For rogues, the only code is the contract, and their honor is purchased in gold. Free from the constraints of a conscience, these mercenaries rely on brutal and efficient tactics. Lethal assassins and masters of stealth, they will approach their marks from behind, piercing a vital organ and vanishing into the shadows before the victim hits the ground.

Rogues can dip their weapons in paralyzing toxins that render foes unable to defend themselves. These silent stalkers wear leather armor so they can move unencumbered, ensuring that they land the first strike.

With the rogue’s poisons and speed, the first strike is often the last step before the killing blow.

Rogue Information

Rogues often initiate combat with a surprise attack from the shadows, leading with vicious melee strikes. When in protracted battles, they utilize a successive combination of carefully chosen attacks to soften the enemy up for a killing blow. Rogues must take special care when selecting targets so that their combo attacks are not wasted, and they must be conscious of when to hide or flee if a battle turns against them.

  • Type Melee Damage Dealer

Go with leather working and skinning as a rouge. Not only will you make great armor for yourself,
but skins and leather are needed In many recepies not only for leather working . Ex. I have
a friend who needs skins for his engineering recepies.

I recently made a rouge and someone told me the professions to use were Mining and Engineering. I am assuming that is correct, and if not please give me some feedback.

@Secondary: professions aren't that important when it comes to classes. Sure it'll marginally increase some of the stats you have but that does little to nothing. However if you do insist on getting a profession based on class get one that gives you the agility boost [go for Leather working] Jewelry crafting also increases your stats and its for any class out there.

i have to admit... rogues are just too fun... my favorite thing to do. is just stalk the enemy and SAP! It is so hilarioous when they try to figure out where you are, when you're just sitting there watching them! Then hitting them with a combo and vanishing. So much fun...

My other character is a goblin assasination rogue with a full set of dungeon- gear and enchants. Recently i lost a duel to a level 21 resto druid who spent the entire time in cat form until i got him down to about 10% health, at which point he shifted forms and full healed. Me with 50% left couldnt recover. Now i know that subtlety is better for PvP, but how did i lose so badly?

@Evoley: I feel you're underestimating the survivability of a rogue my friend... with the addition of Preparation as a baseline ability, as well as being glyphed you get roughly 30 seconds of 50% increased dodge. rogues can also talent in Elusiveness and spam the ability Feint in order to reduce AoE as well as physical damage taken. This is all without considering yet another talent: Combat readiness which is an active damage mitigation ability. And if all else fails you get glyph of Cloak of Shadows which reduces physical as well as spell damage on a 1 min CD. All Blizzard needs to do is drop our CDs and give us and armor buff similar to a Guardian Druid or a Brewmaster Monk and we've got probably the highest dps tank spec in the game... just food for thought. :)

@Uthber: I rolled worgen because you get an additional speed boost from the racial as well as increased critical effect I believe. But human is also a viable option as well as gnome... no clue why anyone would roll a Nelf rogue except for the "increased dodge". And now with MoP I suppose panda isn't a terrible option with the doubled food buff... but do you really want to be a sad, fat panda?
