Paladins a dime a dozen.
I know i'm not the best barometer of this because of how recently I started raiding this xpac, but still.
Just be good at your class, and class prejudice won't affect you.

Not really, more like you got lucky with Seal of Casino. Ret was unheard of because it was extremely poorly designed, and nearly unplayable. Iirc, ret didn't even have crusader strike until BC.
Or in other words: most of your worry should be "being a good player", not "playing the right class".
Ret was unheard of in Vanilla and BC. As a long time ret player i have mixed feelings about this, i was glad there was not many in the past and to add if you were ret..you were a skilled ret. Now as woww has changed over the years ret has become more common, so yes i'm glad to see more people play the class but at the same time im not =/
I feel exactly the same :)
But since the beginning, through ALL these iterations, Paladin has always been consistently popular. How can this be? Well... if the gameplay changes so much, it must be something else. Maybe it's the image of a Paladin, the aesthetic of a winged holy warrior who brings justice and truth to a trouble world. That's my take. :)
I can't find a raid group on my server... every one worth joining already has a ret, and no matter the skill difference, the gear jump from last tier is so much that I can't even compare with my current gear. My current guild has 3 pallies in a 10m and my old guild had 2 with 6 rolling on conq.
Sorry to say that you might have to be willing to transfer off to find a raiding group. Hopefully virtual realms and flex raiding will help with this to an extent.
The Conq. token thing is a bit of an issue. My wife is a Shadow Priest and it's rare for us not to be in a group that doesn't have 4 or more people on that token. All I can say is "Thanks" to Blizzard for introducing coin rolls this expansion.
Well, it's bad if you have a bad case of "I'm a beautiful snowflake" syndrome.
But with higher class representation, more players are expecting to enjoy their class, which puts more pressure on Blizzard to keep the "fun" factor with cool gear, good mechanics, and to keep us competitive.
Plus, the more players are out there, the more we can share knowledge and perfection of the class.
