why donate pennies to a bunch of different organizations, making almost no difference, when you could donate a decent sized amount to 1 and actually help their cause?

this has been addressed before...

but to restate it for your convenience, it is so we don't have to deal with people bickering over one particular charitable organization. This way, it is easier to focus on the concept.

As for the small amounts... there is this thing called addition, it's pretty neat; works kinda like this:

$5 + $5 + $10 + $5 = $25

Over time, all these small donations will add up to significant sums. The more important thing right now is to gather support for the concept of charitable gaming. Plus most of the items I sell on RMAH these days are for less than $20.

Donating to charities is all fine and good, But trying to make the RMAH look good.........Well./ I maybe wrong but this looks more like a clever tactic to me To embellish The RMAH.
I commend your actions. Keep up the good work.

over time no one's gonna buy !@#$ on this game anymore and those "significant sums" will never add up. focus on a *couple* really good charities rather than dozens.

its kinda like having an alt - if you had focused all effort on your main he'd be a hell of a lot better, but instead you just have a bunch of %^-*ty, useless alts.

This is about an industry leader with one of the biggest virtual economies making a statement. With Internet infrastructure rapidly expanding and the cost of computing dropping, these creations are only going to get bigger and more lucrative as time goes on. We aren't too far away from games selling 10m copies, 30m plus copies in their first week of sales. Why not incorporate a little philanthropy with our entertainment? Two birds with one stone.. a win-win.. these are the kind of things that come to mind no?

And does it really matter if it makes the RMAH look good? Bottom-line, $ will go charitable causes..

That does not convince me at all. I have no idea what you do with your money nor do i care too. The simple fact is that it seems the loot is rigged and we are somewhat forced to using the RMAH.
I do not support this worse than Vegas type game structure.
And the last time i was in Vegas, Even they did not try and claim oh some of the cash you suckers lose will go to a charity of our choice.
Yeah moma needs a new house and daddy needs a new boat. :)
zero187, I've donated nearly a thousand dollars in the past week. All of it was from RMAH sales. Is that not a significant amount to you? Considering I'm just one of hundreds of thousands of players, is it too difficult for you to imagine how much money could have been raised with a few game-wide promotions? A couple hundred thousand here, a couple hundred thousand there, it's certainly feasible. This game and future releases have enormous potential. Even if this game begins to die out, the concept of charitable gaming will live on. That's the point.

Look at how Blizzard and WoW players were able to raise a significant amount of money for Make-A-Wish. Please don't underestimate the power of collective effort.

Now go ask for your allowance early and make a donation! Have a nice day zero187!
Kookymunster,

We as players, are paying for entertainment. Thanks to new developments in technology and the gaming industry, our entertainment can now pay for charitable efforts. How can you not see that this is quite an amazing thing?

I'm not here to discuss problems with loot or mf or gear swaps. There are other threads for that. This is about the power of games to raise money for charitable causes. Things like cancer research, innovation in education, emergency care, etc; things that are relevant to everyone regardless of their opinion of charities.
70% to charity

30% to Blizzard

I think the OP is trying too hard to put a positive spin on the greediest game in history.
