True DPS of DT WW barb - Player Rankings P2

This is meant as a guide for fellow barbarian players to calculate their true damage output. The number shown on the character wrong is for the most part very inaccurate when assessing your damage output because RLTW and WW work on a breakpoint system instead of scaling linearly with IAS like conventional skills like frenzy. The purpose of this guide is to give players a way to calculate their true damage per second, run efficiency score which is how efficient their character is at gaining exp and items while running at the optimal monster power and finally battle efficiency score which somewhat similar to heroscore but with a more precise DPS calculation For those wishing to tackle the highest monster powers.

Part 1: https://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/6864416737

**************************************************************
True damage per second:
Dual wield Tdps = [(.7 *M) + (.4833 * ({M+O} /2)) ]* t
2H Tdps = [(.7 *M) + (.4833 * M) ]* t = 1.1833*m*t

.7 = .2 coefficient of RLTW * average number of tornadoes 3.5
.4883 = coefficient for combined weapon DW
M= average damage of mainhand weapon
O= average damage of offhand weapon
t = average ticks per second of both weapons

Tdps calculator can be found here : http://www.d3rawr.com/d

-Simply upload your profile and expand the dps detailed tab
-Disable passives by selecting the icons at the bottom of the page

**************************************************************

-Note that items with WW crit chance % will need you to add x crit to your stats, and this will need to be calculated manually: the (.4833 * ({M+O} /2)) part of the formula with those enhanced dps values instead.

Ticks per second can be calculated here: https://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/6037344497
It is the average of Ticks per second : For example with a 1.2 ASP weapon and a 1.3 ASP weapon you would have t = (3.75+4 )/2 or 3.875. A worthwhile read for any DT WW barb.

1.17648-1.25000 aps - 16 frames per tick - 3.75 ticks per second - 12 ticks
1.25001-1.33333 aps - 15 frames per tick - 4.00 ticks per second - 12 ticks

EHP : http://www.diabloprogress.com/
-Use d3prog for now.
-DO NOT use amethyst in helm to boost EHP.
-DO NOT alternate gear sets to get on mutliple lists - use the same gear set for all lists.

MS – Movespeed multiplier : [(armor ias/100 + 1) + (( wotb uptime % * 20)/100+1)+ (( sprint uptime % * 20)/100+1)]]
-Work in progress

**************************************************************
BES - Battle efficiency score: { (Tdps * [ehp^(1/1.02)] * [MS ^ (1/1.15)] * (1+ [ls/25] ) * (1+ [((t^(1/1.05)) *.05 ] ) * (1+ [loh/5500] ) } /500,000]
-Intended for those planning on doing extremely high monster powers (8-10), a measure of overall combat effectiveness
-The 1/1.02 is intended to diminish the effects of ehp as values far past 1.5m are not optimal even in mp 10

**************************************************************
RES - Run Efficiency Score: [ Tdps^(1/1.12) * [MS ^ (1/1.24)] * [EHP ^(1/1.35)] * (1+ [ls / 25] ) * (1+ [loh/5000] ) * (1+ [(t^1.15) *.05 ] ) * (1.1 for axe/mace or * 1.3 for MW , 1 for all other weapons) / ]16,000

ls=lifesteal
loh=life on hit
ms = movement speed from gear
**************************************************************
-Intended to measure how fast you can farm exp and items at the optimal monster power
-for the sake simplicity, EHP is heavily diminished here because it is assumed you can do your runs without deaths and the bases of DTWW begins with a level of defense that makes deaths rare or nonexistent. Any build where death is common should not even be considered for a RES score.
-The 1/1.24 is intended to diminish the effects of bonus MS ( 35.6 % multiplier at 84 MS) for the moment only gear based MS is measured as it is not possible to ask players to accurately assses their WOTB uptime. The flat score multiplier accounts for the fury generation of MW and the CC of axe/maces, other.
-A measurable output would be xp/min kills/min

WW/RLTW ias breakpoints and Tdps formulation are a product of Nubtro#2147 's superb research and most of the data here would not be possible without his contributions. His thread can be found here:

Tdps calculation can be found here : http://www.d3rawr.com/d
Special thanks to sssd#2577 for adding this calculation!

Complete LS LoH formulation can be found here:

Please give both Nubtro, sssd and Keik special thanks if you see them in game!

Findings and after thought.

It should be painfully evident that the paper dps you see on your character sheet is flat out wrong or at the very least misleading. In particular, low IAS high dps builds are doing much less than what paper dps suggests. We also now see how absolutely insignicant the OH damage is.

1) Dps != Tdps, its very possible to gain paper dps but also lose Tdps at the same time. Usually only the case if you picked a low stat but high DPS OH.

2) OH damage is a tiny part of Tdps and it should be used instead to buff the MH with CD an str as well as provide essentials like loh and or LS. Because you alternate weapon speeds, your OH should be as fast as possible. A 200 dps 200 CD 200 str item will likely outperform a 800 dps 100 cd 100 str item.

3) MH base damage is crucially important and for the sake of Tdps optimization.
A 1200 Dps 100 CD weapon will often outperform a 1000 dps 200 CD weapon but would likely be a bit cheaper. This is because the damage gain to The OH is marginal and +1 mh DPS is roughly equal to .5 CD.

4) Ias->Ticks per second is the key to a successful DT WW barb. Fury is the lifeblood of DTWW and the biggest enabler of fury gen because a critical hit base is ticks per second. This definitively proves high IAS DW > Skorn barb low or mid IAS for the purpose of fury generation AS well as sustained and reliable damage output. Essentially every important aspect of WW DT.

5) Regardles of Tdps how fast you can farm will be governed by how fast you can move when running at your optimal MP level. This means the key factor in farm speed is whether or not you can maintain WotB. 1.05 has made this incredibly difficult. Its possible to have a high Tdps score but horrid farming speed if enemies die so fast that you cant generate enough fury to sprint or wotb.

6) LS>LOh for the vast majority of players once the .08 RLTW proc coeff is in place. High ASP players will find that 3 ls is about equal to 1000 loh and players with 800k Tdps always benefit more from ls than loh at a 3:1000 ratio.

excellent post, i think alot of barbs can learn alot from this and it will help them gear up for 1.05

Lorenze, I swapped my gears for 1.0.5 in and recalc. it below. Please update the list whenever u feel like it. It seems to me that you use tDPS vs. Elite in your list?

Btw, frankly thanks for the excellent initiations, I didn't know several details until reading yours, very good collection of many stuffs WW players should know in one easy go.

Suggestions for my gearing are welcome, though I may not be able to upgrade anything anyway (probably not enough gold). As for the Echoing Fury as a mainhand, can't say I love it, but it serves it purposes, where my Belt's 5.0% chance to freeze counter about half of the fear proc. Can't afford WW SoJ (cold) either for now.

EHP: 720,688

DPS: 104022.96
tDPS: 417460
vs. Demons:
DPS: 119626.4
tDPS: 480079
vs. Elite:
DPS: 108183.88
tDPS: 434158
vs. Elite Demons:
DPS: 123787.32
tDPS: 496777

Hello, for now, use part one until it is locked due to post limit.

elite damage is used for the calculation as whites in your optimal MP die almost instantly and area non factor.

According to d3rawr, my stats are:
tDPS: 898579
BES: 7700381

So what does that mean? tDPS just means my true DPS assuming I use WW barb builds, while BES is a measure of the monster power I could do?

If so, based on this what MP should I be doing?

What is my RES? The number than measures efficiency with XP and items?

Thanks huanAK! So basically, I would be more efficient (DPS wise) going with a HOTA build?

huanAK - I read your replies in some other threads about HOTA and you seem to know alot about it! Its hard finding good guides on it, do you mind responding to my help thread below? :P

Sadly, I don't think I will qualify either because I don't have 20k elite kills on barb so far (wiz has been my main) :(

Guys notice that this was from October right? Items costed a lot more compared to nowadays, so hall scores would be much higher now.

Also, Lorenze isn't on the boards anymore as far as I know....he was a serial lurker for a while, but I doubt he will keep this up....no use in submitting scores.
