Okay so after a few bgs recently in which one side or the other had no heals while the other side had plenty, I decided to try and track it a bit. Here are the results:
Yesterday, Played 15 Random BGs between 12 noon PDT and 9pm PDT.
Out of those 15 BGs (I was on alliance on Uther)
11 times we had no healers whatsoever.
of the 11 times we had no heals, horde side had at least 3 healers.
8 times we had no priests to the horde's 2
I out in a suggestion that the powers that be install some sort of mechanic to help balance this type of thing a bit. It really blows, no matter which side you play, when you wait 10 minutes for a BG only to find when you arrive that your side has no heals.
Another thing which really makes it not fun, is being brought into a BG already in progress and already losing. I mean c'mon, why give a Deserter debuff to someone who sees that and doesn't want to play knowing they can't win? Thats pretty lame.
There should be a timer of lets say 30 seconds after a player joins an active bg in which they have the ability to leave without getting the deserter debuff. That way, if you arrive at a bg which is already essentially over due to the folks there losing, you are not stuck having to play it. 30 seconds is plenty of time to determine if the BG in progress you just joined is worth playing or not imo. Giving a deserter debuff to people who join only to discover their team is down 0-2 in Warsong Gulch is pretty lamesauce.
Just my 2 coppers.
