular things to do! Activities: --------------- 1- Loot Runs (Run through instances with guildies to stock the guild bank or to make some gold) 2- 3- 4- 5- 6- |

First off you should start with what type of guild you want to be. Are you gonna focus on raiding or gonna stay casual until the guild lvl's up?
Also which type of server are you on? After you state some of these things i'd be more than happy to share some ideas! |
|
|
This is saposed to be a community created gerneral list for reference by all. not server specific. not guild specific. just a fun list for reference activities. please share with us.

Transmog runs - Ulduar and the like
Pet Battle contests - Can run one the way people do billiards matches Raids - Self explanatory Old Content for Achieves - Self explanatory Old Raids that drop pets PVP activities ... Someone who PVPs can fill this in Group Questing World Bosses Rare Spawn Hunting Games - Betting on how many people will fall into Elegon hole in LFR from outside the guild for example. We used to bet on who will get ice tombed in DS on Hagara. LFR as a guild Guild roll-offs on stuff they like such as pets, blood spirits, bags, and other desirables Transmog contests Screenshot contests Mount runs - Amani bear runs, etc I'm not a creative person by any means and it took me barely a minute to come up with that. |

Fishing derbies, to level those achievements; much more fun in a group. Borean Tundra with its bloody pools works great for this.
Critter killing runs: Gathering folks in EPL or non-instance ZG and other places for rampant critter slaughter for achievements. Open marketplaces: popular for RP, crafting items or finding rare vendor items to sell/giveaway. In game auctions (for actual gold or pretend, depending), these are popular around Love is in the Air. These can also be translated to non-RP; maybe win a "date" with a tank/healer who will take you to a dungeon/raid of your choice. Get a group for transmog runs. Can also help raise funds for the bank if low. Run a social bar/coffee shop/book club in game. Pretty popular on RP servers. Help some newbies: everyone crafts some bags, basic armor, weapons, consumables, and runs around low level zones handing them to new characters. Some of these suggestions are really good for general community, not just your own guild; it's a great way to make alliances and find recruits. |

Guild LFR's are my current favorite, it's a total blast to "dominate" the LFR and ensure a smooth run, plus get some gear for new 90's. Bringing both tanks makes it especially fun, and guildies get to know each other.

Naked gnome races
PvP Wargame/Skirmish tournaments Scavenger Hunts for random locations, grays, or rares Dungeon races (pick a set number of dungeons to do and race to finish them, great fun way to gear up people) Naked or vendor set old raids (have everyone wear white vendor gear or be naked and do Firelands or something for the giggles) War Drive - a competition for earning the most points based on donating needed items to the guild bank, such as herbs, ore, pots, etc Simon Says vanity pet contest (mounts work too) - "Simon" will call for a pet and everyone with the pet will pull it out and get a point, its funny to see like 30 people with a lamb out at the same time, lol |

We have a really fun event that we do about every 3 months.
We call it - The Amazing Race - RD Style! Here's how we did it. 1) Pick special places in WoW that pretty much any level can get to.. we kept things in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. Places like Uther's Tomb, The Goblin Statue in Booty Bay, The tomb in Blackrock Mountain. 2) We came up with riddles/clues leading from one point to the next. 3) We had an officer alt (unguilded and unknown so they can't be tracked on guild or friends list) parked at each point. When they reached that point in the leg of the race they got the clue from that officer that would lead them to the next. 4) Make the clues easy enough so that someone familiar with the basic lore of the game could figure it out, but not so hard that they are totally lost. We also included instances that could be soloed and required them to bring something from the loot table to prove they were there. Have each person that is the clue giver macro their clue to be given out so they just have to whisper it to the person that finds them. 5) We noted start and end times because we staggered when they left by 2 mins. so that nobody just followed someone else. 5) We offered prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We allowed members to work in groups if they wanted, but the prize would be split among the group if they chose to do that. Make the prizes pretty amazing so that people WANT to participate. Last time we gave 10k gold for first place, 5k gold for second, and 2.5k gold for 3rd. The next one we're working on now will have one of the JC crafted mounts plus gold for first, rare pets plus gold for 2nd and 3rd. Here is a sample of what we used for the last "Race" we had: Starting Point: (Stormwind Cemetary) <need: to note time of individual departure> [send off to Westfall] Clue given: Seek instruction at the Guiding Light of Westfall. - This sends them to the lighthouse in Westfall. Stop 1: (Westfall Lighthouse) [arrival from Stormwind Cemetary] Next Clue: Take Vengence upon those the Light guides. Seek them in the mines and bring proof of the leader's demise to the place where the Lightbringer's Light shines still. - This tells them to go to the Deadmines and get an item from the bosses loot table and take it to Uther's Tomb in Western Plaguelands. Stop 2: (Uther's Tomb) <need: Loot table for end mob in Deadmines> [arrival from Westfall] Next Clue: Your heart is true. My instruction you'll heed. Find the one arm man, guarding a haven of Greed. This clue tells them to go to the Goblin Statue in Booty Bay harbor. Stop 3: (Jeniero's Point - One armed goblin statue outside of Booty Bay) [arrival from Uther's Tomb] Next Clue: From one tomb to another I now bid you fly. From here to a place where Dead Dwarf lies. Under the Rock, dark as the night's sky. Above a Span of fire his mourners do cry. This clue tells them to go to Forgewright's Tomb in Blackrock Mountain. Stop 4: (Forgewright's Tomb, Blackrock) [arrival from Jeniero's Point] Next Clue: How quickly you found, this tomb of the dead. Seek out the Library, in the Church of Red. At the end of the wing, you'll find him reside. Hunt down and kill the Arcanist inside. Bring to the Radiant Master, his head. Or anything else he might carry instead. To a City not there is where to take it. Carry it down, to the bottom of a pit. This clue tells them to go to Scarlet Monestary Library, Kill Arcanist Doan, and bring an item from the loot table to our Guild Leader at the Dalaran Ruins pit in Alterac Mountains. Final Stop - Finish line! (Dalaran Ruins - Alterac Mtns) <need: loot table of Arcanist Doan and must note time of arrival> The person that finishes the FASTEST (not necessarily first) wins the prize. We had an awesome time with this. Officers were on mumble laughing our rears off with people heading the wrong way, getting lost, and amazed with those that really knew their lore. |

We like to play COW DARTS.
Not sure if you've done this one, but everyone makes a level one tauren with some sort of meat reference in their name (I'm clearlybeef). I pitch myself off a bridge in thunderbluff, then everyone aims for my body. We do about five rounds with a prize for each. Simple little game, team building, and fun for all. :) |

Fishing derbies, to level those achievements; much more fun in a group. Borean Tundra with its bloody pools works great for this. I love the "Help the Newbies" option! |

One thing I have yet to see on this topic is this.

Someone probably mentioned this, but one of my guilds once did a silent auction when our gbank was getting too full (they auctioned off the more valuable stuff like boe blues etc, not like... a stack of silverleaf). It was fun.
Also, TriviaBot is always a lot of fun. Perhaps you could give small prizes for highest score or longest win streak, but then again you don't want people googling things for the prize. My guildies and I always had a lot of fun playing without any reward (aside from bragging rights :p). Dungeon races (pick a set number of dungeons to do and race to finish them, great fun way to gear up people) I love this idea! One of my old guilds actually did this once and it was fun. We split into 2 5-man groups and seen who could beat the other to finishing. |

"Where in the world is..." An unguilded toon hides each week. We post a clue on our website. This time around it's a snapshot with some visual and verbal clues to unique hidden spots in game. We've also done it with various clues regarding lore. Then the toon logs on at a specific time. Whoever has found the toon recieves a prize.
Weekly mount runs. We do a twilight drake run every week. Quick and easy. So many others we do randomly too. We once all made gnome alts on another server and descended on Stormwind and Goldshire. We've had naked gnome runs. Every now and again we'll just decide to go log on in a large disorderly group and dance in the fountains or follow strangers around town. Completely goofy, but it has us laughing in vent for a bit. We've had a 'Max Toon for Hire' night to run lower level alts and newbies through dungeons. No cost of course! I love the Amazing Race idea. May have to try that one! |

If you use the same clues as the one I posted above, keep in mind that the instances (Deadminds and Scarlet Monestary) have changed since we did that particular race and I'm not sure they are still applicable. |
How many do you need for the raid of the week stuff... I think it's 8 but I am not sure |

Well, not 50+, but we do...
- guild LFR two times a week. LFR is a lot less painful when full guild group each time. (Well can still be painful, but at least you're in vent laughing about it) - transmog contest (we do a monthly theme--matching mount, matching npc, most unlike your class type, scariest, etc.--I do winner gets to pick the theme of next month b/c I ran out of ideas a long time ago--and former winner gets to be my co-judge so no whispers of favortism--ironically after a year of running transmog contest, as much as I love and think tnrasmog is cool, I have no opinion either way, so am still perfectly neutral) - mount contest--running of mammoths, everyone w/ dino mount now, or vial of sands/legendary mount etc Fun of coming up with mount theme plus perfect place to host it. If you do everyone with turtle mount, well then area of shore where lots of baby turtles, etc. Always had big turn out for this - pet tourny. Sigh, it started off with such a bang and now I have to harass the winning brackets to hurry the hell up or I'll just arbitrarily flip for winner. - split into groups of 2 and see who can race thru all the ICC raids the fastest (this was fun and edge on seat when I did this last) - farming stuff -- not sure how applicable now, but pre patch, we'd do monthly farming stuff to relieve the load off guild farmers (mostly fishing/herbing) -- but I think this doesn't apply so much with changes -KS boss / Black Prince - just mentioning this b/c people are shy. I've been doing this weekly for GOD KNOWS HOW LONG. It kinda annoys me b/c I've helped over and over, and like Player A never helps again, while Player X helps many times. Anyways, to facilitate this, I schedule a time right before my raid where I browbeat my raid group into helping whoever is on that step of quest. After raid, me and the usual 2-3 bloodthirsty others, will drag the lucky quester thru the 2 necessary BGs. Does make it less painful. B/C our guild is now kind of large, I post a daily message about Black Prince quest and to whisper me if close. Get feedback a lot (so do this 2-3 times a week for people in guild) - dino booones! We've had fun splitting into groups of 2-3 and killing dinos for eggs. Me and like 4 people did this for hours the other night while we all watched Jurassic Park. 3 of us got the mount. (edit: I was only one who didn't btw b/c RNG and velociraptors hate me) - Warbringers. Another guild bonding moment. We've also formed groups of 2-3 and done this. Once you know where they spawn cake. You don't even need to have a regular tank. I've done this as lock tank, and seen it tanked fine as hunter (also see dinos). |

Also, I advise to those having problems filling roles or above contests to opening up to server.
At one point I had like 40 people participating in my transmog contest, then dwindled down to like 3... so I opened it up to server. Immediately got like half a dozen whispers from my dying realm trade wanting to participate/join. Really I was happy with the 3, but more the merrier and thought it would whip up more competition (it did). Next month had lots more contestants. Parade of mounts, achieve runs, need 2 more for full guild LFR, whatever, bring it to server first, if you are looking for more guildies or just a happy server vibe. I've yet to have zero responses from any of my activities. Everyone complains about death of community but I see few trying to bring it back. For the Alliance runs (which I only run every 4 months because such a headache) are also very very popular, especially when I market it to people that hate PVP but want mount and PVPers that want to protect the wimpy PVErs/shut down horde city. Warning: be careful and pick those you trust b/c you will have a jerk or two that runs to horde to rat (I cover this by having my own spies on horde trade--no one there has ever cared) and by only bringing it to other GMS/RLs versus in trade. I never ever do FTA in trade. To those that say that Guild Ads are ineffectual, I do whisper those that run a guild advert and ask if they're ok with combining for a PVP raid (if they say their guild is PVP based) and I dunno, 75% I get a OMG YES, other times "Nah not interested" which is odd, but okay. Also...now that older raids are cross server, if you are looking to build a cross server "alliance" or whatever, do some scenarios. I know...scenarios...but I do one a day, b/c it takes like 5 minutes and it's paid off tons. I now have like 5 real id GM friends cross server, and whenever one of our guild raids are short, we go to them first (oh need 1 healer for MV or a DPS for HOF, have any one handy?)...or achieve runs (doing herald of titans)...scenarios are great for meeting people if you say "hi" and keep it somewhat chatty as you AOE along the path. |
