Gemming for PvP in 5.3

From my understanding, PvP power and PvP resilience on gems will be cut substantially in 5.3. That means it is probably no longer a good idea to stack those two stats with our gemming, though I'm not sure what else would make practical sense in blue slots. I'm assuming it will go something like this (and this is for BM hunters; I can't speak for other specs):

Red: +160 agility
Yellow: +80 agility & +160 crit / mastery
Blue: +80 agility & +80 PvP resilience

Your thoughts?

Both are being cut. From the latest 5.3 patch notes:

The amount of PvP Power and Resilience on gems and Mystic Cogwheel have been reduced by 50%.

According to what I've done in FD, it will take about 233 Agility to increase your average damage done (DPS) by 1%. PvP Power will increase your damage by 1% for every 400 PvP Power rating. Because of the nerf to the amount of PvP Power on gems, it will probably be best to gem Agility when possible.

Here is a raw dump of the notes I took during the process:

Setup:
Best Buffs and Debuffs
Cunning Pet
8 Minute Fight
Level 90 Target
50ms Latency
Enable PTR Changes
No Averaging of Abilities

Gearing:
All Gear level 496, except PvP burst trinket (476)
2- and 4-Piece bonus were active and included
Excess Hit and Expertise reforged to Crit > Mastery > Haste
5 Rating below Expertise Cap, 239 over Hit Cap
-I was unable to quickly fix this issue.
No Legendary Meta Gem

Talents:
Posthaste
Silencing Shot
Spirit Bond
Fervor
Blink Strikes
Powershot

Base DPS: 87646.01
Can add Agility only by gems, so +80 increments:

Total Agility Added - DPS Gained on Iteration - Cumulative Gain
80 - +569.10 (+0.65%) - 569.1
160 - +111.52 (+0.13%) - 680.62
240 - +369.63 (+0.42%) - 1050.25
320 - +353.48 (+0.40%) - 1403.73
400 - +386.50 (+0.43%) - 1790.23
480 - +110.84 (+0.12%) - 1901.70
560 - +337.98 (+0.38%) - 2239.68
640 - +326.26 (+0.36%) - 2565.94
720 - +87.17 (+0.10%) - 2653.11
800 - +616.06 (+0.68%) - 3269.17

400 PvP Power Rating for 1%
~233-240 Agility for 1% Damage based on a linear regression

I actually forgot to adjust for the 65% baseline resilience in those numbers. But if I handled everything correctly, that doesn't have much of an effect on the relative rankings.

I made another thread and posted this.

So with the resil changes and gem changes, I'm trying to set up my gems to be ready for tomorrow but I'm not sure what to do.

I'm switching to marks because I've always liked it better than BM and I feel with the new changes they'll be pretty even. So my stat values are changing to Hit/Exp>Crit>Haste>Mastery.

When MoP came out 1 PvP Power was worth a little more than 1 Agi, so with 265 pvp power required for 1% going to 400, I've safely assumed I'm going to put straight Agi gems in red sockets. The trouble I'm having comes with yellow and blue sockets.

With these values I calculate that 160 Agi will be worth about 250 PvP Power so if the bonus is 60 to ignore it and 120 then gem for the bonus. With all that said my final conclusions were:

320 Agi in red sockets

If the item has a blue or yellow socket, look at the bonus. If the stat value is <120, ignore it and gem agility.

If the bonus is <120 gem for the bonus and do Deadlys for the yellows and Assassins' for the Blues.

Not sure if this is what I'm sticking too, just brainstorming for now, and figured I'd ask what everyone else was thinking.

So it goes along with what you guys were saying, but I was talking about ignoring bonuses and when or when not to gem the color.

Wouldn't it potentially make sense to gem Glinting and reforge all that hit into Crit since the PvP Power values on Assassins will be so much lower?

That might be the better way to go, yes.

Are there not 80 Agility bonuses on PvP gear? Unless I'm misremembering, the cutoff value for PvE gemming is at 80 Agility, so I would guess that extends to PvP gemming with the changes.

because of the changes to expertise/ hit for hunters/ pets in pvp you will want to cap expertise and hit similar to pve (7.5% now, NOT 3%) and then gem agility < crit. PvP power is bad though. ignore set bonuses until you have 7.5% hit/crit
