Apr 20, 2014 Upcoming Hotfix - Shard of Hate (4/15) As with other recent hotfixes, we’ve got one coming up shortly that we wanted to give the community a heads up about, this time regarding the legendary Shard of Hate. We’ve been closely observing our internal reports as well as player feedback on the Shard of Hate and the general consensus is that this item feels wildly out of line compared to other items. After digging in behind the scenes, we discovered a couple of bugs with this item that we believe is the ultimate culprit. First, the internal cooldown of this item’s power was being reset each time a dual-wielding character attacked with a weapon in their other hand. This meant the effect was occurring twice as often for dual-wielding characters, and with particular skills such as Whirlwind or Tempest Rush that also carry attack speed multipliers, this effect was even more frequent. Secondly, the proc rate of the item was ignoring the proc scalar of the skill it was used with, which in simple terms caused Shard of Hate’s affix to apply every time a skill was used. Combined with the above issue, this resulted in this Legendary vastly over performing, and even more so with particular builds. The hotfixes we’re applying correct both of these unintended behaviors and have been added to our 2.0.4 Hotfixes thread. As with all major changes, we hope to provide insight as to why we felt these changes were necessary as well as give context to the decisions we ultimately make.Nevalistis1429 Apr 20, 2014
Apr 9, 2014 [UPDATED] Disconnection Issues in Nephalem Rifts Hi all, we're continuing to monitor reports of disconnections when in Nephalem Rifts. If you're continuing to experience disconnects while playing, you may want to attempt deleting the following folders inside the Diablo III game folder: > Diablo III\Data_D3\PC\MPQs\Cache\ > Diablo III\Data_D3\PC\MPQs\enUS\ (this may have a different name based on your language and region) Users report being able to play multiple Rifts without disconnecting whereas they could not before deleting the folders. -From Omrakos' post.Araxom1 Apr 9, 2014
Mar 30, 2014 Upcoming Hotfixes to Legendary Items Update 3/28 @ 5:20 p.m. PT: These hotfixes have been implemented and should now be live in all regions. Please note that you may need to restart your game in order for them to go into effect. ------------------------------------------------------------ Hey everyone, As a quick heads up, we have two buffs to Legendary item drop rates coming down the pipeline. First change: We're increasing the drop rate for Legendary items (this includes Set items) in Torment 1-6. Second change: We're significantly increasing the chance for an item purchased from Kadala to be a Legendary. Both of these hotfixes are somewhat proactive, but are aimed to help improve the reward curve for players as they start to reach higher Torment difficulties. We look forward to hearing your feedback as a result of these changes! Please note that these hotfixes have not yet been implemented. Once the hotfixes are live, they will be added and updated here. Mar 29, 2014 Recent Hotfix to Monk Passive Unity Hey everyone, We’ve recently implemented a major hotfix for the Monk passive, Unity. With this hotfix, we’ve capped the number bonus damage stacks provided by the passive to 4. This means the maximum amount of bonus damage that can be achieved with Unity by the casting player is 20%, which is still fairly powerful compared to most class passive abilities. Unity’s design intent is to make players feel powerful when fighting side by side with their allies. The fantasy behind the passive is based on the idea that travelling with your Mystic Ally, follower, and other players can make you stronger and more adept at fighting your foes—which is great! At the moment, however, depending on your group make-up, the returns from Unity are vastly over-performing compared to other passives as well as other classes. We know nerfs never feel particularly great, but with a singular passive standing so far above other abilities, we hope you understand why this was the appropriate action to take. We’re aiming to provide as much transparency and clarity on these kinds of changes as possible, and we’re thankful for your patience and understanding!Nevalistis45 Mar 29, 2014
Mar 25, 2014 Loading Issues with Items, Stash Tabs, and Gold Update 3/25 @ 11:40 a.m. PT: Hey all! We've restored missing gold and items for players we were able to verify over the weekend. If you still have missing gold or items on one of characters that you believe as related to this issue, please contact Customer Support so we can continue to investigate on a case-by-case basis. Thank you so much for your patience and your reports! ------------------------------------------------------------ Update 3/20 @ 8:13 p.m. PT: Thanks to your reports and D3debug.tx files, we've been able to identify a very isolated number of players who did experience gold loss as a result of the missing gold/equipment/stash tab bug. We've developed a fix for this issue and are working to test and implement it by the end of the weekend. This fix should restore the full amount of gold lost as a result of the bug without any work required by the affected players. (Note that you need not have reported the issue in this thread to be eligible for the fix.) We sincerely apologize for any trouble this bug caused. The missing gold/equipment/stash tab should now be resolved and we hope to address any lingering issues associated with it before the launch of Reaper of Souls. :) Thank you again for your reports, and your patience! ------------------------------------------------------------ Update 3/18 @ 7:34 p.m. PT: If you continue to experience issues with missing gear that is not resolved by simple logging out and back in, we recommend attempting this player workaround: ... In addition, we are also investigating the possibility of providing a special one-time exception for Hardcore heroes specifically affected by this issue to allow for a rollback of the account, and subsequent restoration of the fallen heroes. More information is available here: ------------------------------------------------------------ Update 3/18 @ 10:40 a.m. PT: Thanks to everyone who provided D3debug.txt files. These are no longer needed at this time. We're continuing to investigate your reports of missing gold, items, and stash tabs and will provide updates in this thread as they become available. ------------------------------------------------------------ Hey everyone! Earlier this evening, some players experienced an issue where, upon logging into the game, their heroes failed to load equipped and they were unable to access or view the hero's inventory, stash tabs, or gold. This issue that caused this to happen initially has been resolved and, overall, only a small number of players were affected. In addition, there shouldn't be any permanent loss of hero data (including items, stash tabs, and gold) from our database. Players affected by this issue, however, may need to log out of the game and then back into the game in order for everything to reappear. Note that several relogs may be required for all items, stash tabs, and gold to display correctly. While this issue is considered resolved on our end, we are continuing to monitor incoming reports--particularly those on this forum! If you are still experiencing problems related to this issue, please let us know in this thread. We'd also greatly appreciate if you could provide your D3debug.txt file and bracket it in ["code"][/"code"] tags (without the quotations). This file is located in the main Diablo III game folder. Thank you in advance for your posts! We are sincerely sorry that this issue occurred and for any inconvenience it's caused. We will continue to investigate your reports as they are received. --------------------------------------------------------------- [EDITED TO ADD] If you share a D3debug.txt file, please also note what kind of issue you're still experiencing. This contextual information is very important. If needed, feel free to edit your existing post that includes the d3debug.txt file. Thank you!Lylirra285 Mar 25, 2014

Mar 24, 2014 Wings of Valor Delivery Update - // Updated // Update 3/21 @ 4:40 p.m. PT - We've received multiple reports from players who didn't think they had the wings but hadn't checked the mail/message icon that is visible in game in the lower left-hand corner. The Message will be titled, "RoS Preorder: Wings of Valor". Please keep in mind that you should be able to acquire the Wings as soon as the upgrade has been processed - with that said digital transactions can take upwards of 72 hours to complete. It doesn't usually always take that long for a transaction to process, but it can. If you upgraded over 72 hours ago, and are still not seeing the notification for the Wings in the mail/message icon - please try one or all of the following: Create a new character Close the game down, and restart the Desktop App Reset the Password If these steps do not do the trick for you, please reach out to us via our Support Portal. Thank you! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update 3/21 @ 11:00 a.m. PT - For players who prepurchased early, your Wings of Valor are now in transit and should be delivered to everyone soon. Some of you may have already received your wings, for others it may take a bit more time. Once your Wings of Valor have been delivered, claiming them is easy. Simply log into the game on any one of your heroes and look for a small mail icon in the lower left of the screen (if you're already in the game, you may need to log out and then back in). Click the mail icon to open the delivery window, select the Wings of Valor, and then click "Claim." The wings will appear in your hero's inventory and can be equipped immediately by right-clicking on the item's icon. If you've purchased the game and have not received your Wings of Valor in the next hour or so, please respond here so that we can continue to troubleshoot. Thank you so much for your patience! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey everyone! Quick update on the Wings of Valor delivery. Early this afternoon, we ran a special script to award eligible players who have digitally prepurchased Reaper of Souls their Wings of Valor. This script completed this afternoon around approximately 5:00 pm PT. Shortly after this script was run, we uncovered an issue that affected the delivery of the Wings of Valor for certain players. As a result, depending on when you digitally prepurchased the game, you may or may not have already received your wings. Here's how everything breaks down: Players who prepurchased Reaper of Souls before the script completed this afternoon will experience a delay in the delivery of their Wings of Valor. We’ve already developed a fix for this delay; however, we anticipate that the secondary script we’ll need to run to get the wings delivered to everyone will not complete until tomorrow morning (Pacific Time) at the earliest. We don’ t yet have an exact ETA to share for when the wings for this groups of players will be delivered, but we’ll be sure to provide an update in this thread as soon as we do. Players who digitally prepurchased Reaper of Souls after the script completed should experience no delay in the delivery of their Wings of Valor and can immediately redeem the item in-game. Similarly, any player who prepurchases Reaper of Souls going forward or claims a retail game key on or before March 31, 2014 will also be able to redeem the wings right away. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and will be sure to keep everyone updated as we work to get you your sparkly spoils. Thank you to all those who submitted reports!Lylirra850 Mar 24, 2014
Mar 24, 2014 Upcoming Hotfixes - 3/21/14 Some of you may have noticed I recently updated the Patch 2.0.3 Hotfixes to include a couple new upcoming changes. These hotfixes should be live later this afternoon, and we wanted to offer some clarification regarding these changes in advance (as well as to keep the Hotfix list clean of lengthy explanations). ... We've been listening to player feedback on difficulty rewards, and one of the most frequent comments we receive is that Torment difficulty isn't rewarding enough. As a result, we've reached the decision to make class-specific sets, specifically Natalya’s, Immortal Kings, Tal Rasha's, Inna's, and Zunimassa's, drop only in Torment I or above from this point forward. The class sets weren't designed as a progression, but rather as a lateral choice between different play styles. It makes sense for all of them to be obtained at the same difficulty level, alongside the other sets that will be available at 70 in Torment I+. This should also make these very strong items a little bit more rare, and when you reach level 70 and you see someone wearing a full set, you’ll know the level of play they needed to reach in order to acquire those items. The reward level of each difficulty setting and how they feel is very important to us, and it’s something we’ll continue to observe and tweak as we enter the expansion. ... It took us some time to evaluate whether or not we wanted to alter some of the current most popular runs. Our baseline for comparison for these alternative runs is to see how they stack up versus Adventure Mode and Bounty runs, and these different types of play should be on par (or at least fairly close). After extensive testing, we were finding this wasn't the case and came to the decision to make these changes. It’s a decision we wrestled with for a while, but ultimately, we want to avoid situations where the most efficient game play isn't necessarily the most engaging and our investigations revealed this to be that kind of situation. We want a larger variety, rather than only one or two particular routes, to be the most rewarding way to play. On a related note, we know a lot of you are still preparing for the launch of Reaper of Souls, so we’re also upping the ante on the Community bonus experience event. Starting right now and for this weekend only, the bonus experience provided will be upped from 50% to 100%. This should help you get all your nephalem heroes leveled and geared up for the battle against Malthael!Nevalistis978 Mar 24, 2014
Mar 19, 2014 Assistance w/HC Death Due to Missing Gear Greetings Adventurers, We’re currently investigating an issue that’s affecting some characters, causing their items, armor, and weapons to go missing upon login. Although this issue is in most situations temporary and can be corrected with repeated login attempts, there are reports that some Hardcore heroes were lost as a result of this. For accounts which were specifically impacted by this issue, our Support team is investigating the possibility of providing a special one-time exception to allow for a rollback of the account, and subsequent restoration of the fallen heroes. To contact our support with the request for this specific rollback exception, we encourage you to create a ticket through the following support portal with ‘MISSING GEAR DEATH’ in the body of the ticket: Please know that the decision to allow such an exception is not an easy one to make, and that this is not a guarantee that we will offer the rollback to all accounts that petition us with this request. Only accounts which we can verify were affected by this missing gear issue leading to the death of a Hardcore character will be considered for these rollbacks. With that said, we do want you to know that we are continuing to address this issue, and ask for all players to be aware that the issue is currently ongoing. Your deeds of valor will be remembered.Araxom0 Mar 19, 2014

Dec 26, 2013 Happy Holidays! As with years in the past, the Diablo III community team will have a reduced presence on the forums, Twitter, and Facebook over the holidays as we unwrap our very own Treasure Goblins and ring in a new year with family and friends. We're eager to hit the ground running in January, though, and look forward to discussing the delicate art of demon slaughter with you in year of our Lord (of Terror) 2014. In the meantime, whether in Sanctuary, Azeroth, Mar Sara, or beyond, we hope that you and yours share in the warmth of the season. It's truly been a pleasure for us to represent Blizzard and the Diablo III community this past year, and we want to thank each and every one of you for your support, your reports, and (most importantly) your passion. Happy holidays! Dec 26, 2013

Oct 2, 2013 Diablo III Console Patch 1.0.2 (PS3 Only) Diablo III Console Patch 1.0.2 is now live for PlayStation 3. Check out the full patch notes below to learn all about the latest changes and fixes. For a list of known issues, please visit our Console Bug Report forum. Diablo III Console Patch 1.0.2 Crash Fixes Fixed a crash that could occur when quitting the game during a cutscene. Fixed a crash that could occur when interacting with the stash while another player attempts to join your game. Fixed a crash that could occur after connection failures caused by NAT/Firewall settings. Fixed multiple crashes that could occur as a result of memory corruption. Fixed crash when casting Hex with the Painful Transformation rune on a Fetish Shaman in Acts III and IV. Removed unnecessary "Clear Skill" option that could appear on the Passive Skill screen and would crash the game when selected. Gameplay Fixes Enabling Elective Mode no longer causes "New Slot" notification stars to appear for the original slot as opposed to the slot the skill is assigned to. Hardcore characters in the process of taking fatal damage while exiting the Scorched Chapel will no longer be permanently killed. Followers can no longer permanently lose all items after migrating from one game host to another. The following four item sets will no longer repeatedly and permanently add core stat bonuses each time the player logs out of the game: Blackthorne's Armor, Endless Path, Zunimassa's Whispers, and Guardian's Contingency. (This fix will also retroactively correct inflated core stat bonuses on heroes affected by this bug prior to our hotfix going live.) Equipping a quiver with a two-handed bow will no longer cause Quick Compare to incorrectly reflect a loss in damage. Square gems should now only drop in Hell difficulty, which is also where the required items to combine them drop. The Paragon experience bar for Player 2 and Player 4 now displays correctly instead of being visually clipped at the ends. Fixed a bug that caused a player's experience bar to not display in multiplayer games if a another character with a Paragon levels had entered the game first. Fixed a bug that caused the inventory to not display unidentified Legendary items. Fixed a bug that caused the inventory to display equipped items twice if you exited the gem socketing sub-screen with the Select/Back button. Fixed a bug that caused the controller to become stuck vibrating indefinitely. Made changes to address corruptions of saved game data. Please note that this patch is currently only available for PlayStation 3 users. While we don’t have an estimate as to when this patch will be available as a title update for Xbox 360, we will be sure to post an update once it’s live. Thanks!Lylirra0 Oct 2, 2013

Sep 17, 2013 Diablo III Auction House Update FAQ Q. Why is the auction house system being removed from Diablo III? The gold and real-money auction houses have provided a convenient and secure system for trading, but it's also become increasingly clear that despite the benefits they provide, they ultimately undermine Diablo’s core gameplay. A big part of Diablo is the thrill of battling demons and finding epic loot. While buying epic loot in the auction houses might be more convenient, it doesn't feel anywhere near as heroic as plowing through a pack of fearsome-looking monsters and having them drop that one awesome item that seems like it was made for your character. Q. Will this change affect both the gold and real-money auction house? Yes. We will be shutting down both the gold and the real-money auction houses. Q. When will the gold and real-money auction houses be removed from the game? The gold and real-money auction houses will be shut down on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Q. Are the gold and real-money auction houses shutting down at the same time? Yes. The gold and real-money auction houses will be shut down at the same time. Q. Are the gold and real-money auction houses being removed for all gameplay regions? Yes. The gold and real-money auction houses are being removed for all gameplay regions. Q. Why aren’t the auction houses being removed sooner? Since the gold and real-money auction houses receive a regular amount of daily activity, we wanted to inform everyone of this upcoming change as soon as we made the decision and give as much advance notice as soon as possible. Also, removing the auction houses from the game is no small endeavor, and there were many technical and gameplay-related questions we still need to answer before this change is implemented. Q. Are there any plans to add the gold and real-money auction houses back into the game in the future? No. We have no plans at this time to add either the gold or real-money auction house back into the game after they are removed. Q. How will I be able to trade with other players once the gold and real-money auction houses are shut down? Once the gold and real-money auction houses have been shut down, players will still be able to trade with one another using the in-game Trade Window. Q. On what day and at what time will the gold and real-money auction houses be shut down in all regions? The gold and real-money auction houses are currently scheduled to shut down in all gameplay regions at approximately 3:00 a.m. PT on Tuesday, March 18. Please note that this schedule may change and that the auction houses could be shut down a little earlier or later on March 18. Q. Will the shutdown process require maintenance? No, the shutdown will not require maintenance. However, the current shut down time will overlap with scheduled Tuesday maintenance for the Americas gameplay region. Q. What will happen to my current auctions when the gold and real-money auction houses are shut down? All active auctions will expire as normal following the shutdown of the gold and real-money auction houses on Tuesday, March 18. Once the shutdown is complete, items will either be delivered to the current highest bidder or returned to the seller, appearing in each player's Completed tab. Unclaimed gold will also appear in the Completed tab. Players will be able to claim gold and items and from this tab until June 24, 2014. Successful transactions involving Balance and/or PayPal will be processed normally and all usual fees will apply. Q. What happens to my unclaimed items and gold in the Completed tab after the shutdown? Players will be able to claim gold and items from the Completed tab in both the gold and real-money auction houses until June 24, 2014. Items and gold not claimed by this date will be consumed by Treasure Goblins, never to be seen again. To avoid any unintended loss of gold or items, we strongly recommend that players clear out their Completed tabs prior to March 18, 2014. Q. How will I be able to access the Completed tab after the gold and real money auction houses are shut down? The auction house window will remain available for all players until June 24, 2014; however, the ability to Bid, Buyout, and list new auctions in the gold and real-money auction houses will be disabled on March 18, 2014. To access the Completed tab after the gold and real-money auction houses have shut down, simply click on the gavel icon and select which auction house (gold or real-money) you wish to access. The Completed tab will appear in its normal location on the far right of the auction house window. Q. My Completed tab is already full! What will happen to outstanding items after the gold and real-money auction houses are shut down? Each Completed tab can display up to 50 items at a time. If a player has more than 50 items to claim from the gold or real-money auction house, those outstanding items (including unclaimed gold) will remain in the Completed tab "backlog." As items are removed from the Completed tab and additional space is made available in the UI, items in the backlog will begin to appear and can be claimed as normal. Please note that items and gold in the backlog will be removed permanently from the game after June 24, 2014. Q. What will happen to my existing Balance? Your Balance total will not be affected by the shutdown of the gold and real-money auction houses on March 18, 2014. In addition, players will still be able to use their Balance to purchase a variety of services and Blizzard games from the Shop. For more information, please visit our Balance support article. Q. Can I convert my Balance into cash after the real-money auction house is shut down? No. Funds added to Balance are not refundable (except as otherwise provided by law) and cannot be converted into cash. For more information, please visit our Balance support article Official Announcement: Sep 17, 2013

Aug 12, 2013 Rollback Policy Update for all Diablo III Regions Over the past year, we've made some changes to our account rollback policy for players in the Asia, Americas, and Europe regions. These updates were an added step in protecting the in-game economy from the noted rise of false compromised account claims by players attempting to duplicate items. To date, these policy changes have been effective in helping to reduce the number of duplicated items in the game. On August 6, we'll be further updating the policy to include a cap on gold and commodities that are restored as part of the process, adding further protections for the game economy. [What's Changing Starting Tuesday, August 6] All character equipment (including weapons and armor) restored via the Diablo III rollback service will continue to be bound to the restored account. The restored items cannot be traded with other players or posted on the auction house, but they can still be shared with other characters on the account and sold to merchant NPCs. Additionally, the below changes to gold and commodities restoration will also occur: Gems: Each gem type (Amethyst, Emerald, Ruby,Topaz) up to Perfect Square will be restored up to a total maximum count of 500 of that type (e.g. 500 Flawless Amethysts). Marquise gems will be restored in full, as they are Bind-on-Account. Higher level gems will be restored up to the following limits: Radiant Square – 250 Star – 100 Flawless Star – 50 Perfect Star – 25 Radiant Star – 10 Crafting Materials: Each type of crafting material will be restored up to a total maximum count of 500 (e.g. 500 Subtle Essence). Each type of training material will be restored up to a total of 500 (e.g. 500 Tomes of Blacksmithing). Each type of crafting plan will be restored up to a total of 1 (e.g. 1 plan for Cain’s Fate). Gold: Gold restored will be limited to 10 million. As always we are committed to continuing to monitor the overall health and economy of the game and make additional tweaks if necessary. [Protecting Your Account] Considering that the rollback service is intended to help players whose accounts have been compromised, we obviously wish that no one ever needed to use it. The best way to help protect yourself from account compromise is to secure your PC and account, for example by adding a Authenticator. While no security measure is completely foolproof, we've often found that many accounts are compromised a second time simply because players do not take any action to protect themselves after being compromised the first time. To learn more about the Authenticator and some best practices for securing your PC against viruses and malware, check out the links below. Aug 2, 2013 Upcoming Hotfix: Gold Stack Size Increased on RMAH Update 7/29/2013 @ 12:00 p.m. PDT: This hotfix has been implemented. --------------------------------------------------------------------- During tomorrow's scheduled maintenance, we will be applying a hotfix in both the Americas and European gameplay regions, increasing the maximum stack size for gold listings on the real-money auction house from 10 million to 50 million *. (As with previous changes, the minimum price per stack will remain at $0.25.) For those who may be curious, this change is being made to ensure that the price of gold in the real-money house remains competitive compared to third-party sites. Since one of the goals of the real-money auction house is to provide players a safe place in which to both buy and sell commodities, we want to make sure it continues to be useful and that don’t players to feel forced to use third-party sites simply because it's the cheaper option. Also, for those who may be concerned, please rest assured that the bug which caused the gold dupe back in May (when we raised the stack size cap to 10 million) has indeed been resolved and should not resurface as a result of this hotfix. Even so, we will be conducting extensive testing in the live game environment during maintenance before bringing the servers up to verify that no new issues were caused as the result of raising the cap to 50 million. Once this hotfix is live, we’ll post an update to this thread as well as on the front page of the community site so you won’t miss out. Thanks! * Please note that this change will only apply to gold auctions created after the hotfix has gone live; any auction posted beforehand, as well as those still active when the hotfix is implemented, will continue to be valued at 10,000,000 gold per stack.Lylirra849 Aug 2, 2013

May 21, 2013 Issues Switching Characters and Item Label Display Hey everyone, We're currently looking into two issues that are affecting players who've patched up to 1.0.8: Item Label Display is reverting back to "Push to Show" after changing it to another setting. Update: This issue has now been fixed with patch 1.0.8a. When trying to switch to a different character, the character model (including its class, gender, name, and banner) in the menu does not update, but equipped gear will. This appears to simply be a visual bug, as joining a game session will use the correct character. We'll be sure to provide an update in this thread once we've more information. In the meantime, thank you for your reports! To help keep the conversation streamlined (this will help us talk to you better, and vice-versa), we're going to be locking and redirecting posts to this location.Lylirra70 May 21, 2013
May 20, 2013 Auction Houses Up and Running Hey everyone, I'm John Hight, the production director for Diablo III. As most of you know, after the release of patch 1.0.8 a small number of players exploited a bug to duplicate gold. The bug has since been fixed, and the Auction Houses and gold trading are back online. While the issue is resolved, we know a lot of players have questions about what happened and what we're doing about it, so I wanted to take some time to discuss the details with you here. So, What Happened? Shortly after we released patch 1.0.8 in the Americas on Tuesday, players discovered a bug that allowed gold to be duplicated via the real-money Auction House. The bug was the result of a coding error that was exposed when we increased the gold stack size from 1 million to 10 million. This resulted in an overflow on cancelled auctions that yielded a greater amount of gold in return. Only a relatively small number of players had the billions of gold necessary to exploit the bug, and only 415 of those players chose to use this exploit for personal gain. To all of you who reported this to us, thank you! As soon as we confirmed what was happening, we took the Auction Houses in the Americas offline and suspended gold trading in order to isolate the problem. From there, we were able to troubleshoot, develop a fix, test it, and deploy it to all regions before the day ended—also ensuring that patch 1.0.8 rolled out in other regions (without the bug) as scheduled. The Auction Houses remained offline and gold trades remained suspended until we completed a full audit of all transactions that occurred during this period. Once that was completed, we brought everything back online. While this was happening, we locked accounts that appeared to be exploiting the bug as well as collaborators that held gold or items for the exploiters. Once we confirmed that an account was involved in this exploit, we either banned or rolled back the account depending on their activity. What Does That Mean for Me? Soon after the exploit was discovered, we contemplated doing a complete rollback, as was suggested by a number of players here in the forums. The vast majority of players did not participate in the exploit and we didn't like the idea of punishing them for the bad behavior of a few people. A rollback would mean bringing the servers down for a lengthy period and a loss of all progression since 1.0.8 was released. Many players made significant accomplishments in the game that required time and dedication, and we felt it was worth the work involved to try to preserve these efforts and go after the exploiters instead. With this in mind, we elected not to roll back the servers in The Americas and are instead working to remove duplicated gold from the economy through targeted audits and account actions (as indicated above) without taking away progress that our players rightfully earned. As of this this post, we have already recaptured more than 85% of the excess gold from the accounts involved, and over the days ahead we will continue to pore over our audit data to reclaim as much duplicate currency as possible. We've also done a full audit of our code to help make sure that something like this doesn't happen again. So, What's Next? Many people bought and sold items and gold on the Auction House on Tuesday. We're making sure that all legitimate transactions go through. This means that if your account was not involved in the exploit, you will get to keep your items and gold, as well as any money you received from sales on the real-money Auction House. We'll also be donating all proceeds from auctions conducted by the suspended or banned players—including all of THEIR sale proceeds that we intercepted as well as our transaction fee—to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Thank You! On behalf of the development team, I just want to say thanks again to those of you who took the time to notify us about this situation, as well as apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you personally. We highly value fair play, and we’re going to continue to monitor the game and take steps necessary to prevent exploits like this from happening in the future.John Hight664 May 20, 2013
May 11, 2013 Auction Houses Temporarily Offline -- UPDATED UPDATES: > 5/10/13 9:55 p.m. PDT: Since maintenance is now resolve and the Auction House are back online, I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. To read more about what happened and how we approached this issue, click here. If you experience any issues using the Auction House, please create a new thread (and be sure to detail exactly what the problem is, including screenshots if possible). Thank you so much for your patience! > 5/10/13 8:10 p.m. PDT: Maintenance has concluded, and both the gold and real-money Auction Houses are now live. Gold trades have also been reactivated. Please note that we have temporarily reverted the stack size for gold on the real-money Auction House from 10,000,000 to 1,000,000. (At the moment, there's an active bug preventing gold stack sizes from displaying correctly in the Auction House at values higher than 1,000,000, so we've temporarily reversed this change the until we can fix the display issue.) Important: To help reduce load and improve the overall stability of the auction house system, the game may temporarily limit traffic to the auction house, especially following maintenance. This is done automatically, and players may occasionally see a grayed-out auction house button (or receive an "Error 31075") as a result. If the auction house button is grayed-out, please wait a few minutes and then try again. > 5/10/13 7:15 p.m. PDT: Lylirra here, checking back in (apologies for the delay!). Our teams are still performing their audit, and the auction houses remain under maintenance. Some players may notice that PayPal payments are now processing; this is intended, as we've completed our audit of real-money transactions. No additional news to share at this time (or ETAs, for those of you wondering). We'll be checking back in with you every so often to keep you as updated as possible. Next scheduled update: 11:00 p.m. PDT. > 5/10/13 3:25 p.m. PDT: We've made substantial progress with our audit, but the process is not yet complete. We don't yet have a specific ETA as to when the Auction Houses will be available, but we wanted to at least touch base with the community and let you all know that we're still working hard to address the effects of the gold dupe. We'll be providing another status update by 7:00 p.m. PDT, as well, so be sure to stay tuned to this thread. Thank you! > 5/9/13 12:10 p.m. PDT: As we mentioned earlier, we're currently auditing transactions that were performed on the both the gold and real-money Auction House following the discovery of a gold exploit after patch 1.0.8 released. For those just tuning in, we decided to perform a complete audit and focus on the few players that exploited this bug rather than performing a full rollback and taking everyone offline for a day (or more) – losing all the progress they made. This audit is a time-intensive process, and to make sure that we can do a thorough job, we’re going to keep the Auction Houses in maintenance until that work is complete. Unfortunately, our previous estimate was incorrect, and for that I personally apologize. We don’t have a new ETA, but we anticipate that the service will be unavailable for at least another 24 hours. We’ll continue to provide updates in this thread regarding the status of our Auction House maintenance as they become available. > 5/9/13 9:00 a.m. PDT: We are still in the process of reviewing all of Tuesday's transactions and need to keep the Auction House offline for a while longer to complete our audit. At this time, we will not be able to bring the Auction House online by 10:00 a.m. PDT. We're re-evaluating required downtime, and will provide another update by 12:00 p.m. PDT. > 5/8/13 4:15 p.m. PDT: In order to allow auctions posted yesterday to expire naturally, we've decided to keep the gold and real-money Auction House in maintenance mode until tomorrow morning. We're currently targeting 10:00 a.m. PDT, but will provide an update for everyone at 9:00 a.m. PDT. At that point, we'll be able to give a much more solid ETA as to when the service will be up and running (or, conversely, let you know if additional downtime is needed). Gold trades are still disabled for the time being. Once we have an ETA for those being re-activated, we'll provide another update in this thread, as well. > 5/8/13 11:30 a.m. PDT: We're still in the process of auditing Auction House and gold trade transactions. We realize this is an inconvenience for many of our players, and we sincerely apologize for the interruption of the service. We hope to have everything back up as soon as possible. We don't currently have an ETA for when the Auction House will be brought out of maintenance or gold trades will be reactivated, but we'll continue to provide updates in this thread as they become available. > 5/8/13 12:30 a.m. PDT: We've confirmed that we've fixed the bug which allowed players to duplicate gold; however, we will be keeping the gold and real-money Auction Houses offline in the Americas until further notice (gold trades will also remain suspended). We'll be using this downtime to perform audits on all transactions conducted through the Auction House as well as trades in which gold was exchanged since 1.0.8 launched. We anticipate this process will take multiple hours to complete and will provide another update by 12:00 p.m. PDT. > 5/8/13 12:00 a.m. PDT: At this time (and after careful consideration), we've decided to not move forward with rolling back the servers. We feel that this is the best course of action given the nature of the dupe, how relatively few players used it, and the fact that its effects were fairly limited within the region. We've been able to successfully identify players who duplicated gold by using this specific bug, and are focusing on these accounts to make corrections. While this is a time-consuming and very detailed process, we believe it's the most appropriate choice given the circumstances. We know that some of you may disagree, but we feel that performing a full roll back would impact the community in an even greater way, as it would require significant downtime as well as revert the progress legitimate players have made since patch 1.0.8 was released this morning. > 5/7/13 10:40 p.m. PDT: Maintenance has concluded, and the fix has been implemented. Once we’ve been able to test this fix and verify that it works correctly, we'll then mark the gold and real-money auction house live. > 5/7/13 10:35 p.m. PDT: To assist our teams with their review process, we have disabled all gold trades in the Americas region until further notice. Players can still trade items, but trades that involve any sum of gold currency cannot be completed. > 5/7/13 10:15 p.m. PDT: We believe we’ve found a fix for the gold duplication bug and will be deploying it shortly to all regions. In order to implement this fix, we'll be bringing Diablo III into maintenance. We anticipate this maintenance will last for approximately 1 hour, lasting until approximately 11:30 p.m. PDT. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey everyone, As you may have already seen in the Breaking News window (or discovered while trying to load up the Auction House once logged in), we've brought both the gold and real-money Auction Houses offline for maintenance. After the release of Patch 1.0.8 this morning, we found that some players were exploiting a bug that enabled them to duplicate gold through the Auction House. We're working on fixing the bug right now, and bringing the Auction Houses offline helps us troubleshoot in a more stable environment while preventing further exploiting. Q. When will the Auction House be available? We don’t have an ETA just yet. Our priority at the moment is (of course) to fix the bug and make sure it can’t happen again. We know this is an inconvenience for some of our players, so we’ll be providing updates in this thread as soon as we have any details to share. Q. Will there be a rollback? Our priority is to fix any issues with the game client first—that's what we're working on right now. After we've addressed the situation, we'll need to determine whether or not a rollback is appropriate. We know this is an important issue for all of our players, so we’ll be sure keep you informed of what's happening and will provide any updates in this thread, as well. Q. Will players be banned for using this dupe? We're currently in the process of reviewing the accounts involved and taking appropriate actions, including temporary locks, suspensions, and/or bans. Our exploitation policy for Diablo III can be found here, which should give you an overview of the kinds of activities that are and aren’t cool within the game. Q. How will this affect other regions and patching up to 1.0.8? This will not affect the patch maintenance schedules for Europe or Asia. As we believe we've been able to fix the dupe, patch 1.0.8 will still be released in both of these regions as normal. However, please note that we have temporarily reverted the stack size for gold on the real-money Auction House from 10,000,000 to 1,000,000. There's an active bug that's preventing gold stack sizes from displaying correctly, so we've reversed that one change until we can fix it. (This will also be the case for the Americas once the Auction House is marked live.) Thank you for all of your reports, and for your patience. In the meantime, to help streamline communication, we're going to be locking and redirecting posts to this location.Lylirra4480 May 11, 2013

Apr 29, 2013 Upcoming Hotfix – EXP from Pets in The Scorched Chapel Update: This issue was addressed via hotfix on Saturday, April 26. ----------------------------------------- Hey all, We've seen a lot of posts about this subject, so I just wanted to confirm that a hotfix is currently in the works to address a bug that's causing player-summoned pets to grant experience when killed in the Scorched Chapel. We hope to implement the fix soon, and will provide an update to everyone once it’s live. (For clarity, hotfixes are updates we make on our end that don’t require you to download a new patch. Some hotfixes will go live the moment they are implemented, while others may require server restarts to take effect.) In the meantime, since it’s not intended for pets summoned by players or items to grant experience, we encourage you to game responsibly and avoid exploiting this bug to gain an advantage. Not only can this potentially lead to your account being penalized (depending on the situation), but more importantly it's not really fair to your fellow players. When exploited, bugs like this can negatively impact the enjoyment of others – which is why we're working as quickly as we can to fix it, and why we'd appreciate your help in keeping the effects of the bug as minimal as possible until it’s resolved. This issue was originally reported on our forums during 1.0.7 PTR testing; however, we unfortunately missed the reports before patch 1.0.7 was released, and as a result the bug went live. That was our error, so we'd like to give a big thank you not only to the players who reported the bug initially by posting, but also to those who helped bring it to our attention by contacting our Hacks team. On that note, if you're not sure how to report a bug or exploit, here's a quick recap: If you'd like to report a bug, the best thing to do is post in the Bug Report forum. (Or in the PTR Bug Report forum, if you encounter a bug on the PTR.) If you'd like to report an exploit, you can email or use our Hacks Report web form. While not every report will receive a response, we sincerely appreciate everyone’s help in keeping us informed of possible issues as they arise.
