Cool video, though I don't think the shock pally is viable in real environment. Not trying to ruin the fun though, but the fact remains the majority of people in normal bgs are not geared yet. So being at the top as a shockadin isn't really a achievement if your pvp decked out, plus the dps/heals overall for that bg was horrible. So its pretty obvious people were really under-geared.
You may not consider random bgs as a real environment, but it is really fun! It is a chaotic mess of bots and badly geared people. I don't see it as an achievement, but it is fun to feel that you have made a difference in the match.
Plus I get to do things I never get to do in RBGs. I never get to carry the flag or go on offense in most WSG, I just babysit the flag carrier, which is fine, but in randoms I get to experience the other parts of the game.
While shockadin may not be viable in RBGs and high end arenas, I enjoy it and it makes the overall game more fun. I run the shock speck and a more traditional Hpal healer spec. I have a set of pvp and pve gear for both specs, so I carry 4 sets of gear at all times.
PvE shockadin is what I use to make dailies not suck so bad. I also spec as PvE shock for random heroic dungeons. I don't have the mana to dps trash, I just save it for the bosses. Again, this makes actually doing random dungeons enjoyable enough to queue.
PvP shockadin is what i run for random bgs, like in the video. Since I do dailies in shock spec this becomes my world pvp spec, if I can switch gear. It is the spec that I duel in, if challenged, and it is also the spec I use for 2s arenas. I do 2s for points, so Id rather lose a 10 min fight than draw a 25 min fight. I find that if I run my classic heal spec I get lots of draws in 2s, which isnt fun.
PvP classic heals are my 3s, 5s, and RBG spec. The PvE geared version works fine for raids, but I mainly just do LFR.
TLDR: yes shock isnt viable for 3s, 5s, RBGs, or Raiding ... but there is alot more to the game and shock puts the fun into those other areas.
