D2 Unable to Connect (Not a Cdkey Issue)

Support
**UPDATE**
I am now able to connect to bnet as normal! I'm not sure what changed but it's working fine for me now. If it's the result of work from the classic team, I'd like to say thank you! ;)

**UPDATE#2**

As of this morning I am no longer able to connect on Asia and Europe :(

This really sucks.

*************

Hello!

I first encountered this problem at around 08:00 (GMT) on the 15th of August. I was unable to connect to bnet. I discovered that there had been server upgrades, and also a thread where a guy had to keep trying to log in over and over again, until it worked. So, I tried that and I could only log in after 50+ tries, then I was able to play as normal. As soon as I log out it's broken again and I have to try 50+ times again to log back in. On the 14th of August I played only briefly in the morning before work, and everything was working fine, and didn't play at all that evening.

The timeline suggests that this is a direct result of the recent server upgrades, and is not in any way a temp ban considering that I hardly played in the 24 hours previous to the upgrade.

I contacted support and they suggested I should create a forum topic to shed light on this issue! So here I am!

Any help would be much appreciated :)

EDIT: Seems like quite a few people are having the same issue! I suggest that anyone experiencing this problem should make a thread and include the information outlined in this article - https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/7870

Using Windows 10. I'm in the UK, my ISP is TalkTalk although I believe they use infrastructure provided by BT Openreach. It's standard fibre optic broadband, I connect wirelessly to a router. My IP address is dynamic, and seems to have a short lease duration, so changes regularly.

I have included a trace route

--------------------
Also have this issue.
Its not a 16bit cdkey issue as I have "claimed" my old keys and associated with my bliz account. Logging in to BNet shows 26digit keys for both d2 and lod.
I have uninstalled/re-installed from digital download using 26digit keys.

Game is now back to 1.12b but wont connect to update.
Was completely fine playing a couple of days ago.
Last game played prob lasted about 30-40mins (my standard mfrun over multiple acts) so this should not have triggered realm down (FYI im getting cant connect message not a RD message)
If you keep trying to connect again and again, can you get through? I'm talking like possibly 100+ tries, massive pain in the !@# I know! But once you get in it should patch, then do it all over again to actually play.

Yeah it's definitely not a temp ban or realm down or anything like that. Something broke in the server upgrade, I'm guessing it might be affecting people on certain ISP's or something!

I suggest that you should make a thread and include the information outlined in this article - https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/7870

No issues doing a tracert to this address (can even telnet to port 6112 on this server but not 4000???)
And yep, i did try spamming connect and got in once! Now back to unable to connect... this is crap!
Bump!
quit beating yourself over the head trying to fix it on your end. Its their servers and they are not fixing it.
I used my 16 bit original keys on 2 comps until a few days ago. They have been registered with different email accounts for many years and have the new keys attached.
After downloading d2 and Lod with the new keys, I get the "your were disconnected from Bnet"
Its not my keys , its not my settings, it has absolutely nothing to do with what I am doing.
At this point, I doubt that even purchasing new keys will let you log in and then you are stuck with non responsive support team.
Well, I've tried absolutely everything I can think of for the moment. I guess all we can do is wait for some help..

I might be totally wrong but I think I read somewhere that your problem can be fixed by manually installing the 14d patch https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/7836
patch install might have worked for some, but didn't fix my issue. can't logon still.
Same patch just made it so that when I did manage to connect (you have to spam logon like 500 times) that it actually connected.

This is an issue on their side of the fence and it looks like the support sprayed and walked away on this one!

You would think after a patch they would check to see if there were any issues instead of closing support calls with copy and paste replies.
*I re-opened my support call with almost a page of information on why it wasnt a temp ban only to have my ticket closed with the same copy/paste garbage.
bump!
Had a good weekend bliz support? We really need a reply on this soon!

it's Sunday afternoon on the west coast US as of writing. They are probably still having a good weekend.
Bump!
Still no reaction from support? At this rate I wont have any reason to come back as all my chars will have poofed....

SERIOUSLY SUPPORT YOU DROP A PATCH THAT BLOCKS US FROM PLAYING AND THEN DONT EVEN BOTHER TO CHECK FORUMS FOR A WHOLE WEEK?!!!

Hi guys, for the last three days I was trying to log on my account (recently converted my cdkey to 26digit version) and I was stuck into "Checking Versions". I opened a ticket within Battle.net support and they told me that it seems that my account or cd-key got a temp restriction on the servers and I needed to wait for a few days.

Well, today I found out an workaround that solved my problem, here it is:

1-Open Diablo 2 in Window mode (-w added on the icon parameters)
2-try to log on your account as usual
3-As sson "Checking Versions" appears, go to the "X" on the top right of Diablo Window, click and hold that button as if you wanted to close the window
4-with the butttom pressed, move the mouse inside the game area and release.
5-Voila! checking versions disappear and you are at your account login screen.

hope that work for you guys!
