Newsfeed data

API Discussion
As we know, battle.net had implemented RSS channels with latest articles on website for every game (like in d3: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/feed/news )
Well.. had.

New website of Overwatch don't have this function (or it is well hidden), posibly becouse of website domain change and all links structure.

The same thing apply to World of Warcraft website - there is no RSS channel on new domain, but in this case RSS still works on previous link ( http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/feed/news )

So my question is: Can we expect some day to refill this holes in our magnificent notification systems? ;) With RSS channels, or maybe integrated with API? It would be awsome to have a chance to download newsfeed by it.

I actually didn't now we did that. That's pretty cool.

Good question! I'll see if I can chase that down next week.
So.... BlizzCon has passed (I cannot lie! I hoped, that Mike during opening ceremony would stop everything, and announce new RSS ;) ).
Anything new appear in this matter?
Greetings Wanderer Eridor,

I've contacted our developers, and once I get more information I will post at update here!
< friendly ping >
I am particularly interested in the WoW feed. The old one hasn't been updated in months.

Are there any news to this topic? I would love an Overwatch RSS Feed. There are crawler out there who try to get the same result, but they barely grab the design and are most of the time broken.
I would really like to see an updated feed for us to use with WoW. I would also subscribe to an OW one.

Please don't forget us!
So.

Any update on this?
We need this back for all channels! :D
Hello, could we get an update on this?

Thank you!
Have you thought about scrapping the warcraft and overwatch websites to make your own news feed? Although it's not ideal, it's better than nothing right?

In my case I wrote a script that checks Blizzard's news page a few times every day, parses the data into individual pieces and saves the changes to a DB so I can load the last x number of news items quickly without having to waste Blizzard's bandwidth.
In thinking about this some more, I've decided that instead of encouraging people to create their own bots to flood Blizzard's site with, I'll open up my private API for others to use.

Please note that this API is my own personal project and doesn't come with any sort of warranty or uptime guarantee, nor is it endorsed by Blizzard (for obvious reasons as they reserve the right to modify their website without notice) but if it's useful to anyone, you can get basic feed data by using the following url:

http://api.guildtrack.com/wow/news/

By default it returns a JSON string containing the Post URL, Featured Image, Title and Excerpt of the last 10 published items. If you want a different amount (up to 50) you can add it to the end of the URL like so:

http://api.guildtrack.com/wow/news/5

Just please be kind and cache the results if you use it. The API only fetches updates every few hours so this site doesn't update a super often.

One known bug (that I don't have any current plans to address) is that if Blizzard renames a post it will get saved as a new item.
Since I've seen a number of people asking for an Overwatch news feed as well I've gone and put one together. I've been testing it the last few days and it seems to work well but if you notice any issues feel free to let me know (I'm not actively using it so I might not catch it right away). One thing to note is that while in theory you can request up to the last 50 items I haven't been tracking it long enough to have that many items in my DB.

Anyways, feel free to access it via https://api.guildtrack.com/overwatch/news/

I put together some examples at http://api.guildtrack.com/examples/ that you can check out as well. Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see added to this. No promises, but I'm open to ideas.
Any luck with finding out about RSS feeds? I use them for every single other major and minor site that I follow.

I am pretty sure, that Blizz's ToS forbids it. After all, nobody wants to have traffic overload from bots and automated scripts.
The only way is to sit down, make the saddes impression we can... and wait for webdevs

I was also wondering why the wow feeds are not updated anymore any update on this ?

edit: been digging around a bit in the html of wow page and found this (its not really as good as a atom/rss feed but its something)

<div class="Pagination" data-url="/en-gb/news.frag" data-page="1" data-total="19" queryselectoralways="26">
the interesting part is /en-gb/news.frag if you go to this url you basicly get all the news items in html form

https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/news.frag
I follow many amateur sites that all maintain RSS feeds, and I cannot believe this would take resources and time away from other features. Please bring back the RSS feeds.
Can we get an 'All News' RSS feed for https://news.blizzard.com/en-us ?
Any updates on this?
so instead of making another one for they take them all down....
