Apr 2, 2015 Upcoming: End of Era 2 The end of Season 2 is fast approaching, and with it, the end of our second Era. In Diablo III, an “Era” refers to a specific period of time in which non-Seasonal leaderboards are active. At the end of an Era, all current non-Seasonal leaderboard standings will be wiped and players will be unable to attain new leaderboard ranks until a new Era begins. Similar to Seasons, players will be able to view previous rankings in-game and as well as on our website. Similar to Era 1, Era 2 will be ending alongside Season 2 on Sunday, April 5. Era 3 will begin immediately afterward, while Season 3 is expected to begin on Friday, April 10. At the end of Season 2, all heroes created during the Season will become non-Seasonal and will be able to compete on the Era 3 leaderboards. For more information on the end of the Season and upcoming Season rollover, click here. Thank you for participating in Era 2! We look forward to seeing you in Sanctuary.Tyvalir0 Apr 2, 2015

Jan 5 Known Issue: Portrait Frames Unavailable Hey all, With Patch 2.4.3, some of you may have noticed that you earned a portrait frame by completing certain achievements associated with the Darkening of Tristram event. However, there isn't currently a way to access or change your portrait frames on consoles. This is a known issue, and we are adding support for these portrait frames (as well as others) in the same patch that Seasons will launch on consoles. Once that patch goes live, any portrait frames you have previously earned as of Patch 2.4.3 and onward will be accessible/able to be equipped. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused, and look forward to bringing Seasons (and more) to you soon!Nevalistis0 Jan 5

Aug 18 Firebird's Finery Hotfix (8/17) We will be releasing a hotfix shortly to prevent an unintended interaction with Firebird's Finery and Brawling. Some of you may be aware that when changing the live game, some changes are done as a hotfix and other fixes wait until a future patch. Sometimes the decision is clear, sometimes it’s more complicated. This particular change falls on the hotfix side of the fence. Aside from technical reasons (in which some require patches while others can be hotfixed), there are several factors we examine when we consider issuing a hotfix. First, how much of an advantage does the bug give? Second, how likely is it that someone will trigger this bug unintentionally? Is it common that someone will perform it by accident? How likely is this bug to impact the performance of players on the leaderboard for the length of the Season? Looking at all these factors for this particular case we've determined that there is very little chance for accidental use, and it's early enough that resolving this immediately won't result in stale or unbeatable leaderboards for the rest of the Season. We advise against making use of this bug. As in the past, we will be taking a look on a case by case basis to determine if any action is necessary.Nevalistis0 Aug 18
Aug 4 Console Hotfixes - [Updated: 08/04] Several hotfixes have been deployed to the Ultimate Evil Edition on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As we know some of you have been eagerly awaiting this news, we've consolidated this news in one place for your convenience. These hotfixes should not require you to download a new patch. Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented while others may require restarting the game to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch. Also note that changes to certain abilities will not be reflected in its tooltip until a patch is issued. Patch notes are denoted by the date on which they were applied. Last updated August 4, 2016 Fixed an issue where Energy Twisters cast for free by Etched Sigil would not despawn properly when produced by Arcane Torrent. (8/4) Fixed an issue where Mythic Rhythm would be consumed by Exploding Palms cast by the Uliana's 2-piece bonus. (8/2) Note: Mythic Rhythm should only apply to Spirit Spenders that are cast manually, not by items or set bonuses. The internal cooldown for gaining stacks for Chantodo’s Resolve now dynamically updates with your Attack Speed. (8/2) Dungeon of Firebird’s Finery Fixed an issue where players would not always get credit for igniting 20 enemies within 3 seconds. (8/2)Nevalistis1 Aug 4
Aug 2 Patch 2.4.2 Now Live on PS4 and Xbox One Greetings, nephalem! Patch 2.4.2 is now live for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For the PC version of the patch notes, please click here. This patch includes a variety of item and skill updates, including (but not limited to): General Developer Comments Especially in group play, players were finding that pulling monsters from extended ranges to a single point on the map and crowd controlling them onto that spot was the most effective strategy. Not only does this cause server performance issues, but it is a stagnant, non-interactive way to play. These changes are targeted at making crowd control more situational, ensuring that individual contributors in a group can add to the damage of the party more frequently. Gold rewards have been adjusted. The primary gold sink at the end-game is Empowered Rifts. We want to maintain a general ratio that when you are running Greater Rifts at a particular tier, you can empower approximately 1/3rd of them. Due to the rate at which gold rewards from Greater Rifts and empower costs were scaling it made the gold reward from Nephalem Rifts, Gilded Barons and The Vault feel insignificant by comparison. Lowering the growth rate of gold costs restores the relative value of these other activities while maintaining the ability to empower approximately 1/3rd of your Greater Rifts. New difficulty levels, Torment XI-XIII have been added to the game Gold rewards have been adjusted: Greater Rift 26 and up has been rescaled to a flat 3% increase per tier Torment VII-XIII has been changed to match Greater Rift reward scaling The cost to empower a Greater Rift has been reduced to match the new gold reward rate The amount of gold dropped by the Gilded Baron Treasure Goblin has been reduced Knockbacks now apply a flat 40% increase to crowd control resistances Monsters cannot be knocked back if they are over 65% crowd control resistant Powers that apply knockbacks continuously, such as Black Hole, can bypass this resistance if they already knocked a monster back successfully. These powers increase the crowd control resistance by 20% per knockback instead of 40% Item Updates Developer Comments With Blood Shards and Kanai’s Cube, the need for the Magic Find stat has diminished since the game’s original release. Replacing the Magic Find property with Resource Cost Reduction made sense. We expect the Topaz will hone some existing builds and open up possibilities for some new ones. In addition to being one of the least popular gems, Invigorating Gemstone had a mechanic that was simply unappealing to many players. Our goal with Legendary Gems is to supply unique tools that complement a build. A gem that increases your healing is truly invigorating! Socketing a Topaz into your helm will now provide Resource Cost Reduction rather than Magic Find. This grants the same percentage bonus as Cooldown Reduction and caps at 12.5% Bottomless Potion of Chaos New Legendary Potion Teleport to another location when used below 40% health Graphical and sound effects have been added to the teleport Added a camera smoothing effect to the teleport Invigorating Gemstone Has been redesigned Each hit done increases healing received by 1% for 5 seconds Stacks up to 10 times You are now immune to Crowd Control effects at Rank 25 Several existing class sets have been slightly adjusted or received bug fixes Several existing Legendary items have been redesigned or received new powers Old versions of these Legendary items found previous to this patch will not be automatically updated with redesigned or added powers, and will need to be found again to benefit from these changes Firebird's Finery (4) Set Bonus Has been redesigned Dealing Fire damage with one of your skills causes the enemy to take 1000% weapon damage as Fire for 3 seconds. This effect can be repeated a second and third time by different skills. If an enemy is burning due to three different skills simultaneously the enemy will Ignite, dealing 3000% weapon damage per second until they die (6) Set Bonus Has been redesigned Your damage is increased by 120% and damage taken reduced by 3% for each enemy that is Ignited. This effect can stack up to 20 times. You always receive the maximum bonus whenever a nearby Elite monster is Ignited. Skill Updates Developer Commments With a plethora of Hatred spending attacks available to the Demon Hunter we want to find a unique role for Spike Trap. The redesign gives players more control on where and when Spike Trap damage was done using a mechanic unique to it. Using a Hatred spender to detonate opens up the capabilities of Spike Trap by allowing players to time their damage just right. We’ve adjusted several skills which provide buffs to groups. Taken together, these changes should encourage players in groups to contribute damage to their party, while also encouraging a more healthy variety of group compositions. For more information on this change please see this forum thread. All classes have received skill updates or bug fixes. Campaign Mode The Skeleton King will now drop Leoric's Crown beginning at Level 5 Adventure Mode Developer Comments The experience rewards for the actual completion of a Nephalem Rift felt too low, reducing the feeling of accomplishment for defeating the Rift Guardian and closing the Rift. This change is aimed at ensuring that the bulk of your reward is earned upon completion. Infernal Machine drop rates have been adjusted: There is now a 50% chance for a machine to drop on Torment I increasing to 100% on Torment IV Torment levels V-XIII have an increasing chance for a second machine to drop Nephalem Rifts Greater Rift Keys are now guaranteed from any Nephalem Rift and increasing the difficulty now increases your chance of getting a second or third key Greater Rifts Some of the Experience earned in a Greater Rift has been shifted from killing monsters to the reward for closing the rift. The overall amount of Experience earned should be roughly the same User Interface Pylons in Nephalem Rifts now have unique minimap icons The Menagerist Goblin now has a unique minimap icon May all your adventures fare well, heroes. The armies of hell await you in the depths of Sanctuary and your bravery alone is all that holds them at bay. To update your game, please make sure you are signed in to either your PlayStation Network or Xbox Live account. PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are not required to access this newest update.Nevalistis0 Aug 2
Jul 17 Changes that will affect high-end group dynamics Hey folks, Many concerns have been brought up regarding "the meta" - the current group composition perceived to be the best at high levels of play. From a design standpoint, our job as a development team is to give players tools and leave room for players to combine these tools and perform optimizations to reach the highest greater rift that they can. The top-performing 4-player group composition is not something we rigidly design. Indeed, we feel that if we designed in such a rigid manner so as to know what the best composition is beforehand, we likely haven't created a rich enough space for players to explore. Over time, the community settles on a small set of ways to combine these tools. Every so often, a discovery is made that shakes up "the meta," but these discoveries become more rare as the game matures. In reaction to this some players would like us to change the balance of the game just for the sake of change. I want to be clear—"the meta" being stale is not a good enough reason for us to take action. As Diablo matures the "meta" is not going to change every season. With that in mind, there are three criteria we use to decide whether change is warranted: 1. Does the current best composition represent a variety of classes? For example, we have taken action in the past when 3 Demon Hunters was the best answer, or 2 Monks and 2 Barbarians. 2. How far ahead is the top tier vs. the next best composition? If the top composition was 2 greater rift tiers ahead there might be a sense that there's still room for alternate specs, or people could make a playstyle choice at the sacrifice of some efficiency. When the top composition is 10 greater rift tiers ahead, then even farming groups or casual community pickup groups start to organize into this composition. 3. Most importantly, how interesting is the gameplay? As much as we'd all love to see a variety of classes and gameplay styles, it's actually the most critical that when you are playing these high-end group compositions that the gameplay is interesting and engaging. How do we define interesting and engaging? It's more interesting and engaging if you are moving occasionally than highly stationary It's more interesting and engaging if you have to adapt to the type of monster you're fighting It's more interesting and engaging when you are playing the monster mechanics It's more interesting and engaging when a group has to coordinate for maximum benefit Currently there are many suggestions on how to shake up "the meta". There have been a LOT of really great suggestions. We've reviewed many of them through the lens of the three criteria I've outlined. Most specifically many people have called for a straight up nerf of the Twisted Sword. While we are going to nerf Twisted Sword, I also want to explain why we are going to do more than that. If all we do is nerf Twisted Sword, we believe what will happen is most groups will simply swap out the current top Wizard build and go to the next highest DPS build. You'll still see a grouper/tank (usually a Monk), a puller (usually a Barbarian), a DPS buffer (a Witch Doctor) and then whoever outputs the highest DPS in the game (currently a Wizard). Only going after the Wizard is going to do very little for addressing criteria #2 and criteria #3. There are three major problems and three corresponding major changes we are looking to make. PROBLEM #1: Bringing damage support buffers is more effective than bringing a second damage dealer. Why bring damage dealer #2 when you can bring a damage support who increases the damage of damage dealer #1 by 300%? CHANGE #1: We are going to be reviewing the party-based damage buffs provided by all the classes. The degree to which some classes can buff party damage is a huge contributor to the 1 DPS - 3 Support meta. PROBLEM #2: It is too easy to group monsters together. This is bad because: It disproportionately increases the damage of the group compared to adding a 2nd damage dealer. If you have twice as many monsters grouped, not only are you dealing twice as much total damage - you're also scaling Area Damage upwards. On top of this, many of the grouping mechanics encourages stationary combat. If you're chain-pulling monsters to a point, you're fighting in one location for extended periods of time. In addition to being stationary, you’re also casting spells at a single location – it’s more engaging when you have to adjust dynamically to a changing battlefield. The grouping mechanics also act as a soft crowd-control, disabling monsters from attacking players, causing combat to feel stagnant and non-interactive. Grouping increases visual noise, which makes discerning (and hence responding to) monster mechanics difficult. Finally, it can cause server issues. While we are always working on server performance optimizations, we also need to recognize that the current game design rewards players for bringing as many monsters as possible onto the screen at once. CHANGE #2: We are going to make adjustments to crowd control and pull effects to make it harder to perpetually pull monsters onto a single point. PROBLEM #3: Extremely high rates of healing favor standing still to do more damage instead of respecting and avoiding monster mechanics . CHANGE #3: One of the reasons you can ignore most monster mechanics is the amount of healing available. Expect to see a drastic reduction in available healing. Will this affect solo play? Yes - some solo builds will be affected. For the most part we are trying to target the changes so they affect groups more than solo play. Weighing the needs of solo players vs. group players is a never ending and difficult task and in this case we feel that the quality of improvement to group play warrants the changes. It is an ongoing goal to make more builds viable, and the classes closer together in competitiveness. The requests for buffs to particular class sets or legendary items have been heard, we just feel making meaningful changes to group play is more important at this time. Will this cause the highest rift tier to go down? To be frank - probably. We've never really done this before - nerfing the top performing builds. There are open questions ahead of us. How will this make the season feel? How will this affect non-seasonal play? In the past we've always had a philosophy to adjust the balance of the game by buffing what's low, but in this case that's not really an option. Take a look at the problems and solutions being proposed - these are problems that can't be solved with larger damage numbers. These are problems with group-based damage multipliers, healing, and combat utility. Finally - I want to circle back to a statement from the start of this post - as developers we do not know what the new optimal group composition will be. We're making some significant changes here and the game is intentionally too complex for us to figure out optimal strategies on our own. The collective wisdom of the player base is far more resourceful and capable than us. As a result - we really need people to jump on the PTR and try this stuff out! Particularly 4-player groups. If some highly competitive group discovers a composition of 4 Crusaders that is the most effective but deliberately "hides" it from the rest of the community, then there's not much we, the development team, can do. While we are ultimately responsible for the quality of Diablo III, we can't improve this game without your help.Wyatt Cheng482 Jul 17
Jul 5 Mercy Wings Now Available on PS4 and Xbox One With the launch of patch 2.4.0 on PlayStation®4 and Xbox One™, a new Overwatch-themed cosmetic item has been added: Mercy Wings. This item is available at no additional cost to players who own Diablo® III: Reaper of Souls™ - Ultimate Evil Edition™ on PS4 and XB1. As of Patch 2.4.1, this item is available to all players who have downloaded the patch. To claim your Mercy Wings, simply log in to Ultimate Evil Edition on PS4 or XB1 and create a new game. Once you’re in-game, open your Inventory. Under the miscellaneous "Bag" category, you should find the item “Mercy's Gaze” containing the Mercy Wings in the "Items" tab. If you do not see the Wings right away, exit the game and wait a few minutes before re-logging. Q. Why are the Mercy Wings available at no cost to players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One? Due to restrictions with the way certain licenses (like cross-game promotional items) can integrate with our games on PS4 and XB1, players who purchase Overwatch™: Origins Edition are unable to claim the Mercy Wings bonus item in Ultimate Evil Edition on those platforms. While these players will be able to redeem the Origins Editions bonus items—including the Mercy Wings—on PC and Mac when they become available, we still wanted to find a way to let our community enjoy the Wings on PS4 and XB1. For more information on Overwatch: Origins Edition, click here. Q. If I claim the Mercy Wings on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, can I still receive them on PC if I purchase Overwatch: Origins Edition? Absolutely. If you purchase Overwatch: Origins Edition (on any platform), you will be eligible for the Mercy Wings on PC/Mac. Claiming the wings on console will not affect this.Kauza191 Jul 5

Jan 16, 2016 Issue Impacting Achievement Display There is currently an issue impacting what we call Achievement Toasts – the large, flashy pop-ups that alert you that an achievement has been earned during gameplay. Under some circumstances, these Achievement Toasts will not appear for players as they complete the requirements for achievements. This issue affects only the Achievement Toast itself. The achievement will still be earned and can be viewed elsewhere in the game. We are currently investigating a fix and hope to have it ready soon.Kauza0 Jan 16, 2016

Sep 22, 2015 Hellfire Amulet Exploit - Updated 9/22 UPDATE - 9/22 @ 3:07 p.m. PDT We have deployed the final fix as of Patch 2.3.0a that prevents exploitation of the Hellfire Amulet. We have also issued account actions against players who were found to be abusing this exploit. For more information, please refer to the post below. Thank you! -------------------------------------------------------- Hey all, We're currently working on a number of hotfixes to address an exploit that allows players to equip more than one passive from multiple Hellfire Amulets. While we don’t have an ETA for the final round of these fixes, we're looking to implement those that address the underlying bug as soon as possible in all gameplay regions and will be sure to update this thread once they are live. We're also investigating accounts which have been found to be actively using this exploit to gain an unfair advantage and account actions will be taken accordingly. This behavior not only undermines the spirit of fair play, but directly violates our in-game policies for Diablo III. It is important to us to continue maintaining a stable, safe, and enjoyable online environment for all legitimate players. This is an ongoing investigation, and we’ll be continuing to monitor Battle.net and will take additional action as needed. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to game responsibly. Not only can using exploits lead to account penalties, but it can negatively impact the enjoyment of your fellow players. We're working as quickly as we can to fix the underlying issue, and we'd appreciate your help in keeping the effects of this exploit as minimal as possible until it's removed from the game. For more information on how to report exploitative behavior, click here. For questions regarding account actions, please refer to our Account Administration. Thanks!Nevalistis1 Sep 22, 2015

May 9, 2015 PTR Community Buff Activated As you may have noticed, Patch 2.2.1 recently became available for testing on the PTR. You can check out the patch notes here, and if you’re looking to participate, you can find out how to do so here. Originally this patch was not going to require a significant amount of testing as it would have had a relatively small impact for the Americas, Europe, and Asia regions. Earlier today, though, we implemented a number of server performance optimizations that we believe would benefit from additional testing. To facilitate stress testing, we’re going to implement the 2000% increase to the Legendary Item Drop Rate again on the PTR. Currently, we still do not plan on opening up the PTR Feedback or PTR Bug Report forums, since most of these changes will have no noticeable impact on your gameplay. That said, if you encounter a bug while on the PTR then please feel free to leave a comment about it on the PTR patch notes.Grimiku0 May 9, 2015

Apr 22, 2015 Upcoming Hotfix for Blood Thief Exploit (UPDATED) UPDATE – April 21 @ 6:05 p.m. PDT While this issue is now resolved, we know a lot of players have questions about what happened and how we responded, so we wanted to take some time to discuss a few of the details with you here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE – April 16 @ 3:30 p.m. PDT This hotfix is now live. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey everyone, We're currently working on a hotfix to address an exploit that allows players to gain a significantly larger number of Blood Shards from Blood Thief goblins than intended. While we don't have an ETA to share at this time, we're looking to implement the hotfix (which will also address the underlying bug) as soon as possible in all gameplay regions and will be sure to update this thread once it's live. With this, we're also in the process of actioning accounts which have been found to be actively using this exploit to gain an unfair advantage. This behavior not only undermines the spirit play, but directly violates our in-game policies for Diablo III. As always, maintaining a stable, safe, and enjoyable online environment for legitimate players is very important to us, and we'll be continuing to keep watch on Battle.net and taking additional action as needed. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to please game responsibly. Not only can using exploits lead to account penalties, but it can also negatively impact the enjoyment of your fellow players. This is why we're working as quickly as we can to fix the underlying issue, and why we'd appreciate your help in keeping the effects of the exploit as minimal as possible until it's removed from the game. For more information on how to report exploitative behavior, click here. For questions regarding account actions, please refer to Account Administration. Thank you!Lylirra1 Apr 22, 2015
Apr 17, 2015 Blood Thief Goblin Disabled on PS4/XB1 Hey everyone, As some of you may have noticed, we recently deployed a hotfix for PC to address an exploit that allowed players to gain a significantly larger number of Blood Shards from Blood Thief goblins than intended. This issue exists for Ultimate Evil Edition on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well, but we’re unable to correct it via hotfix at this time for these platforms. We’re looking to implement a permanent solution in a future console patch, but don’t have an ETA to share. In the meantime, to help mitigate the effects of the exploit, we’ve temporarily disabled Blood Thief goblins from spawning on PS4 and XB1 until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding!Lylirra0 Apr 17, 2015
Apr 15, 2015 Patch 2.2.1 PTR Notice Hey everyone, As you may have noticed, Patch 2.2.1 recently became available for testing on the PTR. You can check out the patch notes here, and if you’re looking to participate, you can find out how to do so here. It’s important to note that, unlike other patches we’ve put up on the PTR in the past for Diablo III, Patch 2.2.1 will be relatively small for the Americas, Europe, and Asia gameplay regions. It’s not going to be a big content patch like Patch 2.1.0 or Patch 2.2.0, but instead will focus on things like fixing bugs and addressing other minor issues players have reported. Despite its size, we’re still doing some testing that will require this patch to be on the PTR for a period of time. Given the scope of the patch, however, we’ve elected not to open up our PTR Feedback forums. If you’re a fan of testing upcoming content, don’t worry! You’re still welcome to hop on the PTR and test to your heart’s content. And we’ll still monitor our other forums for your feedback to pass on to the development team—not only about the changes on the PTR, but about existing content as well. Thanks for your understanding, and we’ll see you in Sanctuary!Tyvalir0 Apr 15, 2015

Parental Controls: PlayStation 4 users who are Parentally Restricted will not receive these hotfixes. In order to modify Parental Control settings for the PS4 console, please refer to Sony's Support Sites: PS4: https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5097/~/ps4-parental-controls New Gaming Sessions: On the PS4 and Xbox One, users may be required to play online* in order for the hotfix to be saved between gaming sessions. After the hotfix file has been downloaded and installed, no additional steps will be required. Ultimate Evil Edition games created on Xbox One which were previously hotfixed, but are no longer connected online can still be played as normal, but without the hotfix change. Users on both platforms must be signed into their respective PlayStation Network or Xbox Live accounts to be eligible for hotfixes (PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are not required, however). Apr 7, 2015 Patch 2.2.0 Features and Data Mining Development for patch 2.2.0 has been underway for some time and we'll be launching the PTR shortly. We've got great quality of life changes and new content coming in our next patch, and we'll have even more details to share in the near future. In the meantime, some new features may start to show up in data mined information for patch 2.2.0 that will not apply to all regions. Specifically, the following features will not apply to the Americas: A new currency called "Platinum" Timed experience boosts New cosmetic items including wings, non-combat pets, and character portraits References to stash space and character slot expansions A new UI interface that references the above information While the above features will not apply to this region, players will still benefit from some of the quality of life perks tied to these additions, such as a streamlined UI for selecting cosmetic benefits like pets and Collector's Edition wings. We recognize that many players have expressed an interest in microtransactions being added to Diablo III. While we may explore this model in some regions, we have no immediate plans to implement such purchases or the aforementioned features anytime soon for the Americas region.Nevalistis810 Apr 7, 2015
