My list: Top 10 Kick-!@# Ladies of Warcraft

I made this list of my own PERSONAL opinion of the Top 10 female heroic characters. Emphasis on HEROIC, since this list does not include women villains.

There will be spoilers from some novels and the latest patch so if you don't like them, don't read this list.

this is my PERSONAL opinion

10.) Archmage Modera

To many, Modera is just a quest NPC, but to lore enthusiasts, Modera is a familiar face in many books. As one of the Six, of the Kirin Tor, she is one of the most powerful archmages in the land. It was Modera and her compatriot mage, Drenden who discovered that Lord Daval Prestor was actually Deathwing himself.

Her power is so formidable she can take on Blue Dragons without hesitation in defense of Dalaran. As a neutral and highly pragmatic individual, Modera was also supportive of the Blood Elves (Sunreavers) joining the Kirin Tor despite their shady past with Arcane Magic.

Overall Modera is a veteran of many wars, and as a key member of the Six, has a powerful voice when it comes to Dalaran’s influence in the world.

9.) Lady Liadrin

Liadrin was a Priestess who became a Paladin or Blood Knight, and saved her people from a lost purpose. First of the Blood Knights, Lady Liadrin was once a priestess of light. However when times got desperate during the Undead Invasion and seeing the light had almost abandoned the High Elves, Liadrin participated in creating the Blood Knights from siphoning the Light powers of the Naaru, M’uru. Liadrin helped usher in a new rise for the Blood Elves.

Considering that she lead the Blood Knights, she was head of her effective own military order within the Kingdom of Silvermoon. But she saw the “light” as it were after Prince Kael’Thas Sunstrider betrayed her people and left them leaderless. Liadrin lead her people and the Blood Knights to get aid from A’dal and the Sha’tar.

Liadrin was vital in the creation of the Shattered Sun Offensive, forming the first cooperative group of Alliance and Horde forces, both Scryers and Aldor in fighting the Burning Legion. This shows a remarkable level headness for Liadrin to put aside her differences with the Aldor and the Draenei for a common cause, certainly marking a kick-!@# moment for her.

8.) Aegwynn

Once the most powerful magic user in the world, Aegwynn was the Guardian of Tirisfal who actually fought Sargeras directly. Though later it turned out to be just one of his Avatars, she did manage to defeat him in battle in the cold mountaintops of Storm Peaks.

Taking on Sargeras himself is definitely kick-$%^ worthy, but where she sits on the lower part of this list was that she decided to neglect her orders from the Council of Tirisfal and refused to hand her powers back to them, instead deciding herself to pass them to her son, who was already being possessed by Sargeras himself, triggering the invasion of the Orcs and all the hell that came afterwards.

Her own selfishness and arrogance lead to much of Azeroth’s suffering, but that doesn’t negate the fact that she was willing to battle the Dark Titan himself, and also slay many demons in the process.

Aegwynn’s reputation would be somewhat rehabilitated when she became Jaina Proudmoore’s advisor and later discovered her grandson Med’an. She would sacrifice herself to save his life in a battle against Cho’gall, giving her and her legacy somewhat of a higher rating than what would have been before.

7.) Jaina Proudmoore

Some would protest why she is only 7th on this list. Well her recent actions have lead many to think of her as a seriously damaged person. Had Jaina’s reputation been marked right as the Cataclysm ended she would nearly be at the top of this list.

Jaina’s reputation as a wise leader and powerful mage are some of the greatest in the land. Ruling Theramore right on Orgrimmar’s doorstep and avoiding war was one of the most difficult tasks she had to face and yet she managed to maintain a strong friendship with Thrall and the Horde while still maintaining neutral. She was also from a powerful family, the Proudmoores of Kul Tiras and didn’t let that get in the way of her defending her people.

She was even willing to defy her father by refusing to cooperate with him when he tried to attack the Orcs, and even sided with the Orcs realizing that it would have lead to slaughter.

However later after the Cataclysm, after the destruction of Theramore and the butchery of many of her friends by Garrosh Hellscream, Jaina thought of nothing less than pure revenge and was ready to destroy Orgrimmar in retaliation but thankfully intervention from Kalec and more importantly her friend Thrall, she stopped.

It was thought, that Jaina would become the same person she was, and for a time, after returning to Dalaran she did see the cooperation of Horde and Alliance as a beacon of hope for the future.

However when Garrosh used spies to infiltrate Darnassus and steal the Divine Bell from the Night Elves by using the Sunreavers, Jaina lost her cool again and removed the Sunreavers from Dalaran by force, killing many in the process. She pledged the Kirin Tor to the Alliance side, despite even King Varian’s decision to do this diplomatically not by force.

Jaina’s recent actions have seriously harmed her popularity which is why she’s low on the list. Moral integrity and compassion are also just as important to being Kick--*!, and her recent actions have damaged that.

6.) Ysera

Former Aspect of Dreams, Ysera is Alextraza the Life Binder’s sister and one of the most powerful dragons in the world.

She is the matron of the Druids and in her own right an extremely powerful sorceror by virtue of being one of the former Aspects. And as leader of her own flight, she certainly has raw power itself.

Where Ysera looses points is by a fault in her own character and duties. She is constantly between the Dream World and the Real World, which is not her fault but stops her from taking a more active participation in the issues of the world beside her other aspects. Despite this, she is still just as loving as her sister and brave as well.

During the Cataclysm, Ysera herself took active defense in the world tree and the destruction of Deathwing. Even Alexstraza despite her own power could not have done it without the assistance of Ysera and the other dragonflights.

5.) Aggra

Her actual name is Aggralan but no one really calls her that. She is an uncorrupted Orc, or Mag’har and is currently the mother of Thrall’s unnamed son.

Thrall first met Aggra when the pre-Cataclysm tremors and elemental unrest happened where he returned to Nagrand to consult with the Spirits. His Grandmother, Geyah told him to meet with a Shaman, of the Traditional type, named Aggra. She literally told him to change himself, and after throwing off the armor that he wore as Warchief she was slightly satisfied.

Pretty much after taking lessons from her, Thrall and her became mates. They shared a powerful connection with each other as well as the Spirits.

Aggra tamed the Warchief, in some regards, and even took command of the Orcish castaways that landed no the Lost Isles before finding Thrall who was lost in the shipwreck at first.

Aggra herself helps with the reconstruction of Thrall’s own spirit when Ragnaros tries to stop Thrall by severing his ties to the physical world, splitting his spirit into various pieces throughout the elemental planes. Aggra journeys to these lands and restores him to his former self.

Unlike Sylvannas who’s power is in her mind and political power, and Jaina’s and Aegwyyn who focused on magical power, Aggra may not have their magical skill or legions of armies at her command, however Aggra does have love and loyalty in her that supports Thrall or as she calls him, Go’el. Many of Thrall’s great actions especially in the Cataclysm and the defeat of Deathwing could not have happened without Aggra and if you asked Thrall, he wouldn’t dispute it.

Aggra’s contributions to the world of Warcraft are very supportive, but her loyalty, love, and most importantly, support of Thrall, are what enabled him to become an even greater hero than he was as Warchief.

4.) Veressa Windrunner

For taking a human as her husband, one can’t say that Veressa is racist but as one of the Windrunner sisters, Veressa may be the most stern and cold. She is a military leader, and rules the Silver Covenant and adamantly opposed the Sunreavers and Blood Elves in her city of Dalaran. She assisted Jaina Proudmoore in ousting the Sunreavers from Dalaran and its assumed she has de-facto military control over the city since then.

Veressa’s anti-blood elf stance is well known and the Blood Elves are not particularly fond of her. But again, like many good leaders she’s realistic enough to know that the threat of the rise of the Amani Trolls is a threat to her homeland, Quel’Thalas and puts her differences aside at the request of Halduron Brightwing.

Though not as accomplished in magic, the Windrunner legacy with the Bow is undisputed. Like her sisters Alleria and Sylvannas, she is one of the greatest with this weapon in the world.

Interesting to note, Veressa still sees Sylvanas, as her sister be it in her undead state. It is not known if they speak with each other.

3.) Sylvannas Windrunner

Queen of the Damned? Sylvannas is many things. One of the most pragmatic and complex characters in Warcraft, Sylvannas has had a long history with Horde, Alliance and even the Lich King. At one time, ranger general of Silvermoon and de-facto leader of the High Elves, then ripped out of her body and into the form of a Banshee before finding her old body again, now leader of the Forsaken despite cold relations with its current Warchief.

Sylvannas has patience and knows how to use it. She’s no friend of Garrosh Hellscream and had slightly cold terms even with Thrall after Varimathras rebelled with the Royal Apothecary Society in the Undercity, fracturing the fragile truce between the Alliance and the Horde during the war against the Lich Kng.

Despite these difficulties, she has remained the leader of the Forsaken with cunning and knowing when to step back and analyze the situation.

Sylvannas, being a Windrunner sister is just as good at archery as her sisters Veressa and Alleria and has also displayed incredible powers in the magical arts.

The Forsaken’s admission into the Horde perhaps shows exactly the level headed behavior of their leader. Sylvannas was realistic enough to know that the Alliance would never support them but the Forsaken couldn’t survive on their own. She struck an alliance of convenience with the Horde using the old motto “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”. Though she is no champion for any warchief, she knows her best bets of survival is to stay on which side helps her people.

To many, its strange to see Sylvannas as one of the strongest supporters of the Blood Elves, but this should be no surprise. Sylvannas still sees herself as a guardian of Quel’Thalas and deeply cares for her former brethren even if they fear her. Even the Banshee Queen feels hurt when her offers of aid go rejected.

Sylvannas is definitely one lady you should never underestimate. Even if she wasn’t the Queen of the Forsaken, her skills alone as an archer and ranger would make you seriously think twice before messing with her. But again her more deadly weapon is most likely her mind.

2.) Tyrande Whisperwind

Never underestimate a Night Elf, or a Priestess in which case Tyrande is both of those and more. She is also the general of all of the Night Elf armies and their chief priestess making her a combination of the Pope and the President in one. Not only this she has battled the Burning Legion, TWICE and beaten them both times, each time she didn’t play some background role but was there up at the front lines herself.

Tyrande is no pushover when it comes to the ladies of Warcraft. She can best the greatest tacticians and sorcerers both at the same time and has a heart of iron.

That said she’s no brutal military tactician either. Tyrande has won the love of a pair of brothers, Malfurion Stormrage and Illidan Stormrage. Though she chose Malfurion as her own lover, she never stopped caring for Illidan. Talk about driving something between two brothers! She has stayed loving to both for more than 10,000 years which shows a pretty good track record for loyalty. Despite not loving Illidan she broke him out of his jail after 10,000 years, much to the disapproval of Maiev Shadowsong.

Tyrande is still an active and powerful leader today, despite not being given too much of an active role by Blizzard in WoW. Despite this her sentinels are everywhere and by that extension, so is she.

1.) Alexstraza the Life Binder

Anyone not see this one coming?

She took on Deathwing one on one, nuff said to how badass this lady is. Though she didn’t defeat him, she did plenty of damage, much to her own suffering as well. She’s the guardian of all life on the planet and despite being a creature of incredible power, she is also loving and caring of those she protects.

She was also willing to give up her own life to protect the world from Deathwing, something she did without even the slightest care to her own safety, which shows her nobility. Easily one of the most powerful beings in the world, her kick-@#$ status comes not just from her power but from her strong sense of courage and morality and her selfless sacrifices.

Her legacy as a powerful being is long. She and her siblings took on the ancient proto-dragon Galakrond, freeing themselves from his tyranny and then they battled the Burning Legion in the War of the Ancients. She helped create the Dragon Soul and also the World Tree.

Alexstraza’s legacy and title the Life-Binder is well earned. She easily has worked with more heroes in Azeroth’s long histories and helped in more battles than anyone else, save her own fellow Aspects.

Easily, I would say, Alexstraza is the #1 Kick-%^- Lady in Warcraft.

My own personal opinion. Jaina was given lower, cuz of her recent actions, she's become more violent and I don't like that. So I rated her lower.

I put Aggra as #3, due to the fact that the Cataclysm could not have ended without her help. She took it upon herself (with adventurers like us) to bring Thrall's spirits back together and help him defeat Deathwing.

Tyrande is higher than Jaina because Tyrande has never compromised her integrity, and she has been in far more battles and wars than Jaina. Compared to Tyrande, Jaina is just a sorceress, Tyrande faces the burning legion twice herself, arguably 3 times including the burning crusade.

So what's Ysera's excuse?

She spent a few thousand years being the only female surrounded by male night elves.
