I'm currently playing almost exclusively on WrA, and the RP there is plentiful and usually very open. I'm considering trying Argent Dawn, but I'd like to know how much RP there is on the server, and what it's like if there is any. I'd like to get as many responses as possible, as I know from experience that going based on what 2 or 3 people say in this game is a bad call.
Hi Gravebreaker! To answer your question: There is still some roleplay on this realm. Obviously, there are no doubt better alternatives to this realm if all youre after is roleplay though. Argent Dawn used to have much more roleplay on it a few years ago, but it's gotten old. However, Argent Dawn is still thriving, and one would say it is actually being revived! Slowly but surely of course.
Argent Dawn is a realm perfect for people who want to roleplay but also to raid, pvp, etc etc. If you're looking for nothing but roleplay, your current realm might be best. If you want roleplay as well as other things, you just might enjoy your stay! Of course, you'll have to find the right guild and meet people who roleplay to get into the community of it, but I'm sure you'll have no problem doing so.
All in all, I suggest you give Argent Dawn a try. Just stay away from Goldshire of course. :)
RP on Argent Dawn is still alive. On both Horde and Alliance there's a channel called UnitedAD which RPers use to communicate OOC and set up IC events. There are also many guilds that RP that are not involved in the channel.
My personal experience with RP on AD is that there are many high quality RPers... This goes with AD being one of the original servers. RPers on AD are closely knit but are always welcoming.
That being said, it is not an incredibly active server but there is RP most nights. I suggest you make a toon over here to test the waters before spending any of your hard-earned cash. Like Belial said, it's a good server to play on if you're not looking for RP exclusively but also enjoy raiding, old world content, PvP. and a quieter but friendlier community of players.
Trolls aren't tolerated in channel. Expect to trip and fall right out of it if you're behaving badly.
I wouldn't say AD is a better or worse server than other servers, simply that AD isn't a high pop server when it comes to RPer density. RP is not perpetual here. You won't likely walk into a place and come across RP in the wild (though an increasing number of folks are doing random cold rp (rp with someone and see if they get rped back) with crzed people and getting a positive response.)
Someone went round and approached all the known RPers and encouraged them to take the free transfers to WRA to create a RP paradise. Many left but this is arguably not a bad thing. Most of the bads, thegodmoder dargons, catgirls, vampires, lorebreakers, etc were among those that got out of dodge. You won't find a whole flight of Dargons in Silvermoon or a Queen of Lorderon parading around Stormwind. Hell, I'm told things like ERP are scarce to non-existent here, even in pornshire.
RP happens both in and out of guilds. Player run events and adventures are not uncommon, though there is a fair share of ye olde tavern sitting. People usually announce when they are in the mood for rp and their location. (I ran a plot last friday to recover stole goods from thieving goblins who are in cahoots with something much more sinister. I'd tell you moe but... spoilers.)
We like to get new players. Several of us, who run plot events, especially those who play lore plausible, are mindful of the ic implications in character weaving, and conform to ica=icc. People who play this way make our lives so much easier.
There's a time for sillies and a time for behaving.
I enjoy sillies as much as the next troll but when I'm improvising a plot, dualboxing, setting a scene, and engaging 4-6 people in interaction my brain is the overloaded. I'm seriously out of practice on my on-the-fly plot BSing skills.
Threats of violence. We take these seriously and will alert the proper authorities.
