Paladins a dime a dozen.

Does this ever discourage you? Sometimes I feel like playing a paladin is hard because of the competition for spots/rolls with so many other players. We also suffer from the old "huntard" plague where so many new players roll the class that we end up getting a bad rap. Does being one of the most played classes in the game discourage you at all?

Not really, because being a good paladin will set you apart. For example I am the only paladin in my 10m group, and one of two consistently raiding paladins out of our guild's two 10-mans.

I know i'm not the best barometer of this because of how recently I started raiding this xpac, but still.

Just be good at your class, and class prejudice won't affect you.

Ret was unheard of in Vanilla and BC. As a long time ret player i have mixed feelings about this, i was glad there was not many in the past and to add if you were ret..you were a skilled ret. Now as woww has changed over the years ret has become more common, so yes i'm glad to see more people play the class but at the same time im not =/

Not really, more like you got lucky with Seal of Casino. Ret was unheard of because it was extremely poorly designed, and nearly unplayable. Iirc, ret didn't even have crusader strike until BC.

Ret was a laughing stock in Vanilla. The spec has much more respect now.

IMX, the lion's share of difficulties in running groups are not getting the perfect mix of specs, but in finding 10/25 people who can consistently tell their own !@# from a hole in the ground.

Or in other words: most of your worry should be "being a good player", not "playing the right class".

It's hard to say, with Paladin. We've gotten HUGE overhauls since vanilla, probably the most (if not, one of the most) of any class. We've started with painfully simplistic gameplay and grown up since then. You all remember the days of 1-2 button rotations, no melee skills, and look at us now: tons of combat abilities, tons of heals, two resource systems and a well-defined playstyle. Today, it's not about Paladin being faceroll anymore.

But since the beginning, through ALL these iterations, Paladin has always been consistently popular. How can this be? Well... if the gameplay changes so much, it must be something else. Maybe it's the image of a Paladin, the aesthetic of a winged holy warrior who brings justice and truth to a trouble world. That's my take. :)

People can roll Paladins all they want. It's not gonna stop me from playing one until this game finally rolls over and dies. Hands down, my favorite class. Ret being my favorite spec.

Do I see bad paladins? Yes. Do I see bads in every class? Yes. Who cares? Just be a good paladin and you will be invaluable

I can't find a raid group on my server... every one worth joining already has a ret, and no matter the skill difference, the gear jump from last tier is so much that I can't even compare with my current gear. My current guild has 3 pallies in a 10m and my old guild had 2 with 6 rolling on conq.

I love it - it just shows how much better I am when I mange to pull more damage and kills the the next guy, and it's always fun to have a 1vs 1 showdown on the BG to see who is better.

They're all the same.

Just like everyone else.

Just like everything else.

Doesn't matter how terribad or awsome.

I'm beginning to wonder. My more recent LFR groups I've been the only paladin, period and I'm healing. Not even a ret paladin. I joined an OOnd raid and again, the only paladin of 40. A Pug world boss raid put together on my realm. In 5mans I get excited to see one other paladin. It is odd, I see them all over the place out in the world, but when I queue into 5mans and LFr, I have been the only one in recent weeks.

Sorry to say that you might have to be willing to transfer off to find a raiding group. Hopefully virtual realms and flex raiding will help with this to an extent.

The Conq. token thing is a bit of an issue. My wife is a Shadow Priest and it's rare for us not to be in a group that doesn't have 4 or more people on that token. All I can say is "Thanks" to Blizzard for introducing coin rolls this expansion.

More paladin players is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Well, it's bad if you have a bad case of "I'm a beautiful snowflake" syndrome.

But with higher class representation, more players are expecting to enjoy their class, which puts more pressure on Blizzard to keep the "fun" factor with cool gear, good mechanics, and to keep us competitive.

Plus, the more players are out there, the more we can share knowledge and perfection of the class.
