Blizzard generally does not announce such things in advance - and quite frankly, due to Blackberry's increasingly-dwindling market share, it's unlikely that Blizzard is going to be spending development time (and money) on such an endeavour.

I have heard that some players are able to get the Android APK working via Playbook. Have you tried that?

NO - and you may want to research a little more -- RIM just sold 1 million units of Z10 to a single user and their stock has risen over the last month - THey were dwindling but are on the rise and by excluding RIM development you are risking losing customers like myself who have been with BLizzard since the OG release of Diablo.

Sorry dont know much about the smartphones ( I only use my cellphone for phone calls crazy I know)

But cant you use the SmS protect with the smartphone or is that an app as well.

As for the whole rim dying thing you have to understand that in the us media they have been saying over and over rim is dying so people believe it.

It'll be better to ask there.

SMS Protect ( https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/battlenet-sms-protect ) is also a valid way to protect your account.

I don't work for Blizzard - which is why my statement was not a "no". Just a "not likely", based on recent trends. And because players are perfectly welcome to purchase the keyfob version (which works anywhere, without device restrictions), any customers "lost" would be lost due to their own stubbornness.

You can find more information on SMS Protect here:

It is totally not an app, so it's good on the BlackBerry.

Acualy no. they say they sold one million but can't name the person that bought them which basicly means the deal is not done yet. 1 million units is not going to save Balckberry. Lets put it in perspective 900,000 droids a day are sold. Most business analysts are saying its to little to late.

the SMS protect is way too easily hacked...... Cloning a cell number is way too easy.... I want the app. COnsidering BB Z10 works off an android profile, it really shouldn't be that difficult... you have what 1000 programmers working for you?

You can buy a physical authenticator at cost from the Blizzard store.

I don't suppose you actually read my original comment, did you?

You keep using this "you" pronoun... I don't think it means what you think it means.

Blizzard has somewhere in the order of a hundred or so programmers (you can scroll the credits and count for yourself, if you'd like), spread out between all of their franchises.

They have an extremely small mobile development team - single digits, as I recall. They don't really have enough people to devote resources to "niche" operating systems - like BlackBerry or Windows Mobile - the same way that they don't have enough people to devote resources to things like an official Linux game client. There's not enough demand to justify the investiture of time - or money.

Also...

Considering how blatantly illegal this is, do you really think somebody's going to do that just to steal a WoW account? Really?

If you want the devs to make an authenticator app for your phone, you best make a post in General. The devs do not come here for feedback.

actually, you pay blizzard for access to the servers, nothing more.

account security is and always will be your responsability, blizzard has chosen to offer security options for both free, on supported devices, and at cost, (meaning they make no money from them by only charging you what they had to pay the vendor, also means except in rare circumstances they pay the shipping) in the keyfobs. they are no way required to do this at all.

you have chosen a currently unsupported phone. and you have chosen to rule out the physical authenticator as an alterntive

thus you have chosen to leave your account vulnerable.

To be fair, Pah... Considering some of the other blatantly illegal things that have been done just to steal WoW accounts, it wouldn't surprise me if they thought about trying it.

More likely to stop it would be the ... Signal to noise is the only comparison that I can come up with.... 9+ million players vs the 7+ billion global population (all VERY estimated....). It wouldn't really be worth it to try this. Too much effort for too little gain, I would guess.
