If you plan on raiding, please note that no guild is currently raiding on Alliance (to my knowledge). I'd like to see that change and maybe it will soon, but for now, raiding is not a practical option because everyone plays at different times and we don't have a core bit of the population that conveniently has the same work/school schedule. :(
They totally love pvp here though :D
Haven't been here too long on Alliance but guilds are probably much more important here than on a lot of realms because you can tend to feel a bit like you are the last person on Azeroth in many zones and when looking at trade chat unless you are in a friendly guild here. I like the guild I am in, but there are more than a few great options. I have yet to run into anyone from any guild who was totally rude and not helpful or at least friendly/civil. The community is small but I really like it. I recently faction-changed my main ( Miss Sam here :D) from Horde (same server) because of the people here! Seems to me that you can get to know people pretty quickly if you make any reasonable effort, and as a result the trade chat seems unnecessary because, at least when I need mats or have a question, I start with people I know first--usually in the guild. I also have no problem farming most things myself or collaborating with a buddy to move items across enemy lines via the neutral auction house.
Side note: It seems a lot of people /who for max level players only but I do it for everyone. LOL. Every single body I see online gives me a little comfort. Especially when I /who again later and see that they have leveled up a bit or have moved to a different zone or something. :D
It was actually like of nice to not have spam rolling through, but it does leave me mildly concerned that the trade as an ally is going to be scarce once I actually may need it.
This really depends on how well you network or plan on staying on the realm.
