Students gifted with a keen intellect and unwavering discipline may walk the path of the mage. The arcane magic available to magi is both great and dangerous, and thus is revealed only to the most devoted practitioners. To avoid interference with their spellcasting, magi wear only cloth armor, but arcane shields and enchantments give them additional protection. To keep enemies at bay, magi can summon bursts of fire to incinerate distant targets and cause entire areas to erupt, setting groups of foes ablaze.
Masters of ice can command blizzards that tear into flesh and limit movement. Should enemies manage to survive this assault, the mage can shrink them into harmless sheep in the blink of an eye.
Powerful magi can even generate enhancements and portals, assisting allies by sharpening their minds and transporting them instantly across the world.
Mages demolish their foes with arcane incantations. Although they wield powerful offensive spells, mages are fragile and lightly armored, making them particularly vulnerable to close-range attacks. Wise mages make careful use of their spells to keep their foes at a distance or hold them in place.
- Type Ranged Magic Damage Dealer
- Standard Bars Health, Mana
- Available Armor Cloth
- Available Weapons Wands, Daggers, One-Handed Swords, Staves
Mages can expend mana in order to deal high amounts of damage with amazing speed, though they must be wary of exhausting themselves.
By calling upon sheets of ice, columns of flame, and waves of arcane power, mages can effectively attack multiple foes at the same time.
A mage has many options for controlling the battlefield, from freezing enemies in place to transforming them into helpless critters.
Mages possess the ability to transport themselves and their allies between cities and can summon replenishing food and water.

-You will be able to teleport to cities starting at level 24 with Stormwind/Org and other main cities. That frees up your Hearthstone to be saved at the current location you are leveling which can save you a lot of travel time. Especially in a guild with the Perk to reduce the Cooldown of the Hearth to 15 minutes.
-Since mages are pure DPS, the major stats you should always aim for when leveling is Intellect gear. If there is spirit on it, AVOID THAT ITEM AT ALL COST! Spirit does nothing for a mage and even if it came from a quest/Better, you might as well just put on white armor (In some cases, spirit gear is okay only up to 70+)
- We mages have Three Codes we abide to. Fire, Frost and Arcane. While Arcane is tempting to level as, It should be noted that Arcane is not as powerful at lower levels like Frost or Fire. My Recommendation for Leveling is frost. That way, you can slow enemies down as well as freeze them from a distance with your Elemental.
- Never take weapons that do not have pure Intel on them! You are not going to whack the enemy in the face with it, so don't roll need on weapons or use weapons with high damage on it. The more Intel you have, the more damage your spells will do.
- Some professions may seem tempting to use as a mage. For starters to wow, be a Tailor and Enchanter. That way you can make your own gear while enchanting it with the disenchanted old gear you do not have. Later on you can get a self cloak enchant for more damage as well as ring enchants. Other professions that are pros for mages include:
Jewelcrafting
Inscription
Engineering
Mining (Profit or pair with either Engineering or Jewelcrafting)
Herbalism (Profit)
Skinning (Profit)
- NEVER BUY VENDOR FOOD! At level 38, you have a spell that can create food that replenish health and Mana. The spell also scales the food with a certain level range. Until then, level your cooking as you kill boars and other creatures to make into wonderful stat food.
- When you are able to make portals for your party members and raid team, always be the last guy in as once you (The one who made the portal) enter the portal, no one else can take your portal. Do not be an !@# or make that mistake. Headcount before you enter yourself :3 (This was added in 4.0.1. Dunno why)
- Remember to always check if your armor is on. It can be removed if you change a talent or respect or swap specs.
- If you have a wand, make sure to keep the shoot bar on hand if you have low mana and no way to regenerate it fast enough in battle. Your wand can act as a temporary damage dealing devise at long ranges.
- And last but not least, enjoy the game as a mage. Now go burn some stuff up!
If you need help at all, do not be afraid to ask this comment section like other class pages. Skilled Mages like myself from all kinds of servers will help you out in your time of need.
