Diablo® III

How Crafting Failed! A sad story.

Remember when crafting was awesome. It was a vital part of this game. It was rare to have top crafting plans. ? Ahhhh the good old days.

First drop rate of plans. This should be extremely low. So that way its a valuable find like it used to be. Remember Gloves going for 46mil a plan just to try and craft some trifecta gloves and strike it rich and sell for 400mil. Plans should be a BIG find in farming not a common occurrence. All plans should be RARE. They are yellow in color.

Now I bought plans today new Archon plans for 1205gold :( Really. Why aren't these plans 10 or 20million gold and hard to find. This was the first mistake crafting took.

2. Old plans didn't get buffed. Crafting used to bring in some big gold from time to time. There was tons of people live streaming and it was fun to watch. Now all old plans are useless this shouldn't be the case. They should be valuable and uniqe and needed. So after they buffed inferno rare drops This was the BIG decline in crafting and it fell apart. Plans were no longer 40mil to buy. You couldn't craft a great item to sell. :(

3. Crafting is a Profession!!!! Profession means you make gold from it. New plans are all Boa!! Sigh! :( Whats the point in doing a profession if you can't make something off of it. I don't mean money either I mean gold. Jewel crafting another profession you can at least make gold. Crafting you used to make bank if you struck it rich on the roll. Now. Its bound to you making the Profession of crafting even more sad.

So I just feel crafting needs to be totally Revamped. The drop rate of plans need to come down 400% so that way they have value. Old plans need buffing and maybe some uniqueness. Im sure others can have some great ideas on how we can bring Crafting back to a Awesome Profession again.

I like crafting the way it is. Why does everything in the game have to be about value in the AH?

With the wide range of affixes and no control over the outcome, what you guys mistake for crafting is in fact gambling. Same as duelling is now brawling. Please use proper words and never use the C-word for placing a bet at the Blacksmith Casino.
And yes, if every aspect of this game were only appreciated for its potential to sell stuff to others, then this would suck on a moral, ethic, philosophical and religious level. Power to the noobs, Elitists go home: The game should be equally accessible to everybody.

No. lol. Then its not a challenge or a game if that were case. I mean I don't want people to suffer. I want players to enjoy this game. I love this game. It just needs to be challenging not access to everyone that's just stupid. Top tier is for Top tier players. Not all players. Top Difficulty is for Top players that can do it. Not everyone. If everyone can do something then its not a game at all.

I couldn't possibly disagree with the OP more.

We have rare plans...in the form or legendary ones. I've played 1400 and haven't found one yet.
Easily the most scarce drop in the game and some are still worth over 50 million despite the game being out almost a year now.

Crafting as a profession still exists. Rare items still sell on the AH.
Fact is that the majority of us didn't care for crafting until this patch came out.

You also miss the whole point of this crafting change.
The purpose was to let players take advantage of the improvements.
Not force them to farm 100 hours in the hopes they might try out the system.
Nor to force people to play AH Tycoon just to afford the plans to play without the AH.

Nothing in the game should cost 20 million. Profession? This isn't an mmo.

This isn't a MMO you are correct. This is Diablo and this game is based on Economy first. Best things in this game should cost 5billion + Yes I said billions. They took the right direction with Marquise gems. To have them only available for top tiers. Just missed the boat in reseting crafting back to the original fun game of winning big. and being able to sell a item. Crafting craze that you speak of now will last for 2 weeks then everyone will be crying the blues even more then they are on how its terrible.

People like you don't want everyone to have good gears because then you wouldn't feel special. It's a damn single player game, everyone should be able to have good gear and enjoy the game. To hell with the economy.

If they don't enjoy the game they will quit, then you won't have anyone to sell your 5 billion stuff too.

People like me are True Diablo fans. How can you say the hell with Economy when its so important to the game quality. No not everyone should have top gear. Then everyone would have the same ranking on Diabloprogress.com How boring would that be.? The gear has always been the single greatest thing in Diablo's history. Finding ultra rares and making a godly char. This is Diablo. That how Diablo should be represented and always has been. The fact gear can roll so randomly is what makes this game great cause everyone can have the same set but 1 person can have a much better set that separates him from the crowd. This is a fashion show to basically have the best gear and be ranked Tops in world if you can. If you don't think so then you haven't been playing Diablo1,2 and now 3.

I must have missed the memo were it says Diablo is a virtual management and economy simulation game. And I see how you could believe such a thing, since obviously the devs did everything to control and promote item trade between players.
If this is what you enjoy, you are welcome to it, OP. We all deserve to have a good time. Myself, I just want to plough through monster mobs of increasing strength and being able to do so in my own time and by my own devices. Alas I can't, because the game fails me - and many others - in that respect.

Don't teach me about Diablo please, I'm 51 years old and have been playing Diablo since 1996.

Everyone should have access to good gear. 5 billion doesn't give that. People would still have better gear then others because of the way loot rolls. It just shouldn't cost 5 bill or over 20 million in fact.

Everyone should have access to the good gear.

Crafting does that.

You are not the only Diablo fan.

Wrong. The game is based on farming which drives the market and economy around it. Skipping that crucial step really invalidates the premise of what you are saying. And the best items in the game do sell for billions..just not on the ah or rmah.

I totally Agree!!! Sorry the point I was trying to drive as well is what you just stated. So thankyou.

Best weapon in game sold for 40billion. get with the times. These items that are ultra rare should cost that much. That's what I love about this game.

I am with the times, it's "people like you" that have ruined this game and the reason Blizzard has to take steps to fix it, like the new crafting. It makes good gear available to everyone. Even if you cry about it.

That's how new Crafting plans should be. Is the point.

Blizz I thinks wants to fix this by making trading and items cost a lot. Its not people like me that ruined the game. There are plenty of thread on how the economy isn't doing great and how Boas are terrible. Hopefully in 1.08 blizz gets us back on track and there are no more Boa's in the game.

Heres a good thread. one of the many
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/7923692916 How the economy is falling.

I just want the game to be fun and don't want ppl to lose interest or this game to fizzle out. We will have that happen if we don't get rid of Boa's and help the economy improve. People just won't play if there is no economy. Period.

This is like saying everyone should have access to a million dollar home. Well we all know the reality there. Hope that is a good analogy to help you understand.
