LFR Question

Does your performance in looking for raid affect your chance to get loot?
As a DPS, it has seemed like the worse I do (poorly geared alts etc) the more gear I end up getting.
Is the amount of gear you receive based on your dps-determined "need"? Just seems to be a common trend and I am curious. If so, players should not be punished for doing well.

I don't think the loot tables work that way, although I've noticed it being a little weird at times. For me it was always the opposite; I seem to get more gear when I have higher DPS. Also got a lot luckier back when I used to tank: I was geared and ready for ToT in one week (went up 20 ilvls in two days), while my DPS gear took two weeks.

No.

This has been answered many times since LFR was released back in Dragon Soul.

RNG is independent of player actions and setups. Basically there is no magic way to increase or decrease the drop rate of items on a role. Closest we get is being able to get additional roles via tokens. Look at my hunter. There are hunters who have not had anything drop from terrace whether it be gun or tier pieces even after they upped drops. I got all the tier pieces and the gun in terrace after exactly 2 runs.

it would be nice if performance was linked to loot, but it's always the people standing in fire that win stuff so that isnt really the case.

They can't link performance to loot because there's far too many ways to exploit a system like that. And that's assuming they managed to account for all the fight-to-fight variances on performance anyway which itself would be a nearly impossible task.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that the worse you do, the more likely you are to get loot.
