5.4 In Game Store 100% XP Buff/Transmog items?

people need to chill and wait to see.

People need to scream and scream loud.

I don't think we're at the "screaming" stage yet, and we certainly don't need to just "lie back and think of England", but people need to give Blizz what they asked for...feedback and suggestions.

That said, if all the perplexing "inconveniences" and pointless complications that Blizz has deliberately introduced into the game with half baked explanations, are all going to vanish with a swipe of the credit card...I'm going to be extremely irritated. Seriously, if it's all been a deliberate buildup to selling us "The Cure" in the in-game store, then I'd imagine there are quite a few long term players this will push over the edge.

Sadly, we all know there is nothing we can really do to stop it.

Well the option to cancel hasn't been removed. An option that I suspect many of the long time players will use.

I have played WoW since first week of release. I previously played Diablo, D2, D2:LoD, WC:Orcs & Humans, and WC2 bnet. needless to say I was a huge blizzard fanboy. Until this. I have since cancelled my 2 accounts, and they will probably remain cancelled until the dev's reassure us that this is not going down the P2W route that it very clearly looks to be going down. The good thing is when you cancel you can write a well thought out short explanation as to why you cancelled. At least I know on some level my voice has been heard. I'm sure this will get trolled, but the only way blizzard will hear us is with our wallets. I have been a customer and a fan for 18 years. If they choose to go down this route, I will be sad but it is what it is. I still would rather just pay an extra $3 or $4 a month and let them get the extra revenue that the F2P/P2W model generates.

I would pay extra in the monthly fee too. At least everyone would still be on equal ground.

You know, he did only say an "alternate" way of acquiring Lesser Charms. What if you don't buy Lesser Charms at all? What if you can buy a buff or something along the lines that causes them to drop more frequently from mobs, or maybe gives you 5-10 charms for a random dungeon? Something like that would be alright, I think. It just might be more some players cup of tea rather than doing the same dailies over and over.

Here's to optimism.

Well...make that buff purchasable from alchemists or game currency. Not real money. We already pay $14.99 monthly.

Just adding my voice.

Been following this for quite some time. Been a Blizzard faithful since Warcraft 2. I swear I will stop playing this game if that store comes to this game in any form. Since the inception of F2P games I have mostly avoided or cancelled my time to others for that reason. I hate them, it takes everything out of the game for me and it ceases to be a game.

Don't do it guys.

This is a pretty great article, not only because it incorporates through references the articles previously highlighted in this thread, but because it's so damn on point it's not even funny. This is exactly what's happening to WoW and they're acting as though it's not even happening. The best way to fight such disingenuous and questionably ethical business practices is to throw a light on the process. Well stated, Dollorbill!

Holy Cowpats.

The monetization ideas and techniques presented in one of the linked articles (http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/RaminShokrizade/20130626/194933/The_Top_F2P_Monetization_Tricks.php) exactly mirror what is going on right now with this whole "buy minor charms" fiasco.

Note the ideals of "intermediate currencies" and "combining boosts" (both of which lucky charms are). Then there is the soft/hard boost technique, with charms being a soft, and exp being a hard.

Wow. Just...wow.

Still no blue posts, after almost 48 hours? I am very disappointed. The silence speaks volumes.

It was never innocuous. It was always there to try to coerce players into continuing to do daily quests even after they had reached their desired/needed reputation level through the use of guilt over missed opportunities. It was always designed to be a carrot for continuing to participate in content than would normally be ignored by much of the player base once the gate had been passed.

Yes, that's called "virtual pain" and wouldn't you pay $1.99/wk to skip it?

They were already setting you up by giving you the pain so they can remove it for a "convenience fee" price.

The game was better when the charms and "extra chances" weren't in the game and now we are gonna double regret it.

Sadly, we all know there is nothing we can really do to stop it.

Well, do you really think Blizzard is intentionally setting us up like that? I have my doubts, because these techniques work best for younger people, typically 18-24 age range, or abouts. At this point, I'd guess most of us playing WoW are over 25.

Meaning that a lot of people would see through something like Blizzard introducing gateways to the game and offering relief for $$$. At least I hope so.

Then again... I mean, I don't know. Maybe this is acceptable practice in Asia. I wouldn't be surprised.

Age has nothing to do with it, take a look around inside any casino, most of the patrons are over 25 and a lot of them understand the odds are in the houses favor and casinos tend to do very well.

Maybe we are trying to nip it in the bud before it gets to the PTR? Maybe we don't like this idea one bit, and are trying to let them know before they start writing the code for it. Once they write it and invest money in getting it to work, it'll be hard to turn back.

I believe that for many of the players who think Blizzard will never go further you all will be like a frog in a pot of water that is slowly heating up.

By the time you realize you were wrong you will be boiled.

I am sure many of you mean well. However, as more and more things have been monetized over the years from faction changes to race changes. They have put a fee on everything they can.

They have run out of things to add fees to. Now they have to start charging for other things like Experience boosts and bag space or whatever else they will decide to charge for.

They will hit you with one compromise after another until they have every thing they can get out of you. Subscription fee plus addons.

Then go F2P and start adding more fees.

i can completely understand why Bashiok hasn't responded to his original post. i called everyone getting up in arms about the Lesser Charms ordeal. i'd like to see what he has to say about it, but if i was him, i wouldn't bother, lol.

What I find worse is then the idea of a cash shop it the fact they want paying players to test it.
The test realm in itself is wrong to me. Worse then free beta testers. Players that use it to just find exploits and plan on using them when live.
Also the creation of garbage threads and necros to force this subject off the front page and why isn't this stickied if they truly want feedback?

I mentioned making this thread a sticky and changing the thread title to something more appropriate a couple days ago and of course that hasn't happened. This is feeling like its already a done deal.
