Going holy and dropping disc. (PVE)
You are in full PvP gear at the moment. While PvP gear has been made to work a bit better in PvE (i.e. Spirit + an additional secondary), it is still underbudget for a PvE item of the same ilvl.
Aside from that, your gear is not fully gemmed. I would recommend favoring Spirit gems if you go Holy or Disc. If you find Disc is working and you are managing mana well you can cut back on Spirit gems (do Spirit/stat hybrid or Intellect).
If you require more subject on optimizing and playing your character, I will refer you to the Holy and Disc guides on howtopriest.com
For those curious, I would like to point out that Nightsttorm & Woaden (maybe others?) are speaking in terms of 25man. Personally, I find Holy simply amazing in 25man in 5.2.... even though Blizzard didn't do a whole lot to change it. However, in 10man, it doesn't feel as great. Thoughts?
Was fine for me in a 10 man setting:
Holy 10 man logs:
Disc 10 man logs:
I was experimenting the two specs in our normal clears now that we're getting into heroic modes. I was testing to see:
- how much aoe healing was being pushed on hard aoe fights
- how much of a percentage of healing was being done to the tanks
- how much dps both specs were pushing (I start most fights in red chakra as holy)
- how many raider deaths we averaged on the encounters
There are some fights in heroic mode I'm going to do as holy and some I'm going to do as disc. I didn't notice a big difference on mana as long as I was optimizing the spec. Mana was free-flowing if the encounter had light healing requirements, and just right on the more intense ones. My gear and stats was the exact same between the tests (spirit>int>haste to 16.6%>mastery>crit). On fights with a damage taken multiplier, I could do more damage as disc over holy as I could damage while not neglecting healing duties.
But overall, disc and holy performed the same. Holy has more healing power, disc can be more proactive, both can push good throughput, both have enough mana (yes, holy properly played has enough mana).
My hangups are pretty much the same as last tier: holy needs a shorter cooldown on chakra stances, sanctuary needs to be worth casting. Disc needs absorbs to work with twist of fate and atonement is too mana efficient, which devalues casting single target heals.
But TLDR, play whichever spec if fun/works for you.
