Strength / Agility Weapon Issues

I've seen this concern get little press or spotlight in the slew of Cata issues being presented (If there was a previous thread on the subject, please post it) but considering it's impact on PvE raiding (and PvP possibly mattering on how the weapons are itemized) I'd like to see everyones input on the subject.

The issue is the clutter of Strengh and Agility two-handers and the limitations it puts on overall loot tables and connected RNG of said weapons dropping. Allowing the major stat of the item to be able to shift from Strength to Agility or vise versa you open up multiple specs to the same item rather than that item suffering from Spirit Plate Syndrome (SPS). Two handed Strength Maces can be used by Feral Cats, Agility Polearms can be used by all three plates classes for their five combined specs, and that lone Strength one-handed axe that keeps dropping can be used by the combat rogue who is still using last tiers weapons.

Along with this concern is the elusive Strength ranged slot. Honestly just shifting us to a Relic slot would be the easiest solution since we would share the same item with our plate brothers for both tanking and dps, but we would need to be compensated in some way for loosing shoot/throw.

Thoughts?
Ideas?
Scones?

Don't even get me started on the total dearth of daggers in T11 content. I think there's one slow and one fast dagger -- total. Sure will be awesome seeing those not drop for months on end.

Strength/Agi trinkets are equally if not even moreso terrible than weapons.

Strongly disagree.

See, agi Trinket could be;
Rogue, Druid, Shaman, Hunter

but an agi Polearm;
Druid, Hunter

str Trinket;
Paladin, Warrior, Death Knight

str 1h Fist Weapon;
Warrior

See the issue?

It's tricky. There is such a thing as too many people wanting the same item, and that turns into almost as big a problem as too few wanting it - which, granted, is still a problem.

I only see two real potential problems -

#2) For Agi 1h weapons, Fast OH non-daggers are only desired by Combat, and Slow OH non-daggers are only desired by Enhancement. They should either:
A) Never introduce a fast OH weapon that's not a dagger. Doing so won't make that weapon unnaturally good for Combat, and they can balance combat accordingly assuming they're using a dagger for an OH. This may mean Main Gauche is even weaker than expected, and it leaves one weapon type as Enhance-only.
or
B) Turn Combat Potency into a PPM mechanic, which eliminates the advantage of a fast OH all together for combat, so all OH non-daggers can be equally good for both specs.

#2) Strength 1h weapons are not highly desired. Really, only SMF-Fury and DW-Frost specs have any interest in them - half of two specs. It makes you wonder why they don't just get rid of those all together, and balance those two specs assuming you're short a little str from your weapons (they could for example have SMF also say "and gain 2 ap for each point of agility on 1h melee weapons").

The possibility of working something like Feral Attack Power out to convert agility to strength doesn't seem like it's too far beyond the realm of possibility.

I enjoyed wrath, and the amount of thrown weapons. /sarcasm

There definitely is a lack of daggers ( melee DPS ) since I never really liked Combat, except in deep BT / SWP.

Can they PLEASE just put in a thrown weapon for Rogues? There are currently zero from the JP/VP vendors, or on any raid loot list. You think they would have thought to include one since FoK requires it now...

There isn't a single strength dps ranged weapon in the game either.

Several things here.
#1, in wotlk pvp weapons for 2h str based weapon users always had less attack power than pve versions because they had raw attack power not str, while multiple % modifiers buff str but not AP. One of the biggest problems with pvp offset peices being worse than pve offpieces was the same thing happening on rings/necks/cloaks.
For pvp, everything having str and agi versions is far more ideal than the alternative. This just finally got fixed on pvp gear for weapons/rings/neck/cloak/trinkets. Don't mess it up for us again now because you dislike the specific nature of weapon drops in pve.

#2 DK's should be able to use fist weapons. There's really no lore issue against it and it makes the odd pve str fist weapon not a total waste when there's no SMF war in the raid.

Non Armor Pieces should just be over budgeted and have both strength and agility
