Things You Don't Want To Hear Healing PUGs 12

I started a mage the other day. After I got her up to 19, I queued for a random and got Wailing Caverns. We had a warrior tank, a boomkin, a hunter, and another toon I thought was the healer. The boomy, hunter, and I are nuking the trash and occasionally I see the rejuv animation on the tank. I thought to myself, 'cool, we have a boomkin and a tree.' I was watching recount to see how my dps compared to the other the other dpses. My dps is a little behind the hunter, the tank is doing half of what I'm doing and the boomy is doing less than the tank and on some fights the boomkin has no damage. I also noticed that the tank's health was getting really low before getting a rejuv, but no deaths through the first mini-boss and all the trash on the Naralax side of the stream. As we are crossing the bridge to finish clearing trash in the first room, the tank drops. No biggie, the hunter's pet starts tanking while we wait for a new tank.

We jump down into the stream and go to the right. We keep killing trash and get to the first boss. We kill him and in instance chat I see "YOU GUYS ARE GOING THE WRONG WAY." I looked at the name then checked to see where he was on the map. He was back at the beginning, but his dot was yellow. Slightly confused, since our 3 dps were standing next to each other and rogues can't queue as tanks, I looked at the party frame and saw that the feathered member of our party had the healer icon. That's probably why the first tank dropped, but stuff was dieing and we weren't.

We got a monk tank and got to the last boss room. The tank got really low a few times, but no deaths so far. The mobs start coming out of the water for the boss encounter, and the tank drops while I'm AOEing the mobs. I have aggro on everything and I'm getting no heals. I see the boomy is stunned, by what I'm not sure. Then I die. The remaining dps kill the boss and the boomy shift to caster form and starts rezing me. Then I noticed his gear, full feral heirloom gear.

WTB healing spec for mages.

PVP story, was on my horde druid and got asked by an arcane mage I met a while back asking for assistance with some Alliance out in Halaa. The horde mage claims he solo'd the Alliance mage repeatedly.

Horde mage: 516 ilevel, no enchants, missing a meta, playing arcane, zero reforging.

Alliance mage: 567 ilevel, properly geared/reforged and enchanted playing fire.

My druid is pvp geared with around 8 grievous pieces, but the fire mage smoked the crap out of the horde mage and nearly lit my butt on fire and I had to run.

me: I highly doubt you killed that mage. Just saying.

Arcane mage: I did, I swear, a lot.

me: You do realize she's like 40 ilevels above you.

Arcane mage: I have no idea what that means.

/sigh. We regroup with me, a holy paladin, and a rogue that isn't that good. Even with 2 heals the arcane mage is blown up practically in a global when alliance now has a DK, hunter, and 2 mages. I escape again. Druids ftw.

Arcane mage: We can do this, just focus fire the mage ok?

Me: So let me get this straight. Your gear is garbage, we have 2 dps vs 4 dps that massively outgear you. And you want to try again?

Arcane mage: Yeah just focus fire like I said I don't know what you mean about my gear it's fine.

Me: i'm gonna do something else seriously. GL

I did later come back with an amazing rogue who wrecked some face. But gosh even if you don't know what on earth item level is, looking at HP should give you a clue. There was something like a 150k gap between the two.

I queue'd in for the second wing of SoO to get my friend a faster queue, we get in do first, was kind of hairy since almost solo healing it with either undergeared healers or healers who don't know how to effectively heal despite decent gear. Then here comes Iron Jug, we start off with a bad pull because some dps facepulls, so tanks go to pick up aggro....and both are standing in front of the boss taking the dot. One of the tanks is mega squishy to begin with and was taxing to heal him at 3 stacks along with the other tank at 3 stacks and then healing 23 other people in the raid.

Both tanks were like 5 stacks and were never doing crawler mines, so just a lot of damage that's preventable went out. We wipe eventually and some mage was like healers suck can't keep tanks alive. Kind of hard to heal that much if tanks can't even do the simple mechanics of IJ, so simple yet still so hard for lfr. Dark Shaman was a nightmare too because they sat in everything, sat in the wall, the slimes, the falling ash, the tornadoes. Managed to survive that though I'm not sure how and then someone was like oh the mage was right, our healers actually worked so we killed the boss.

Me:...../tableflip

I hate when healers get the blame when tanks aren't doing anything but just being a warm body next to the boss and think that's all they have to do.

Unless there are multiple rogues running around with MH glaives (which...I hate to say, is completely possible), I think this guy was in LFR with me tonight. Not only was he rocking the glaive, but he kept pulling the boss (trying to show off? I couldn't really tell...I think the first time, he vanished and reset it. Then died the next time.)

You know what's sad? He was still out-DPSing some people.

That couldn't of been him. This Goblin Rogue was awful.

I've noticed this A LOT in this LFR in particular. Nearly every run I've done has been "sucky healers!" or "terrible heals" etc.

I was in LFR @ Garrosh trash several days ago with one tank as the other had to drop after Paragons.

So the trash pulls are going okay up till the last two. Tank doesn't mind the pat, everything get's pulled, Reapers eat our faces, cannot save group with raid cds, group wipes.

Tank drop immediately before we can even say 'cc'.

So while waiting I decide to go grind some Black Prince rep, change my gear and zone out to start killing stuff (and yes you can get this rep in a raid group). We're all chatting in raid, and after about 30 minutes there's a new tank.

Now at this time there's several of us zoned out, we're missing healers and no one is saying "go go go".

I see the new tank, change specs and zone in thinking I'd just swap back into my Resto gear when I get back in. When I get in I'm immediately thrown into combat because tank decided to pull all the things.

No one's prepared, we don't even have all the DPS and the Reaper's eat our faces.

We run back in and I'm standing there rezzing, making a mental note to change my gear when I see the tank look at me. He then immediately drops group.

Me: I think the tank just dropped when he saw me stuck in my agility geared since he pulled when I zoned in.

Raid: That's okay Talai, we don't need a tank like that anyways.

Finally, after something like 45 minutes we get a tank who's first words are about cc. He gets much love from the group. A Druid follows shortly after and we get Garrosh down..

It takes so long to get a tank that no one wants to blame a tank, and the dps will never blame themselves. Which only leaves healers to blame. And since people died, it must be the healers' fault, even when the average hsp is higher than the average dps.

So I have a lfr story....

I was in the second wing of SoO and we are at the last boss. The group has been ok at best. Tanks don't understand swapping and in general people don't understand the "stay out of bad stuff" So anyways, we start on the last boss and things are going as I knew it would. People hitting him in defense stance, not moving out of the way of his axes (we got five total i think), and not kill the shamans. We die, shocker.

So we zone back in and give it another try. No blame game is happening which I find amazing. This time around I start to dps adds to help get the shamans down and their totems. I'm keeping a rolling EF on the tanks and myself so my beacon is always healed. Well we die again. Zone back in.

"We need to kick the lowest dps!"
"Link recount!"

So someone does and like a good holy pally i'm bottom five.

"Kick those people."
Me: "I'm a healer so good luck with that one."
"You shouldn't be dpsing. Your the reason we died."
Me: "So the other five healers don't count?"

This blame game went on and by the end i was laughing my butt off as I was vote kicked out along with a disc priest and a rogue.

Got to love people.

I got bored this weekend and picked up a priest that I'd brought to level 80 with an SoR last year, but then never played.

After picking up some quest gear in Hyjal, I figured I would give my hand at healing a 5m. Got a little advice from some guildies, did a quick check through icy-viens leveling guide ... OK, I can do this.

Came into a partially completed Throne of Tides. Not very completed - we're talking about the trash in that large room - trash packs of a couple casters, a healer or two, and a melee or two. Yeah. Naga killin' time, right?

LFD Member #1: Let's not do that again
LFD Member #2: Lol

That apparently is thier cue to have all hell break loose, as each player proceeds to tag their own mob. EVERYONE's health suddenly starts dropping like rocks.

I've never left a group before even the first pull was over, but I couldn't find "Leave Instance Group" fast enough.

This isn't a situation in particular, but rather a small gripe/rant in general: what is it with tanks zoning into 5-mans - heroics in particular - and immediately running off like the White Rabbit on crank? Typically, this seems to be the same tank that then drops to 50% within a few seconds of pulling the first room and inevitably says "OMG HEALZ WTF??" I like fast runs as much as the next person, as I'm only there to farm Justice Points to replace some heirlooms, but seriously...taking 5-10 seconds to make sure your healer is zoned and has you buffed before you're off to the friggin' races isn't going to destroy your finally-tuned dungeon spamming schedule.

"WHOA, that was a lot of damage!"

well golly gee! That boss sure is rude! You'd think he was trying to kill us or something! Good thing you brought a healer!

tank says: "yeah, we had way too many adds on us. One of you should taunt off"
not enough facepalm in the world

"Yeah, I'm probably gonna die on this boss."
If your deterrence isn't on cooldown I'll kill you myself.

LFR SoO first wing on my barely geared resto druid (ilevel approx 503). Bear tank won't respond to anyone including his fellow tank on tanking assignments. In protectors he keeps taunting He off the other tank. He's squishy as all get out and requires a lot of babysitting to keep him alive. In Norushen he basically just continuously taunts the boss, doesn't pick up the adds, and every time he gets ported into the challenge he dies. We used every single rez we had on that one tank and wiped after he died again and there were no more rez's left.

At that point we decided he was a tanking bot and kicked him.

So I'm leveling this priest and doing dungeons. In one group, the tank starts out by saying, "Wait one sec, where is that spell again? It's supposed to do something for tanking." and we stand there for a good five minutes before he says "oh, found it." Next he says, "I might go a bit slow, I haven't played this in ages." Ok, that's fine, I'm just past newb myself and people have to learn. We all say it's fine and everyone is cool with it. He adds, "And I'm going to need on everything because my gear sucks." For some reason we think he means all the gear relevant to him, which is fine, a little bit annoying since some of the others could use some of it too, but whatever. We go on.

He goes super slow, which again is chilled, since he warned us. I'm not getting *any* gear I need, and I've been running dungeons all morning. About halfway through I make a comment about how the gear I need never drops in that dungeon and how I really need some. Not two minutes later, a robe with spirit stats drops and, obviously, I need on it. Guess who gets it. Yes. The tank. Two of the dps then stick up for me and say he shouldn't need on spirit gear, and I chime in too.

Tank: "Yeah but it's better than the gear I have."
DPS: "You shouldn't need on priest gear when we have a priest in the group."
Tank: "I told you guys in the beginning."
DPS: "You should trade it."
Me: "Spirit does nothing for you, and I need it."

Tank runs ahead and the rest of us stop for a while. He chimes in with "you guys coming?" Then forgets to get the escort quest and says, "Forgot to get the guy, did you guys talk to him?" We go super slowly because we're all contemplating just leaving. Finally we catch up, the DPS says "Give the priest the robe," and eventually he does.

And then of course I got the same tank in the next queue, and stick with him despite my better judgment until he runs off ahead, dies, and says "well that was nice." Drop group.

Edit: Oh, and I have to add, we were all particularly annoyed by him because he was SUPER squishy. I usually barely heal in the lower level dungeons but this guy was close to dying a few times and I was spamming heals a lot of the time, so when he made me work and then took my gear...yeah. No bueno.

Wow, back again. But this time I have a good story, too! First the bad. I zone into Shadowfang Keep and I'm over the level needed, but I forgot to turn in a quest on my last run there so I figure, let me just do it, it will be easy and I can satisfy my OCD side. When I'm in, the tank is already running off even though another DPS is still zoning in too. I run after him, he doesn't hold aggro, everyone is way squishy, I'm spamming heals but we all die within two minutes while the last DPS finally zones in and was probably wondering what happened. Left that one fast.

But I got a really amazing group too - the tank waited until we were ready, pulled, I kept everyone at 80% and higher hp, and when we got through it the tank checked with me to see if I was fine with how much he was pulling. I was holding up fine so I said he could go ahead. Everyone communicated well and we did a few more runs. Love it when that happens :)

Random bg queues on my horde resto druid. I swear if I hear another DK (or sometimes a warlock) say

"Coquette, why am I out-healing you" or "Coquette why am I higher on the meters for healing than you?"

I'm going to scream. Gee I dunno maybe because you rushed into 5+ alliance on a base and your insane self-healing that's insane was counting on the meters? And I was at Farm/Mines/whatever that didn't yet have inc and didn't yet have damage to heal?

I didn't get that much during the last patch (haven't done PvP this patch except the 2 wins necessary for the legendary quest), but I would get a lot of people complaining to others that they were doing more damage.

Inc wall of text!

Doing Blackrock Depths earlier today, I landed a...character building...group. When I zoned in, two DPS were still zoning in but the tank was already at half health. I hurried to catch up and heal him, and before I even got him to full health he ran to the left instead of toward the archway, and he got a bunch of mobs on us and we died. Normally I would leave right then, but I'm in a good mood so before I run back in I type "Can we try and stick together please?"

When we get back in all 3 DPS are zoned in. The tank runs in the same direction and promptly dies. Again I type, "Let's work together, yeah?" thinking that maybe he didn't see the earlier message for some reason. And he rezzes and runs in the same direction again, dies again. At this point me and the DPS are just sitting at the entrance watching him die over and over.

Me: Can you even see your chat??? Oh look, there he goes again.
Hunter: Great, brain dead tank.
Me: *tries to vote kick* Can't kick him, he hasn't rolled on loot.
Tank: *rezzes again, runs to the door, dies*
Other DPS: Great job, running into the door. ******* bot.
Me: *keeps trying to vote kick*

Finally it goes through. We kick another DPS because he's been offline for five minutes. We clear the trash through the archway and wait in the doorway to the platform, and wait for a tank. We were chatting trying to figure out what to do when the huge troll things come and attack us - so it's me and 2 DPS and I can't dps at all because I am literally spamming heals to keep the other two alive while everything rushes at us. Finally we get them all, I'm OOM (which never happens) and the other two have no power left. One DPS and I sit and drink, then one DPS leaves and it's just me and the hunter. We requeue and wait. And wait.

Hunter: Well nuts, the curse just keeps going.
Me: Yeah, and we can't do this ourselves.
*pause*
Me: So how's the afterlife? [he was an undead]
Hunter: Not enough coffee.

Finally we get a tank and two DPS and finish the instance without issues, and the hunter and I did another run together, so it ended up okay, but man, that first part. That's what I get for being in a good, patient mood today :P

We got this once in a while on that Heart of Fear fight (wind lord I think?) that made DK self healing insane and heroic doggies (MV) that made our paladin have insane self healing that did out-heal us healers. But to "WTH" your healers over it, it's like ok great than you don't need me huh /leave.
