Topic Questions :P
Hey everyone. I have run guilds before, but this is my first time attempting at running a PvP/Raid guild. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice or suggestions they could give to me and my officers about running a successful raiding/pvp guild? Would love to hear what you all have to say :P
Um...we will be doing all around pvp, Rated bgs, arenas together, world pvp, if its pvp...we will do it, As for times and ratings, we don't even have those yet. we JUST started so a new guild. and yes, we can be a raiding/pvp guild. We will have both raiders and pvpers in the guild and intend on being able to do both. Seeing as we are new we are still a small guild but looking to build our member basis which I know is step 1. I need the advice so I know the right way to make sure we can be successful in both raid and pvp. I saw tons of Pvp/Raid guilds on the server I moved from, and yes...they were successful unfortunately before I left I forgot to ask what made them successful. The industry? well obviously both pvp and raids. My market? Pvp and Raid...Hence the Pvp/Raid. When I say we are new...well, we were just created yesterday! I do not expect to get told there is no such thing as a pvp / raid guild because obviously there is...Mine :P We will be doing old world content as well as new world content, raid and pvp achievements together, rated bgs, world pvp, regular battlegrounds, arenas. We just need advice on how you can do this. Our guilds direction will be to be a pvp/raiding guild.
pvp/raid is easy to merge but at some point ull want dif ranks for both so broadcasts on calender can be seperated when choosing who to send to
beyond that, u want atleast one ur main players the tanks and lead usually at minimum to goto tankspot or sometiems u find stuff on youtube or curse.com and watch the fight takes 3-5 min usually and u see the idea
our mandatory addons pve, all with dbm (and dbm interupts and spelltimers if u can) if possible, all with vent even if they can only listen
heals - healbot or healium
dps - omen
our mandatory addons pvp for all, dbm with pvp module, vent, healers must die, incoming
heals - healium or healbot
anybody - atleast one person should get bgspy
u might need bug sack and bug grabber if u get any errors to keep them out ur face, always good to keep that on
and in pvp u might want to add female announcer, its more of a fun addon, but as dps or anybody it does help to have a voice say soemthing when u kill soemthing, because every so often ur not sure and that voice saying killign blow etc comes in handy on acheivments
setups and teams
-pve 2 tanks, 2 heals 5 dps, 1 dps/offheal
-pvp 6 dps (1tank/dps) 3 heals 1 dps/offheal - in pvp it helps to have a dps class that can become a tank if need be and a heal that can be super fast as in run speed
- 15m pvp
1 tank/dps, 5 heals, 9 dps - need a heal that can be super fast here also
-10m pve makeup
dps - split range and melee divide em even, offheal/dps should be ranged
healer - druid pallie preist (can swap a monk)
tank - warrior pallie or warrior dk, dk pallie if have to (dk and pallie can be squishy, warrior wont be) warrior can be bear (warrior is normally single target and dk pallie is normally aoe, but dk gets aoe issues and bear can do aoe if needed)
-10m pvp makeup
dps, 2 stealth, 2 range, 2 melee
4 of , monk preist shammie druid pallie as logn as different - pandas and druids make fast heals as in run fast
-15m pvp makeup
dps makeup for 15 man pvp, 4 stealth 2 dps 3 range
heals one of each - shammie druid preist monk pallie
any 1 tank/dps
Any time u have multiple dps of same role, try to get different ones, so say u need 3 range dps, get mage hunter and then either lock or boomie or spreist but get different oens then u have healers if possible as well, the entire point is stacking buffs, if ur using as many dif classes as possible the better ur buffs with be,
if u do need to double up, dps only classes are mean doubles, 2 hutner, 2 rogue 2 mage, 2 lock
thats kind fo the basics a leader needs to udnerstand, on numbers for 25 man, do same as raid finder, 2tank, 6 heal, 17 dps, divide dps evenly melee range
also soem bosses will take special team setups soemtiems maybe all range or etc, and some pvp teams u might need to adjust to if u play them often

our basic rank and bank structure
and the above might be complicated but its best practice liek average setups, ull need to tweak some depending on what u face and almost mandatory, that tanks and raid lead watch the fight atleast once before ur first attempt on pve
and of course pve gear for pve and pvp gear for pvp dont mix them unless u ahve noc hocie onw eapons or something
new rule on pvp u need to be aware of - used to u had a cap per week if u missed the first week u were behind the rest the season, now itll rollover and stack if u get behind up to 10k, dont ever go past that 10k behind though or u will be behind liek it used to be if u missed first week
i tried to give u basic group setups and ranks and procedures on bank all combined, im not real sure what u need help on exactly? hopefully all this data can be sifted through, i do have screwed up finger so apologize for typing lol
scheduling, usually after work 5-7 pm is when most are on
edit thats even in a fairly international guild with people from all over lol from asia and aussie to texas and hawai - it still seems like most get on after what would be normal work day in america
also expect shifts, ull get day crowd, evening crowd, and late night crowds
That's not likely. And that's what Sub's getting at. Both raiding and pvp (assuming you'd like to be serious and competitive at both) take commitment and dedication from the leadership. I'm not saying you aren't planning to be dedicated to both tasks, but you can't be equally dedicated to both tasks simultaneously if you expect high-end results. You can have a raiding guild that enjoys pvp, and you can have a pvp guild that enjoys raiding, but it's nearly impossible to do both to a competitive degree within the same guild. The managerial aspects and the overhead alone would be outrageous. You would need dedicated leaders for both activities, times and days that don't ever overlap, and if you're assuming you're going to have people who want both activities, how are you going to prevent burnout, either from your raiders or pvpers? How are you going to handle it when your best PvPer decides he's done pvping but wants to continue raiding? And then, let's assume you're going to have completely separate groups; in other words, your pvpers and your raiders are completely different people. How do you handle it when your raiders want the guild to cater solely to them? When your pvpers get frustrated because someone misses a night and wants one of your raiders to come along, but oops, it's a raid night? How to you intend to enforce separate rules, regulations, rewards, bank tabs, etc. The leaders of each group (assuming you're planning to delegate) will run to YOU as soon as they're in over their heads, and YOU will be responsible for fixing every single issue. What you WANT is a logistical nightmare.
CAN it be done? Well, anything's possible. But know what you're getting yourself into first.
Thank you Diamondjaxx! You gave me a lot of great information, I wrote and took notes as I learned from you. I appreciate the great tips and advice from you.
Hi Maraangel... What Sub really means is you are not going to excel in both... Kind of like the jack of all trades but master of none.. mentality
Raiding and running Rated BGs focus on two separate aspects of the game and are a handful in and of themselves to get up and off the ground running.
You stand a better chance of success if you pick one or the other as your guilds main focus.. That does not mean you can not Dabble in the other,, but your main push will be just that one thing.
Your focus will change how you recruit good raiders do not always make good pvpers and visa versa. Esp if you want to excel in the chosen area
Now you if you do not care about progression or rankings and just want to have fun, maybe doing both will work,,, but eventually some of your team members will get tired of just having fun and want some serious progression or rankings and when they do, they will leave because you can not offer them that
So first decide what you want to focus on Raiding or PVP and then build your vision with from that main goal
why dont u get a raid leader and a pvp leader and let them both have a shot instead :)
and get rid of quester on my listing can seperate raider and pvper that way and leads would be same rank but they arent the rank that needs the invite on calendar so it would work, for pvp and raid only, u wouldnt have a solo person category
why dont u get a raid leader and a pvp leader and let them both have a shot instead :)
Diamondjaxx .. Do you remember what it was like just getting your guild off the ground? Focusing on one goal is going to be taxing enough,, focusing on two is grounds for trouble
I am not saying she can not do both eventually, but she needs to start out with one main focus and get that up and running
Recruiting for a guild that is going to do everything but right now is doing nothing is not going to go over real well.. recruitment is not easy on even the populated realms.. This mid to near end of the tier. which means raid wise she is competing against established raiding guilds for recruits, the same with RBGs -- her group is going to be competing against established rated groups... this is not going to be easy to recruit for.
If you are a decently geared player either pvper or raider and your looking for a guild who are you going to pick the guild that is actively progressing in the area of your interest or the guild that says they are going to be offering both raiding and pvp but right now does neither?
Once the guild is active and is either raiding consistently or has a good rated BG rating and is running a team only then should she look to add the other component, if there is sufficient interest
Trying to do both with all that you have to do in MoP can be grounds for quick burnout.
My primary focus will more then likely be raiding, but I do intend on starting off with both, of course once I have the necessary leaders to take part in leading them. (This is maraangel on another toon btw...Just didnt feel like switching to Mara to respond....lol)
theres no reason for her to not go ahead and set up her guild ranks how she can accordign to her plan so itll be self functioning as she goes and getting started
cant sit there saying cant and accomplish it either

get u 3 officers x3, first group is in charge of recruiter, thats their job make sure the guild always has a active recruiter (grow the officer group as u grow everythign else, get mroe then oen elader assigned to same teams as well as u grow, try to nvr put all the wieght of any one thing on any one guildie always spread it across a few, and nobody will ever get bruned out
other two same thing with raid leader and pvp leader
and tell ur guildies to goto what the leaders put on the calender (recruiter can dobule as party planner to for events, we gain alot of guildies just havign parties lol and keep leveling ur guild ie play and have fun
make sure ur recruiter understands the type of person u want and make sure ur leaders doint treat people wrong and ull have time to gear urself and go with raids when they go if u want or etc
recruiter can sit in raid pvp leader rank
its raider and pvper ranks u have to keep seperate, not leaders, ur recruiter is a leader all under the oversight of the officers, none of that is ur job once its set up and then u no longer have anything u have to do concerning it it is the officers responsibility, urs is to make sure its set up right and people are in those positions and give them the go ahead to do their job, or tell them if u need to replace em etc - otherwise have fun do whatever u want i spend alot of time in bg hehe have to cap conquest two weeks behind this season on this guy that is, 375 days playtime on him, hehe and get the new honor set as welll over next few days - as far as the comments on my raid on this character, idc i just want to over come that dang 500 resource advantage in ab so i can get battle master lol and add another title
edit: we call them officer committees and u can make them have comittee meetings every week, then every two, then once a month as u stabalize
