The Rules:

1) Be excellent to each other. No one likes a jerk. Don't be a jerk in this thread. No fighting, no put downs, no name calling - or else Reta will beat you with a stick. >:(

2a) The title of the next thread is to be decided by general acceptance before this one caps; try not to overlap with previous ones. Whomever caps the thread should make the new one.

2b) Keep the ToS in mind when deciding on a thread title. This will make it far less likely to be deleted. Also, the title of the thread should always involve food! This is the healer forum and we're weird.

3) Copy and paste these rules and the below list into the first post of the new thread. Add the title of the new thread to the bottom of the list.

Hey. He's gotten two already. I heard enough about the second one. Can only imagine with a third. :p

Well. Nobody was making one, so I just did.

I am pretty excited at the idea of creating a UI for a pure DPS character. I mean they can REALLY be minimal, with no need for raid frames or much at all aside from dot/cd tracking and boss mod stuff.

I can't stand not having raid frames as a dps.

Well yes, not criticizing, and you did cap the last one anyhow. All I'm doing is pointing out Illu's ego is plentiful, which I love to tease him for.

Adelynne needs one. It should involve Apples. Or Apricots, I think.

I'll change it.

What A-related food do you like Adelynne? :)

Edit: I picked one, let me know if you want something else ;)

Hmm really? I don't think I'd want to have them if I didn't need them.

Something like this really appeals to me. ( http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11321-SkullflowersUI.html ) Everything is so clean and open. I feel though, as a healer (especially one with so much utility) that I just need to see all the things.
What layout features do you believe Vuhdo has that Healbot does not?

I'm not sure if Vuhdo has layout features that healbot doesn't, but that's not the question. Why should you use healbot instead of vuhdo is the question.
It's not a question of belief. If there's a useful feature [for raiding] that healbot has that vuhdo does not, I am unaware of it.

By all means use healbot if you want to. Hell use xperl if you want to.
However, I think it sets a negative tone to someone's application if they do. Using something because you are used to it when there may be better options isn't a good thing.

Also, I got really, really sick of walking healers through adding Closed Circuit to healbot so they could stop failing at their role.

I do like minimal UIs. Mine fails at that, largely because of my bartender setup (edit: and my player / target frames).

I don't know. I just like knowing where people are, and seeing some of the buffs / debuffs. Every once in a while it's useful, like for example, I can decurse folks on Horridon. I would imagine you would want them if you are a druid so you can cast rebirth on someone more easily.

So I've been working on IE 7-8 issues all day. You're about to see a bald gnome. I don't understand why my solution of

1) Detect browser pre page render
2 a) If IE redirect randomly to Firefox to Chrome download link
2 b) If not IE render normally

wasn't acceptable.

Oh well that works :)

Apricots are good! Haven't had any in forever, need to remedy that. I can't actually think of anything else A either :P

Slightly related because of title stuff - Somebody in my lab for physics this morning mentioned croissants and reminded me of some chocolate croissants that we had in the house for a bit and now I really want some (I think need is a better word, really). The relation to this title stuff cause everyone who plays with me calls me Cale lol.

I think you are missing the point. I am saying they are equal. You believe they are not. Your understanding is that Vuhdo has some layout features (perhaps crucial layout features?) that Healbot does not. I am unaware of any such features or differences, and I was asking you what those differences were.

If, however, Vuhdo and Healbot perform the same functions, there is no reason *not* to use healbot, or to have a belief that Healbot is "garbage." I mean unless you are saying Healbot is too difficult to customize or something. That may well be true.

This. I use Vuhdo on my dps and tank toons as well as healers. I'm addicted.

That's gorgeous, but how do people only have that many things on their bars?! I would die. >.>

This is reminding me that I've let my UI get kind of junky since I originally set it up. I should fix that.

My understanding is that Vuhdo has layout features that grid/grid2 does not, which is exactly what my original post stated, had you read it.

However, I am reasonably certain that Vuhdo has greater flexibility in buff/debuff/status display than healbot does. As far as I know healbot doesn't have options for hot bars, if you like that kind of thing.

For a dps, you can have the raid frames still look reasonably clean/minimalistic. Very few dps class have no raid member-targeted utility. Whether it's a brez, dispel, or defensive cd.

When I play moonkin I have vuhdo swap to its built in "bit o grid" layout that i can tuck away in a corner, i guess i can use the same on my mage for dispelling purposes. :)

i dont know! i always feel like i need to have a million buttons on my screen, even the ones that are keybound (i use the buttons to track cds) and of course all the ones i click like milling or mounts or fishing etc. My ui is a MESS right now.

I wish it was pretty. *sniffles*

I also only play with important cds shown. It's easy to do, just takes some time before you convince yourself you don't actually need to see where the flash heal button is to hit the keybind.

edit: hmmm this weekend I'll probably try to tidy-up/improve the layout of my ui....
