Please don't flame me ... Why not Healium?

First healer toon. I played around with a few healing addons and settled on Healium as the easiest to set up, navigate, and master. But now, reading the forums I see everyone seems to hate Healium but I can never find a clear answer to why its so detested.

Please, only constructive answers. I'm perfectly willing to take all responses under advisement as long as they aren't the "OMG ur so n00b" type answers.

Thanks!

When you have a full set of spells you may want to cast on people (not as applicable to druids, I suppose) and 25/40 raid frames, healium will take up an enormous amount of screen space. In concept it's not very efficient as it duplicates information. Using keybinds or mouse-click binds is better in the long run.

also, when you cant see anything, like in Tiriels picture, your play is entirely reactionary as you cant see your teammate that's about to be hit be something bad and start your cast early

Sometimes you'll miss the bad at your feet, or that something is hitting you in the face. Because your face is covered by bars.

It's redundant and takes up way too much screen real estate. There are so many superior options, even the default UI and raid frames are VASTLY superior.

Is that seriously what it looks like?

Yikes.

It's fine if you are just doing 5 mans. Gets a little sloppy in 10 man. Starts to get unmanagable in 25's, and is straight rediculous in 40 man. Healium is easy to fat finger as well.

Even RF is going to be difficult. Healbot is real straight forward if you don't really want to set anything up but still pretty basic.

But if Healium works for you and you don't find it a problem, then it is fine.

That's actually a fairly good layout, too.

Imagine that, but with 40 players instead of just 25.

But if Healium works for you and you don't find it a problem, then it is fine.

It really isn't.

Healium takes up a lot of room and has redundant information. It also teaches you bad habits.
Just key and/or mousebind your spells.
Healbot, vuhdo, or Grid 2 + Clique are ALL better options. If you want you can use the default ui with mouseover macros.
If you want to use the default make sure to show party frames as raid frames. To do this go to Options>Interface>Raid Profiles and click the box at the top that says "Use Raid Style Party Frames"
To make a mouseover macro type /macro
Now pick your little picture doodad and name it. For this example I will use lifebloom.

Now in the macro text field type:
#showtooltip
/cast [target=mouseover, help] Lifebloom; [help] Lifebloom; Lifebloom

Now you can bind this to any key. If you want to put it somewhere else you can drag it to a blank space on your action bars then open the game menu, hit the keybindings button and scroll down to the MultiActionBarSettings and bind away.

Information about mouse over macros can be found on this blog post:
http://www.worldofmatticus.com/a-guide-to-mouseover-macros/

If you need help setting up a different healing addon let us know or go to the UI and macro section of the forums!

No one will here will flame you or Reta will beat them with a stick. I promise.

Things I cast on people regularly as a resto druid:

- Rejuve
- Regrowth
- Swiftmend
- Wild Growth
- Nature's Swiftness/Healing Touch macro
- Nourish (rare, mostly on tanks, but I still have that keybound)
- Nature's Cure (dispel)
- Ironbark

I am sure there are other things I cast, but those are the main ones. Granted, the list is not as extensive as a priest's, and Nourish can be omitted if necessary, but that would still be fairly unwieldy in a system such as Helium's.

Edit: D'oh! Forgot Lifebloom. Fail druid is fail.

Unnecessary screen clutter is unnecessary.

Try to keep a bare minimum of addons required to play optimally on-screen, as having a broad view of the game world around you is essential to any competitive activity in WoW.

So does it work that you click on the healing spell for that particular player?

Healium works, if you know how to use it. I use it on my party and tanks only. I only have two buttons setup, for renewing mist (HoT) and soothing mist (channel). I use everything else from my hot bar. I use raid frames for everyone else in the raid.

Not to mention you can change the scale of the add-on, though if you did it for everyone in your raid (25 man +), it's too much. Possibly get away with it on 10 man.

You would be so much better just using the stock raid frames and mouseover macros. I don't see why you would need to use Healium for one party, and normal raid frames for everything else. It seems very redundant.

So does it work that you click on the healing spell for that particular player?

Yep.
