Diablo® III

Monk Builds 2.1

Now that the game has been out a while, there seems to be several layers of monk build discussions.

Since this is a forum and attracts a higher percent of non-casual gamers, the most common discussion is how to max gear and builds for the highest GRift. An end game maximization strategy and very relevant with PTR and an "opportunity" to have the Monks Uber-end game builds reviewed for modification (hopefully) before patch goes live.

A lesser percentage of higher T level build diversification builds/questions. These seem to be consistently met with "T6 is not end game", "Anyone can clear T6". Build diversification is an interesting part of the game and the class. As any post, useful information is good, useless comments are just a waste of everyone's time. T5 and T6 will continue to be a big percentage of play time for most players, to level, farm, and try new builds. They are not irrelevant.

Newer players trying Monk and posting builds and asking advice. We were all there at one time, probably came on the forums, if you are reading this you are on the forum so a pretty good chance, and looked at builds, posts, vids, and asked questions. Helpful answers were appreciated, useless comments again are a waste of everyone's time.

The Monk forum was a good place to actually discuss things at a higher cerebral level than General Discussion. It was relatively free of the epeen I rock and you are a noob posts. It was a good place to go for information on the Monk class.

With the patch looming and soon to go live, there likely will be more interest in playing a Monk. Which means more interest in the class forum. Hopefully it will be a good place for Monks to go to get information and ask questions to increase their enjoyment of playing a Monk.

I didn't get the point of the message.
You kind of try to say that there are low T farmers and they also need advice when all others do is discussing the Grift builds.

Well there is a reason for that: You don't need too much extra advice on monk build before you reach t4-5-6-grift.
There are few guides that tell you to focus on this or that (CHD/CC/AS/LPH or LPSS/ gems in sockets/all res vs single ele res and others). And this is enough. There is no big deal of a question whether you take 6 CDR or 8 Crit chance if you are all in yellow with no sets and farming master difficuilty.

I also got from your message that there is no discussion over the questions that pop up in newbe minds. If I got your point right, then what you say is wrong. There is a ton of discussion on mechanics of the game and of the monk in particular. Druin opened a thread for that where he combined alot of goods things.

So once again... What was your point of the message?

The point is pretty clear.

The last several T5/T6 builds posts were filled with T6 is not end game, anyone can do T6 comments.

Kind of like this. Players who are playing around with different builds or leveling up a specific build may like some advice or have a few specific questions. Where should these be asked if not the class forum? Should everyone just be quiet until they hit T4?

If you play public games, there are many players in the lower Torments that could use some advice.

Guides are good, but you seem to have the philosophy that they are enough, so if a player is decked out in rares and farming master, they won't have questions on how to level their gear/build?

tldr: The class forum should be a good place for players of all skill levels to come and ask questions or discuss builds and an opportunity for interested players to give them advice.

It is. Nothing has changed in how people comment to new players. Of course, there will be trolls, but in general most people have been helpful. Perhaps a more acceptable reason that most guides cater to higher torments is because of the fact that we always aim to push the class to the limit and it should be the ultimate goal anyway. There are better rewards in doing higher torments and yes most rewards are subpar, but these are rewards nonetheless.

Sure, you can do whatever you wish on this game, play on whatever difficulty. However, why would anyone need advice on playing on a lower difficulty if the existing guides pave the way to achieving success in a higher difficulty? I myself would be glad to hand out advice if anyone needs it, but playing the class frequently and aiming for the items that work with the most viable builds for higher difficulties would be better don't you think?
