Well...I'm running a Core i5 3570k overclocked to 4.3 GHz, and I still drop to 50 in combat sometimes. Thing is, those addons are doing a whole lot of math. You'd be surprised how much it is. In 25m raids, my addons sometimes use almost as much CPU as the client. A major offender is 'smooth updates' on health bars.
Thank you Kaels, I'll definitely do that. YEah, I finally OC'd my 965 BE but it's not enough juice. Unfortunately I'm working with AMD parts until I get the funds for a nice new mobo.
These, and similar. The reason is there's no 'sane' way to do asynchronous timing updates with the API, afaik. The environment is event driven / state machine, rather than a typical game loop. I know grid does aura duration updates by having a 'Frame' object that is essentially just an empty animation that fires animation timer events at a handler that updates the time elapsed/remaining.
And, lua is still just an interpreted scripting language in the end. Any memory allocation is going to be a pain.
It is pretty nice, when used correctly lol. I used it a few times and it worked pretty well :D
Yeah. My friend, who plays a spriest, was kind of mad that it wasn't possible for him to use anymore lol.
But yeah! I'm enjoying my druid in pvp and I'll hopefully get better at it as time passes.
The trinket is a lie. =(
edit: i healed him with no addons. no elvui, no dmb, no recount, nothing.
T_T my addons all took a crap and I didn't want loggin que. So there.
