Hi there. First off, I'm already a raider. My group is not pushing heroic progression, but we aren't completely terrible either - We finished normal ToT somewhere between 1 and 2 months before the patch came out. I heal with a resto druid and a holy priest. The resto druid (raid leader) refers to me as our best healer all the time. I just say all of this to [hopefully] avoid comments saying things like "if you can't get gold you shouldn't be raiding" that I've seen plenty of in certain threads.
Now, proving grounds. What do I do? The best I've done so far is wave 6 or 7 of gold, IIRC. I interrupt / stun mobs when I can, but around that time there's just too much damage going out for me to focus on interrupts. It feels like the waves are overlapping and mobs are coming too early. Any tips for a holy paladin to get through this?
I'm currently running Selfless Healer with enough haste to have a 5 second holy shock / judgment CD with everything else put into spirit/mastery in my ilvl 537 gear. Obviously this gets scaled down. I'm using Holy Avenger right now, but have tried Divine Purpose as well.
I'm using the beacon glyph, flash of light glyph, and divinity glyph. I plan on swapping beacon for the hand of sacrifice glyph soon (at least for PG - will swap flash heal glyph for raids)
I scrounged up some old gear from my bank / item recovery to try and optimize a lil more for the scaled down ilvl. With this gear, I was gemmed for spirit/mastery and reforged for the same. I picked gear pieces that had mastery on them already. Any piece without mastery got reforged into mastery. I ran Eternal Flame, don't remember if I used Holy Avenger or Divine Purpose. This seemed to go a little better but I still got stuck around the same wave.
So what do I do?
I know I can raid, why can't I get through Gold? The DPS challenge was cake.
(note: Unless I'm mistaken, I know selfless healer with a haste build isn't the most optimal choice, but I wanted to try something different with the new changes - so far it's working out just fine in raids, Working on Sha of Pride right now, jumping into SoO again tomorrow evening)
The healer Proving Grounds is bugged right now, in that the DPS aren't doing anywhere near enough damage, so the mobs aren't dying as fast as they are supposed to. Don't feel bad, is definitely isn't you. Those who did it on the first day probably faced the correct tuning.
My advice would be to wait until it is fixed.
Well, regardless of it being bugged or not, it would be nice if the waves didn't overlap. I can understand not letting us drink, but have the dps step it up so that waves die ~5 seconds before the next wave, and just keep us locked in combat so we can't drink. It's not fun to be healing the group over on the left side while they are still working on 2 mobs and then all of the sudden have 3 mobs spawn on the right side casting heavy aoe damage.
In the mean time, any tips for getting through it before it's fixed? (if it's broken at all)
edit: Going to bed now, will post back tomorrow - Turns out there is a bleed debuff that my raid frames aren't displaying correctly, I'll fix my frames and see if that makes a big difference or not.

I completed gold today using a selfless healer build. Some tips for you :
Keep using Holy Avenger over Divine Purpose. Your Holy Power generation with HA and SH is insane and it is by far your strongest CD followed by Guardian.
Use the LoD glyph to reduce the number of target healed by LoD. You will never have 6 people to heal and barely ever 5 during the PG. I would suggest using LoD, HoS and Divinity glyphs for the PG with selfless healer.
You should use Holy Prism in tier90 and mostly use it as an AoE heal.
Make sure you handle the AoE shockwave-pulse mobs correctly. The rogue will almost always open with cheap shot followed by kick. The mage will usually get the 2nd counterspell. You interrupt the 3rd, stun the 4th, rogue get 5th, you interrupt 6th. These mobs are deadly and you need to interrupt them even if you are a little behind on healing.
You can do the same rotation for the little dudes casting fireballs but it's not as important.
Heal the mobs with the Chomp debuff (bleed that goes away when you heal to 90%) or you will get behind. Don't be afraid to BoP them if they are too low HP and get the buff. You can even BoP the tank if you are fast with the freedom to remove the BoP. You should run Clemency for this reason.
Hand of Sacrifice is very good with the glyph, make sure you use it on the tank when he's in trouble. It is especially good with you have the big mogu dudes that enrage (Conqueror)
Try to use your CDs separately unless you are really in trouble. Holy Avenger > Guardian > AW > DF, try to judge the severity of the situation and use the appropriate CD.
I'm too a big fan of Selfless healer + haste but after playing a bunch in endless, I'm pretty sure EF is superior to SE for the proving grounds. However, Gold is easily doable with SH

Thanks for the pally tips. My pally still wears a couple of 450 pvp pieces and the other stuff averages about 480 so I am going to come back to this post later. I usually get by in dungeons and LFR on my holy pally without even using many of my cooldowns, so I need to learn ALL of my skills better.
