Warlock
In the face of demonic power, most heroes see death. Warlocks see only opportunity. Dominance is their aim, and they have found a path to it in the dark arts. These voracious spellcasters summon demonic minions to fight beside them. At first, they command only the service of imps, but as a warlock’s knowledge grows, seductive succubi, loyal voidwalkers, and horrific felhunters join the dark sorcerer’s ranks to wreak havoc on anyone who stands in their master’s way.
Warlocks can ignite distant enemies in searing flame, send them fleeing in terror and pain, or afflict them with corrupting diseases and curses that steal the victim’s vitality.
These practitioners of the profane are feared across Azeroth, and many who have felt their wrath now prefer to fight alongside a warlock than against one.
Warlocks burn and destroy weakened foes with a combination of crippling illnesses and dark magic. While their demon pets protect and enhance them, warlocks strike at their enemies from a distance. As physically weak spellcasters bereft of heavy armor, cunning warlocks allow their minions to take the brunt of enemy attacks in order to save their own skin.

Warlocks can drain enemy souls and use them to empower their own spells, making them swifter or more deadly.

Don't blame Blizzard or ask them to fix the class. The problem isn't the class, it's you.

You never mentioned what we're good against. Is the Hunter class broken just because any Warlock worth their salt can destroy them? That'd be a "no". Quit whining on the forums about your own inadequacies and take the time to get better.

I have Played for years, i went away and came back and have to ask what on earth did Blizzard do to the poor lock! I was Affliction, my lock was able to tank to an extent, to heal myself very well, and the dps was really good. and it should be extremely good dps considering that the only function of the lock is to entirely dps. I see we have been knocked way down on the dps charts compared to specs that are meant to tank or heal with an offspecing of dps, though i undertstand that a warrior or pally or death knight might want to dps, considering their armor they sholud not be able to out dps a clothy, neither should a pally or anything with a heavier set of gear. In a sense when i first started the reason to have a clothy was because the dps was really good because in a sense of gaming reality the lighter the armors were the more mobility and power a toon shoulda had for the dps because they could use magic and freely move quickly. This sense of gamers reality is LOST.
Now a pally with gear that would way a tonne can move just as fast, same as a warrior, with charge and stun and heroic jump can stun the lock in pvp and in one or 2 swipes can kill a clothy maybe 3 or 4 but still a cloth has no chance in the long run. same as a stealthy rogue which in the shadows should not be able to move faster than a lock in cloth in the day light and for periodic damage it well the rogue isnot affected for the most part because before teh spells can take proper effect the rogue just drops all the dots and becomes basically immune to anything a caster has. The Arnours with stun and with high high dps is knocking the skill out of the wood work. The one thing that still works half decent is fear but most specs that are melee can become immune to fear and just in seconds pummel a lock because a lock doesnt even have the proper dps to puncture through the heavy armours fast enough. The lock use to be awesome and now its just simply a light dps, that yes it can do good burst in destruc and the dps is good in demonolofy and in affliction its ok for long fights and pvp but it does not compare anymore to most any class when the other class is the same skill level. I couldnt even kill a toon in pvp and i was hitting him for way over a minute using dots and busting trinkets and he just sat there and then came to me and in 2 hits killed me. it never use to be that way and his gear wasnt even great pvp gear it was just the armour to damage ratio is seemingly getting more unfair. perhaps ill just drop the lock as a main like many others i know and become something with higher armour so i can still do the exact same or better dps but have way better armour so i can take huge amount of hits and live longer. and the healing like drain life and syphon on corruption sucks bad right now, it hardly helps for anything doing even a little dps against the lock.

Affliction: Arguably the top dps spec on average. Very simple, it is all about timing your unstable affliction and bane of doom when renewing them.
Destruction: Buffed recently but still the lowest spec. The spec is all a prioritized rotation. It needs another slight buff, and ill be very effective. Simplest rotation.
Demonology: Hardest spec to play effectively in PvE. If played effectively, compared to the other specs it will do the most dps. The problem is simply that it is very hard to play, so not every demo lock out there will be top.
Conclusion is that if you are newer to warlock PvE, I suggest using affliction. If you are a VERY experienced player and can have someone teach you the spec, go demo. Wait for another buff to go destro.

Benefits - good spread dmg when dot spreading, CC machine, good interrupt if timed correctly.
Problems - NO MELE PROTECTION! Any DK or warrior or rogue will !@#$ on a warlock(unless of course the lock pulls a rogue out of stealth), The amazing dmg that warlocks used to do(u were able to top dmg in every bg/arena/rbg) is much less. Now Dk's, Fire Mages, and Boomkins own the charts.
Basically the class is broken in that its dmg is not what it used to be, and will die if it touched by mele. The only current use of a warlock is to CC the hell out of the other team. Blizzard must fix the problem of a lack of mele protection.
