Special thanks to Pourt for discovering the cause of this problem and Vaiels for giving us a potentially more refined solution that lets the players keep the Synapse 2.0 installation intact (and thus able to use all Razer products).

I wish I could have been more useful myself, but I do not own a Razer product, but I'm more than happy to give credit to those that put the effort into making it so players could once again enjoy the game. :)

I can Confirm its synapse 2.0 causing the problem. I had the phantom USB sound device in my system preferences that some have talked about. I simply removed synapse and boom problems solved.

Hey all, just wanted to provide and update. We're working on some updates for a WoW future patch that may prevent issues like this in the future. For now, please revert back to the previous Razer Synapse version, v1.12 to restore functionality.

Razer is unable to reproduce it either, so please help Razer and us debug this further by sending an email to softwarecontact@razerzone.com. Thanks!

Thanks for your help Machkan and keeping us updated. Strangest issue i've ever had with a third party app screwing my client up.

Pourt, thanks for saving me from ripping my hair out. Could not figure out the problem and then found your post. Uninstalled Synapse 2.0 and sound comes back.

So, do I want to play with keybinds or audio...?

THANK you Vaiels! Hearing SCII for the first time thanks to your file-deletion fix - worked like a charm after a restart :)

And obviously, a million thanks to Pourt for finding the issue in the first place

it is Razer Synapse 2.0. its from the file Path Mac HD> library > auto >Plug-in > HAL >razeraudio.plugin If you remove this file the In game sound will come back. For some reason
my uninstall left this file, so i had to hunt this file down to resolve the issue

I hope they fix this soon. I am having the same issue. Anyone also getting the spinning beach ball over their razer synapse icon every now and again?
Reply Quote
So im having the same issue, when i drag my mouse over play and even hit play on the launcher, I do have game sound at that moment. But as soon as I login to the game I cant hear anything... I DID uninstall my razer synapse 2.0 and all of its contents and its still not working, ive had razer synapse 2.0 for a while now so that does not surprise me that that isnt the issue. To make things even wierder I lost my game sound in the middle of a bg while just playing I noticed it was no longer there.

Any help would be much appreciated, ive tried the whole schabang about addons and deleted stuff and what not and still not working.

Here are my sound logs. Aswell as my system info

I agree that it is odd a mouse driver would conflict with the audio on a particular program.

I would like to add.... I had the same issue since the patch and believed it would just be that way until a new patch came out to fix it.

I do not have the Razer mouse and do not have the Synapse 2.0 driver installed.

I have a "Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer". Microsoft has very little support for the Mac so I use a third party driver from Japan called "SteerMouse". upon checking their website and found I was a couple versions behind. Updated and my sound issue in WoW was gone.

Thanks

I lost the sound in WOW after I downloaded an upgrade for the codec pack. I had to change some computer settings to get sound for utube, videos etc. In WOW, I changed the sound setting (in settings) to a different channel - channel 64. I know very little about computers and so I always look for the simplest answer. Would be nice if this worked for you.

Love these forums! Don't ask me again and later that same day I'm entering all my info to login once again.

Anyways....

Just found this thread. Same ole issue. No sound only in wow if it's launched via the launcher. If I launch the exe by itself it works.

I do have razer gear and I will try uninstalling it, but seeing as this was from a year and a half ago, one would assume blizzard had long since fixed it?

After the update I had no sound, for some reason my Ambient Sound was off though I had never turned it off....Works now.
