Open Libram LXXXIII: Man of Living Steel

Greetings and welcome to the 83rd installment of the Open Libram! The beautifully large and sexy alternative to Mangle/Sentry Totem and Tank Lounge!

In these threads, we talk about everything Paladin. Some cool. Some lame. Some information dangerous. Got that question that you're kind of afraid to make a new thread about, or just tired of getting trolled on Trade Chat? Ask it here for a more personal response.

So Blood Elves, get your hair ready, Draenei and Tauren clean off your hooves. Dwarves, the nearest alcohol is to your left for your enjoyment and Humans... well do whatever it is you do that keeps you alive. Or stuff.

Enjoy! Have fun everyone!

Two and a half hours without a Libram is too much! That said, just watched Man of Steel. Oh, my goodness.

You take that back!

(Although he is *kinda* lame. Still, movie did him a lot of justice. Pun intended.)

LFR t14 is vastly superior.

Nah, I like that tier better as sha crystals

Heroic and LFR T15 aren't bad, but I suppose I like the colors.
That's of course not including the helmet.

Reminds me of Coneheads.

*sigh* Anyway, still disappointed. Both that I didn't get to go and that LFR hasn't dropped anything for me at all this week. >.<

Also is this a normal mode group? Because I find it hard to believe that they need a concrete ilvl for normals if that is the case

Yeah, we were even sitting in Vent ahead of time. I spoke directly to the raid leader about when the group was forming before he brought up the calendar BS...And he was being rather anal about me watching the normal vids, which I have not had the chance to do due to my schedule. I mean, for frakk's sake, normal is just like LFR except it hurts more to fail at mechanics.

Finally, after Light knows how many weeks (29 total rolls, between kills and bonus rolls), I FINALLY got my Feather! ... Pulling for your drops now, Grog! ;)

*hears whistling sound in the distance* ... And that ladies and gentlegoats, is the sound of the epic nerfbat we will be feeling at some point in 5.4's life-cycle... <.<

I just picked up a shiny new pair of gem-encrusted goatshoes, and I'm going to enjoy being (fabulous, and) in the best place Ret has been since, well... Ever... For as long as I can...

Two rolls on one already this week, and still nothing. Got the stupid crit-on-crit trink off Consorts, though, and promptly DE'ed it. >_>

100% know what that feels like... Hang in there, and find a pretty girl to go along on the raid with you, and tell you that she knows for certain that it'll drop for you... It worked for me this week. ;) LOL (And, yeah, that trinket is awful... :-\ )

Gearing question... Is it worth trading 240 Str for 525 Haste? I'm pretty sure it is, it just will make my gemming look a little odd... Trading out some Str/Haste gems for Haste/Exp gems, and changing the Feather re-forge to Haste (silly Hit overkill... The first time I've ever wished for a different racial :-P )....

I think my only hang-up is a mental one, since it will drop my base Str below 16k, which I'd mentally been using as my target floor for where I wanted Str to be... Guess it will catch up as I get more Upgrades done, though...

If you're at the 1 strength:2 haste ratio, then yes, as 525 haste is the equivalent of approximately 262 strength.

Unless it's Lei Shen, not really. Most mechanics aren't even noticeable on LFR.

He also said my gear isn't good enough, which yeah it isn't the best, it's kinda low, but I've been working hard and it really isn't my fault that loot hasn't been dropping for me in LFR... To not even give me a chance because I'm a few ilvls low just seems wrong. Especially when I'm competent and know my class.

While you have some blues, your average gear is higher than the majority of people when they started going into ToT, and your weapon is higher. Normal mode raiders who had been clearing ToES regularly would have had around a 502 ilvl if they had upgraded everything.

When we got council we still had people around 490, and it wasn't until a couple weeks ago that one of our main dps finally replaced his blue helm, and another one replaced his blue chest last week, and a couple people who are under 520 who have been with us all the way through clears.... so saying your gear isn't good enough is strange.

I can't remember the last time I watched a kill video ahead of time, and I've never watched an instructional video in it's entirety. I think probably the last time was Ulduar for hard modes. They tend to be really.. uninteresting, poorly done, or have someone who sounds or talks like someone I'd mute on vent.

They're not really noticeable and can be mostly ignored, but the actual mechanics are still there. I even saw a guy run the constellations on twins in LFR this week. The actual mechanical differences from what my group does in normals to what happens in LFR isn't any different on most fights.

In principle, it's mostly true; in practice somewhat less so. I was rather surprised by how much learning I had to do when I tagged along with a friend's normal MSV group - including the "wait, the Shroud tank can interrupt Epicenter??!!?!?!!!!????" moment, which to this day I have never seen anyone do in LFR. All the same mechanics were there, I'd just never needed to actually worry about half of them.

Still, from what you say, the raid leader isn't impressing me. (ilvl 493, aka "fully equipped from t14 normal"-level gear, isn't good enough for a first time in ToT?)

LFR can be a great place to practice mechanics. But it's not a great place to learn about them. Most mechanics that are, at most, annoying, on LFR tend to be devastating or outright fatal on normal.
