ElvUI
Recount
Omen (blank square)
WeakAuras
Big Wigs for raiding (or DBM is BigWigs is bad for a specific fight).

Also, every tank should use the External Cooldown WeakAura and every bear should use the TnC WeakAura (tracks the absorb). So good, the both of them!

I'll get a screenshot during the raid tomorrow with everything running =D

It's the default icon that comes up from the "External Cool down" Weak Aura.

http://pastebin.com/f0ecWr62

I moved Bone Shield because it stacks on top of the others when used. Other wise it tracks everything perfectly!

And the TnC one

http://pastebin.com/CWGejaaN

I can't remember who I got them off, but they're amazing nonetheless xD

Bartender
Bison (for the buff/debuff bars)
Sexymap
Skada
Omen
SUF for player/target/party frames (Party frames usually hidden when raiding)
Powerauras to track procs, certain buffs (Shield block) etc.

http://i.imgur.com/h6fuaPV.jpg

The only abilities I have shown on my bars are ones with cooldowns or certain things I need to keep track of, all my bind bars are hidden.

The only change I've made since then is Filter Buffs/Debuffs to abbreviate after 25 characters.

I notice you have your buffs up next to your minimap, have you considered moving them down next to your actionbars so that your eyes only really need to look mainly at the bottom half of your screen for your important abilities rather than all over the place? I have found this immensely helpful while tanking. It would also make it somewhat easier to eye your rage bar ;)

Most of my self-buffs and important buffs pop up on my Unit Frame as well (things like Barrier, Block, Ultimatum, SnB, Enchant procs, Enrage, Pain Suppression, Ironbark ect), so I don't really end up looking up there all that much. That combined with spell alerts (Standard Blizzard ones) and Weakauras I'm used to having my buffs out of the way of my vision and if I need to track something, I figure out a way to bring it down closer to where my eye naturally falls.

Other than that I don't really care about tracking Riptide's duration on me, as an example.

Is that what tells you how much you're going to absorb? (It looks like there's a number on it in the first screen shot.)

Yes it is; the addon is "smart" in the sense that it tells you how much you're "going" to absorb with Barrier (based on damage patterns in the last like, four seconds or so) versus how much you're "going" to block thanks to monitoring damage over the same duration. It also graphically (through filling up the square green and then chipping away parts of the fill) tells you how long your buff will stay up, and updates Barrier's absorb amount remaining whenever you're hit.

The main problem with this is that it sometimes it ends up telling you certain things without giving you the whole picture; I only really advocate using it if you actually know how your abilities work and what the boss is hitting you with. Other than that you'll only get your mitigation right about half of the time on average.

Also I don't think the addon's author is maintaining it anymore, so positioning it is kind of a pain, since you have to go into the lua natively and hard-code its position yourself; also you have to fix Barrier's calculation by hand (which I can put here if people are interested, it's just a number change) since the AP scaling was nerfed in 5.2 slightly. (I may or may not try to work on that for myself at least, because that's annoying as hell >_<)

Also if you're going to try out ElvUI, you can entirely disable parts of it, like Unit Frames (if you want to use SUF); I run with Nameplates off because I use Tidy Plates+Threat Plates (have since Wrath, no point going away from them now), and if I wanted to I'd disable nameplates for something like SUF if I couldn't stand them...but honestly they're fairly customizable so I'm okay keeping them around.

You can also track the absorb amount through weak auras!

/whisper If you want to at least.

:D

I also advocate doing this if you don't use Shield Maid; having some way to keep up your Barrier absorb number's pretty good.

That basically kills it for my alt warrior. :-/

I also am going to disable the nameplates and go back to tidy plates/threat plates. Now I just need to get the raid frames to not show x2 debuffs on me, and my target to show the buffs/debuffs I want to see.

I'll also probably reinstall needtoknow so that I can track procs a little better. I LIKE that stuff shows up at my character (super nice for SoTR) but I think there's a little too much going on there- prolly have to blacklist some procs and stuff. I'm also probably going to reinstall move anything, and move my debuffs back down towards where my character is- and turn debuffs off on my character 'list'.

I just downloaded it [ElvUI], so I'm not sure if it's just something I have to get used to + fix the way I want, or if it's something that just doesn't work for me and I need to find a work around.

My UI is a collection that I put together that I find simple and not to obtrusive.

The main addons I use are:
Tidy Plates, Tidy Plates: Threat Plates (Tank) / Tidy Plates: Neon Plates (DPS)
Shadowed Unit Frames
Bartender
OmniCC
AZCast Bar
WeakAuras
Skada Threat/Dmg

The first image is just a combat screenie. The second shows all of my WeakAuras which also include my holy power.

We should seriously considering making a Weakauras sticky thread.. like.. people have lots of good ideas, and suggestions for auras, plus if someone wants one made it's an easy place to request it.

You know.. Bring some GOOD to the tank forums instead of people crying about LFR ^__^

That being said, anyone got a bunch of pre made DK ones, i have like none - so if anyone has any throw them at me, - all mine are for right now are for my monk (I use Sunniers Auras for Brewmaster, and Affinitys for Mistweaver) and my Paladin (my own auras), as well as a few auras for tracking boss debuffs.

I still think it's pretty cool; at very least I have a pretty upfront display of when the buffs (Barrier/Block) are active, how long they'll stay up, and how much (rough) mitigation they'll do. Since it's based on PAST combat log data, if you've got a big burst coming up (Say, Breaths on Megaera's heads), or even post-burst, it's going to skew the data heavily. As long as you know that and plan accordingly, you're pretty much golden. It's not going to, however, really make the decision for you all the time; if so, it'll usually lean towards Barrier unless you're tanking a lot of mobs, then it will almost always lean towards Block.

Since you can accomplish the same (rough) thing with Weak Auras (with regards to Barrier's absorption amount before actually needing to use it), it's really a matter of taste. In 5.3 I might get rid of it anyway (since the addon's author doesn't seem to be updating it, and a commentor updated the calculations for 5.2) and see what I can do with Weak Auras or Class Timers. Or I may just try to develop it for myself, who knows?

Hell, I might dump ElvUI entirely and start from the bare necessities; I don't know anymore XD

Having a sort of "repository/request" thread might be kind of cool; definitely might bring people together more than just moaning about LFR and class differences. :P

Raid frames are Grid. Use it when I heal. \

Nameplates are the standard TidyPlates/Threatplates

Shadowed Unit Frames for myself, target, targetoftarget, and focus

Mik's Scrolling Battle Text for battle text.

WeakAuras do the bulk of the work. The yellow/blue boxes are Chi, under it is Stagger (changes colors based on the amount). Left is EB stacks, right is Guard with amount left on the absorb. The numbers, starting from the left-top are Shuffle, CD remaining on Keg Smash (replaced by a Keg Smash icon when it's ready, I have 2 chi slots free and more than 40 energy), and energy. Underneath the shuffle bar are Vengeance and, while you can't see it at that second, the Staggering buff from our 2pc. Also, to the right of my healthbar is a aura that shows when the buff from the tanking meta is up. I know those two aren't necessary, but I like to see when they're rolling for funsies.

Coolline is the bar under the health and shows cooldowns in a linear fashion.

Bars are Bartender with kgPanels (credit for that setup goes to Leeflow). Chi Torpedo shows up twice because CR is normally Xuen while Z is roll, but I have a macro to put there whatever I have on that talent tier.

Rounding it out is Mappy, Chatter, Omen, and Skada.

For the healer spec, do you not use frames and have them track renewing mists hot?, it would take up a lot less space then what you have now, also

So Here's the stuff I use, and some of the things i've been working on in Weakauras for my DK

http://imgur.com/mUD7LWl

is with Weakauras open so you can see the auras, the 2 ? ? at the bottom are Vengeance, and Blood Shield Values.

I've been playing around with Dynamic groups since they are a new thing that i never took the time to play with in the past, so the Scent of Blood and Bone Shield Auras basicly only show the icon in the middle of those stacks (ie: one at a time). It's kinda neat and animated - If it's static and just has a counter i don't always notice it, so i made them a little more animated so i can see the stacks gaining and falling off by icons moving in and out.

Other Addons T use are:

Tidyplates
Skada
ElvUI
DBM
RSA
Omen
PhoenixStyle, RaidAchivements
MagicRunes

http://i.imgur.com/MSGcUm4.jpg is a screenshot with my cooldowns (the bar only shows in combat -i'm probably going to replace all these with weakauras)

also shows the red boneshield icon for when it's not on me, and off cooldown

Simple setup, party frames in default location but resized. Raid frames bottom left from left of chatbox forming around the bars. Target, mirrored of player frame. Also using miks combat text so it arcs on the outside, while crits are in the center. Overall very clean ui

So I mostly copied Lee's auras, but I made one that I'd like to share.

It shows the Guard icon (suggesting that I should use it) when Guard is available AND Power Guard is up. It also calculates how much Guard will absorb for at that moment. (I made sure that includes Vengeance! I tested it a lot and the calculation is accurate.)

e: I know this thread is old but it's so useful, and it's better to have everything in one thread.
