Sep 10, 2014 Upcoming Hotfixes: Disabled Event Bounties Update: Friday, September 5 This hotfix is now live. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Greetings, nephalem! One of our ongoing goals for Diablo III (and Seasons in particular) is to promote diversity in play styles and encourage a variety of experience whenever possible. In line with this goal, and as a direct result of your feedback from Season 1, we're in the process of implementing a series of hotfixes that will temporarily disable the following events as eligible bounties: The Matriarch's Bones The Jar of Souls The Miser's Will A Miner's Gold This change will apply to both Seasonal and non-Seasonal games. Additionally, please note that these hotfixes will only remove the above events from the active bounty pool, not the game itself. The events can still spawn in-game and will provide rewards as normal. We don't have an ETA at this time for when these events will be re-added to the bounty pool, but are working to have them available for Season 2. Looking Forward: In Season 1, many players were able to quickly level their heroes and earn a coveted rank on the "Race to the Top" leaderboard exclusively by running the bounties in question. While we won't be removing any Conquest credit or ranking from players who chose to use this particular technique, we will be making changes to these bounties for future Seasons. The desire here is to help promote an environment where the most efficient way to play is also the most varied (and ideally the most fun too). With this, one of our goals for Seasonal Conquests is to encourage players to try out different tactics and explore different play styles, so we will be evaluating all Season 1 Conquests with that goal in mind and making changes for Season 2 as needed. Sep 3, 2014 Achievement Display Bug Just a heads-up: We’ve received some reports from players who are currently unable to view their achievements in-game after updating to patch 2.1.0. If you experience this issue, please exit Diablo III completely and re-launch the game from the desktop app. The issue should disappear. If this issue persists after re-launching the game client, or if you experience any other game-related issues while playing Diablo III, please report them in the Bug Report forum so that we can investigate further. If you’re experiencing technical issues with the patching process, connecting to after installing the patch, or errors while playing a newly-patched game, please visit our support site or post in the Technical Support forum for assistance. Aug 26, 2014 Login and Connection Issues - August 25 (UPDATED) [UPDATE] 12:50 a.m. PDT and Diablo III appear to be stable at this time. While we will continue to keep an eye on these services, please don't hesitate to report any interruptions with login or connectivity you experience while playing in this thread. Please notethat we will be conducting scheduled maintenance for the Americas starting today at 3:00 a.m. PDT, with an anticipated 10 hours of downtime (concluding roughly around 1:00 p.m. PDT). During this time, the game service will not be available. Aug 25, 2014 Patch 2.1.0 Philosophy Hey all! With the release of patch 2.1.0 drawing near, we wanted to take some time to share the balance goals of this patch. There were two major goals: Reduce the number of extreme outliers in class balance in order to set us up for ongoing improvements Provide ourselves a new metric (Greater Rifts) by which we can more easily identify future outliers The changes we've made so far to our six classes exemplify these goals. For example, the retuning of Exploding Palm, The Furnace, and Rimeheart weren't specifically made to nerf Monks—it was to remove a clear, standalone issue from interfering with other changes aimed at giving Monks the tools they need to survive and compete in Greater Rifts. The implementation of Greater Rifts allows us to rate classes much more quantitatively. Ideally, each class should be within a couple Greater Rift tiers of one another. Our latest internal testing, where we often copy actual characters from players in the PTR and run them through Greater Rifts, shows that we're pretty close. Inevitably, there will always be room for improvement, and now we have clear, tangible data for us to check in on what's going on and re-evaluate. Here's what we're not aiming to do (at least, not yet): Expand class diversity This is a design goal for us, and we've touched a little on it (see below). However, we want each class performing similarly and with fewer outliers before we introduce new play styles. Buff every class through the roof While power creep is somewhat inevitable with new content (Legendary Gems, I'm looking at you!), you need to sand down the rough edges before you primer them! We want to reign some things in, buff some things up, and ensure each class has comparable (if different) tools available to them. The overarching philosophies for this patch are as follows and apply to most, if not all, the classes: Provide elemental diversity among a class' available skills This is an ongoing process, and while we've partially addressed elemental diversity for most classes, there's still more to go (such as addressing Poison and Cold for Demon Hunters and Crusaders respectively). Buff significantly underused skills by increasing numbers or redesigning runes with more interesting or useful mechanics. Channeling spells for Wizards or Furious Charge for Barbarians are great examples of these changes. There's still some skills out there that need work, we just may not get to them for 2.1. Buff Healing This can apply to every class. We want players to use healing on their gear, especially in higher level Greater Rifts, and it should feel much more reliable and on-demand (depending on which type of healing you prefer to stack). Ensure that the elemental types and skill mechanics fulfill the fantasy of the class We talk about class fantasy a lot, and making sure your class feels the way it should. The addition of the Crusader set, Roland’s Legacy, is a prime example of this. Crusaders should feel like they have options in melee, and we feel this set helps satisfy that need. Phases of the PTR can be a little trying, because what you end up seeing from the outside looking in is what our iterative process looks like — except with none of the context. It's like trying to tell what the entire picture is from a few unmatched puzzle pieces, because some bits of our larger, overarching goals just can’t (for one reason or another) be crammed into a build before it goes out. What can be frustrating is that our iterative process on a subject can be much longer term than the cycle of a single patch. Class balance is a perfect example of this, particularly because it’s an aspect of the game that’s never really "done." It's fairly inevitable that there will always be work to do on this front, especially as we add new content in the future (and even more so where Legendaries and Sets are concerned). Class balance is the sum of several wholes, including Skills, Set Items, and Legendaries that have been added or adjusted. That's a ton of stuff to look at, and sometimes there's simply not enough time to fit everything into a single patch (even if it's in our plans). This is an ongoing process for us. There's a lot of new toys and quality of life changes in this patch, but that doesn't mean it launching closes the doors on additional tweaks or changes for the future. If a class falls behind, we might put out a 2.1.1 or 2.1.2 to address the clear outliers. Some of our plans have immediate implementation goals while others stretch on for 6 months or even a year. There's a lot of spinning wheels and fiddly bits in this Infernal Machine, and a quick glance won't ever be sufficient to explain it all. Aug 25, 2014 Patch 2.1.0 Size and Estimated Download Time Hey everyone! Patch 2.1.0 is on its way, and we wanted to give you all a quick heads up about the size of this patch and the anticipated time required to fully apply it. While the patch itself is not very large (300 MB), it will be making several changes to the game files stored on your computer. As a result, the patch installation phase may take up to 30 minutes to finish once the patch has been downloaded. Please note that, during this process, your Desktop Application will note that it's "installing 12.4GB." This message is simply referencing the unpacking of the new patch file and the re-configuration of existing Diablo III files on your computer. Aug 25, 2014 [Heads Up] PTR Shutting Down In preparation for the launch of Patch 2.1.0, the PTR servers will be brought offline this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. PT. At that time, players will no longer be able to log in to the PTR client, all PTR accounts (including character information) will be reset, and our PTR forums will be marked as read-only. We'd like to thank everyone who participated in the Patch 2.1.0 PTR. Aug 20, 2014 Ultimate Evil Edition –Language Issue (PS EU) Greetings adventurers, We’ve received several reports from PlayStation users in Europe who digitally purchased Ultimate Evil Edition and had the client downloaded in a language different from that of their console’s default language. If you’re experiencing this, we encourage you to proceed with the following steps to correct the issue. Step 1: Remove the existing version of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition from your console system. The executable for the game is separate from the saved data, and if you’ve played Ultimate Evil Edition at all, you will only want to remove the game data, not the save file. To do this: On PlayStation 3 Navigate to the GAME column in the PlayStation 3 menu > Game Data Utility > select Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition > select OPTIONS > DELETE On PlayStation 4 Navigate to SETTINGS in PlayStation 4 menu > System Storage Management > Applications > select Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition > select OPTIONS > DELETE Step 2: Once the Ultimate Evil Edition game data has been deleted from your system, navigate back into the PlayStation Store and look for it there (you will not have to repurchase the game, the record of your previous purchase is not lost). Select the game, and you will see that there are two different downloads available. The larger of the two is the English/French/Italian/German/Spanish (EFIGS) version, the smaller of the two is the Polish/Russian (POL/RUS) pack. PS3 EFIGS 21.8 GB POL/RUS 11.5 GB PS4 EFIGS 37.8 GB POL/RUS 20.5 GB Step 3: Choose the appropriate download and the game will then reinstall. If you haven't deleted the saved game data (which is approximately 13 MB), then the new language version will pick right up where you left off. Aug 12, 2014 Issues with Updating PS3 Greetings adventurers, [UPDATE] (8/11) - Patch 1.0.4 is now available in all regions. ---------------------- [UPDATE] 1:20 PM PDT (8/7) – Patch 1.0.4 is now available for PlayStation in the Americas region, which addresses the console freezes that have been affecting some players. SCEE (Europe) and SCEJ (Japan) will also be patched; however, the patches for those regions will be rolled out at a later time. Please note that Xbox will not be receiving this patch, as the issue only affects PlayStation users. If you continue to experience any issues after downloading and installing the corrective patch, please update the thread. Jul 19, 2014 Seasons Now Available on PTR Our first Seasons test begins today! To create a Seasonal hero, simply check the "Seasonal Hero" box located below the class selection list. For more information about Seasons, click here. Multiple Season Testing: Please note that over the course of the patch 2.1.0 PTR, we may periodically "end" a Season to test the rollover process and ensure that Seasonal character data migrates correctly. To get the most out of this PTR, we will likely start and end a Season several times before our public test phase concludes. Jul 18, 2014 Message from Rob Pardo Every ending is a beginning and today marks a new beginning for me. After 17 years at Blizzard, with long and careful contemplation, I have made a difficult and bittersweet but ultimately exciting decision to pursue the next chapter in my life and career. Before I even joined Blizzard, I was already a huge fan of the company and its games. In particular, I was extremely passionate about the emerging genre of real-time strategy games. It was a dream come true when I was given the opportunity to work on StarCraft, which at the time was being created by a very small team by today’s standards. It was tremendously fulfilling to get to know everyone on the team personally and to contribute our energies toward a shared goal in such a creative and engaging environment. Blizzard Entertainment has been simply the best place in the world to be a game designer. The best aspect of designing games at Blizzard is that the entire company is passionate about the gameplay within each and every product. From the executive team to customer service to our global offices, every single person is a player and contributes to making the best possible games. It's for very good reason that the first credit on every Blizzard game is "Game Design by Blizzard Entertainment." I’m really proud of the contributions I was able to make to Blizzard’s accomplishments. From building lasting games, to supporting the growth of eSports, to extending the Warcraft world into a feature film, and of course to being able to celebrate our shared passions with the Blizzard community online and at BlizzCon. The Blizzard community is ultimately the reason why we come to work every day and pour our souls into every world and experience we create. Blizzard’s players are the most passionate in the world and your commitment and dedication are truly awesome to behold. Creating entertainment for you has been an incredible opportunity, and I know that you will continue to grow and become even stronger as a community over the years to come. It has been so meaningful on a personal level to help create joy for all of you. I'm looking forward to new challenges in my career, but I will always cherish the time I spent with you all and the amazing and collaborative teams at Blizzard. It was both satisfying and humbling, and it made me a better developer and a better person. I look forward to playing Blizzard games as a player for many years to come. Most important, now I have plenty of time to learn how to build a competitive Hearthstone deck. As to what I will be doing next, I don’t have an answer for you yet . . . but I will "when it's ready." My priorities are to enjoy the summer with my family, play plenty of games, and think about what’s next. The game industry is such an exciting place right now with PC gaming thriving, the new consoles, mobile games, and virtual reality becoming an actual reality. It’s like having an empty quest log and going into a new zone for the first time. Jun 10, 2014 Anniversary Buff Update Hello folks, I come bearing exciting news. Due to the overwhelming popularity of our Anniversary buff we have decided to keep the increased Legendary drop rate once the two-year anniversary celebration ends. Once the buff is disabled tomorrow morning, you will find that the new base line drop rates for Legendary items will be the same as those you have all enjoyed for the last week. Happy hunting and link the loot! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Additional details: This buff was implemented in all regions on 5/21. For more info, click here. The double Rift Keystone Fragment buff will end at 5:00 a.m. PT on 5/22. We may bring this fun, but temporary buff back again at some point in the future! Unique Monsters now use the same loot table as Champions. The bonus to Legendary drop rate for Nephalem Rifts has been increased from 25% to 100% The number of chests that spawn across Sanctuary has been reduced. The Unique Ebenezer Samuel no longer spawns 100% of the time on higher difficulties. The following change from the Patch Notes has been reverted: In Campaign Mode, Manglemaw now only drops loot and gives XP before the player progresses to the Chancellor's Tomb quest The profile menu now reports accurate play time for all classes, including the Crusader. Crafting plans purchased from a vendor can no longer be sold back. Items Shard of Hate Fixed an issue where the internal cooldown for this item's Legendary affix was being reset when dual-wielding. Fixed an issue where this item's Legendary affix did not account for a skill's proc scalar, causing it to proc on every skill use. Follower relics should now roll the appropriate stats for that follower. The following items had game-breaking bugs associated with them that are now resolved. They can once again drop in-game: Moonlight Ward Hexing Pants of Mr. Yan The Slanderer Little Rogue The Set bonuses from The Shadow's Mantle Class Set should now properly proc for only Demon Hunters. Crusader Consecration - Shattered Ground Crusaders should no longer damage themselves with Area Damage when using this skill. Blessed Shield - Shattering Throw Should no longer cause players to deal Area Damage to themselves and allies. Iron Maiden This skill no longer erroneously scales with monster difficulty and provides 6102 Thorns @ level 70. Please note the tooltip will not reflect this value. Apr 20, 2014 Upcoming Hotfix - Shard of Hate (4/15) As with other recent hotfixes, we’ve got one coming up shortly that we wanted to give the community a heads up about, this time regarding the legendary Shard of Hate. We’ve been closely observing our internal reports as well as player feedback on the Shard of Hate and the general consensus is that this item feels wildly out of line compared to other items. After digging in behind the scenes, we discovered a couple of bugs with this item that we believe is the ultimate culprit. First, the internal cooldown of this item’s power was being reset each time a dual-wielding character attacked with a weapon in their other hand. This meant the effect was occurring twice as often for dual-wielding characters, and with particular skills such as Whirlwind or Tempest Rush that also carry attack speed multipliers, this effect was even more frequent. Secondly, the proc rate of the item was ignoring the proc scalar of the skill it was used with, which in simple terms caused Shard of Hate’s affix to apply every time a skill was used. Combined with the above issue, this resulted in this Legendary vastly over performing, and even more so with particular builds. The hotfixes we’re applying correct both of these unintended behaviors and have been added to our 2.0.4 Hotfixes thread. Please note that you may need to restart your game in order for them to go into effect. ------------------------------------------------------------ Hey everyone, As a quick heads up, we have two buffs to Legendary item drop rates coming down the pipeline. First change: We're increasing the drop rate for Legendary items (this includes Set items) in Torment 1-6. Second change: We're significantly increasing the chance for an item purchased from Kadala to be a Legendary. Both of these hotfixes are somewhat proactive, but are aimed to help improve the reward curve for players as they start to reach higher Torment difficulties. Mar 29, 2014 Recent Hotfix to Monk Passive Unity Hey everyone, We’ve recently implemented a major hotfix for the Monk passive, Unity. With this hotfix, we’ve capped the number bonus damage stacks provided by the passive to 4. This means the maximum amount of bonus damage that can be achieved with Unity by the casting player is 20%, which is still fairly powerful compared to most class passive abilities. Unity’s design intent is to make players feel powerful when fighting side by side with their allies. The fantasy behind the passive is based on the idea that travelling with your Mystic Ally, follower, and other players can make you stronger and more adept at fighting your foes—which is great! At the moment, however, depending on your group make-up, the returns from Unity are vastly over-performing compared to other passives as well as other classes. We know nerfs never feel particularly great, but with a singular passive standing so far above other abilities, we hope you understand why this was the appropriate action to take. If you still have missing gold or items on one of characters that you believe as related to this issue, please contact Customer Support so we can continue to investigate on a case-by-case basis. Thank you so much for your patience and your reports! ------------------------------------------------------------ Update 3/20 @ 8:13 p.m. PT: Thanks to your reports and D3debug.tx files, we've been able to identify a very isolated number of players who did experience gold loss as a result of the missing gold/equipment/stash tab bug. We've developed a fix for this issue and are working to test and implement it by the end of the weekend. This fix should restore the full amount of gold lost as a result of the bug without any work required by the affected players. (Note that you need not have reported the issue in this thread to be eligible for the fix.) We sincerely apologize for any trouble this bug caused. In addition, there shouldn't be any permanent loss of hero data (including items, stash tabs, and gold) from our database. Players affected by this issue, however, may need to log out of the game and then back into the game in order for everything to reappear. Note that several relogs may be required for all items, stash tabs, and gold to display correctly. While this issue is considered resolved on our end, we are continuing to monitor incoming reports--particularly those on this forum! If you are still experiencing problems related to this issue, please let us know in this thread. The Message will be titled, "RoS Preorder: Wings of Valor". Please keep in mind that you should be able to acquire the Wings as soon as the upgrade has been processed - with that said digital transactions can take upwards of 72 hours to complete. It doesn't usually always take that long for a transaction to process, but it can. If you upgraded over 72 hours ago, and are still not seeing the notification for the Wings in the mail/message icon - please try one or all of the following: Create a new character Close the game down, and restart the Desktop App Reset the Password If these steps do not do the trick for you, please reach out to us via our Support Portal. As a result, depending on when you digitally prepurchased the game, you may or may not have already received your wings. Here's how everything breaks down: Players who prepurchased Reaper of Souls before the script completed this afternoon will experience a delay in the delivery of their Wings of Valor. We’ve already developed a fix for this delay; however, we anticipate that the secondary script we’ll need to run to get the wings delivered to everyone will not complete until tomorrow morning (Pacific Time) at the earliest. We don’ t yet have an exact ETA to share for when the wings for this groups of players will be delivered, but we’ll be sure to provide an update in this thread as soon as we do. Players who digitally prepurchased Reaper of Souls after the script completed should experience no delay in the delivery of their Wings of Valor and can immediately redeem the item in-game. Similarly, any player who prepurchases Reaper of Souls going forward or claims a retail game key on or before March 31, 2014 will also be able to redeem the wings right away. Mar 24, 2014 Upcoming Hotfixes - 3/21/14 Some of you may have noticed I recently updated the Patch 2.0.3 Hotfixes to include a couple new upcoming changes. These hotfixes should be live later this afternoon, and we wanted to offer some clarification regarding these changes in advance (as well as to keep the Hotfix list clean of lengthy explanations). ... We've been listening to player feedback on difficulty rewards, and one of the most frequent comments we receive is that Torment difficulty isn't rewarding enough. As a result, we've reached the decision to make class-specific sets, specifically Natalya’s, Immortal Kings, Tal Rasha's, Inna's, and Zunimassa's, drop only in Torment I or above from this point forward. The class sets weren't designed as a progression, but rather as a lateral choice between different play styles. It makes sense for all of them to be obtained at the same difficulty level, alongside the other sets that will be available at 70 in Torment I+. This should also make these very strong items a little bit more rare, and when you reach level 70 and you see someone wearing a full set, you’ll know the level of play they needed to reach in order to acquire those items. The reward level of each difficulty setting and how they feel is very important to us, and it’s something we’ll continue to observe and tweak as we enter the expansion. ... It took us some time to evaluate whether or not we wanted to alter some of the current most popular runs. Our baseline for comparison for these alternative runs is to see how they stack up versus Adventure Mode and Bounty runs, and these different types of play should be on par (or at least fairly close). After extensive testing, we were finding this wasn't the case and came to the decision to make these changes. It’s a decision we wrestled with for a while, but ultimately, we want to avoid situations where the most efficient game play isn't necessarily the most engaging and our investigations revealed this to be that kind of situation. We want a larger variety, rather than only one or two particular routes, to be the most rewarding way to play. On a related note, we know a lot of you are still preparing for the launch of Reaper of Souls, so we’re also upping the ante on the Community bonus experience event. Starting right now and for this weekend only, the bonus experience provided will be upped from 50% to 100%. Mar 19, 2014 Assistance w/HC Death Due to Missing Gear Greetings Adventurers, We’re currently investigating an issue that’s affecting some characters, causing their items, armor, and weapons to go missing upon login. Although this issue is in most situations temporary and can be corrected with repeated login attempts, there are reports that some Hardcore heroes were lost as a result of this. For accounts which were specifically impacted by this issue, our Support team is investigating the possibility of providing a special one-time exception to allow for a rollback of the account, and subsequent restoration of the fallen heroes. To contact our support with the request for this specific rollback exception, we encourage you to create a ticket through the following support portal with ‘MISSING GEAR DEATH’ in the body of the ticket: Please know that the decision to allow such an exception is not an easy one to make, and that this is not a guarantee that we will offer the rollback to all accounts that petition us with this request. Only accounts which we can verify were affected by this missing gear issue leading to the death of a Hardcore character will be considered for these rollbacks. With that said, we do want you to know that we are continuing to address this issue, and ask for all players to be aware that the issue is currently ongoing. Dec 11, 2013 Requests for Beta Keys - Please Read! The Reaper of Souls Closed Beta is upon us! While this is an exciting time, please note that we will be locking or removing any threads related to beta key requests. Topics eligible for moderation include (but are not limited to): I want a beta key. [Player A] should get a key! I've played for [X] hours. Why didn't I get a key? [Player B] is awesome! Why didn't [he/she] get a key? [Player C] sucks! Why did [he/she] get a key? I want to buy a beta key. I want to sell a beta key! If you are interested in participating in the Reaper of Souls Closed Beta, make sure you've opted-in for beta testing! To opt into the beta, simply visit your Beta Profile Settings page in Account Management, check the "Diablo" box under "Beta Tests I'm Interested In," and then click "Update Preferences." In order to be eligible for an opt-in invite to the Reaper of Souls Closed Beta, you must have an active Diablo III license attached to your account that's in good standing (i.e. not suspended or banned). In addition, you may need to download and run the System Check tool before you can update your Beta Profile preferences. For more information, please read our Closed Beta FAQ. Please note that opting in to the Reaper of Souls Closed Beta will not guarantee you access (especially since invites to our Closed Beta will be extremely limited), but it will at least give you a chance at joining our beta test. Oct 2, 2013 Diablo III Console Patch 1.0.2 (PS3 Only) Diablo III Console Patch 1.0.2 is now live for PlayStation 3. Check out the full patch notes below to learn all about the latest changes and fixes. For a list of known issues, please visit our Console Bug Report forum. Diablo III Console Patch 1.0.2 Crash Fixes Fixed a crash that could occur when quitting the game during a cutscene. Fixed a crash that could occur when interacting with the stash while another player attempts to join your game. Fixed a crash that could occur after connection failures caused by NAT/Firewall settings. Fixed multiple crashes that could occur as a result of memory corruption. Fixed crash when casting Hex with the Painful Transformation rune on a Fetish Shaman in Acts III and IV. Removed unnecessary "Clear Skill" option that could appear on the Passive Skill screen and would crash the game when selected. Gameplay Fixes Enabling Elective Mode no longer causes "New Slot" notification stars to appear for the original slot as opposed to the slot the skill is assigned to. Hardcore characters in the process of taking fatal damage while exiting the Scorched Chapel will no longer be permanently killed. Followers can no longer permanently lose all items after migrating from one game host to another. The following four item sets will no longer repeatedly and permanently add core stat bonuses each time the player logs out of the game: Blackthorne's Armor, Endless Path, Zunimassa's Whispers, and Guardian's Contingency. (This fix will also retroactively correct inflated core stat bonuses on heroes affected by this bug prior to our hotfix going live.) Equipping a quiver with a two-handed bow will no longer cause Quick Compare to incorrectly reflect a loss in damage. Square gems should now only drop in Hell difficulty, which is also where the required items to combine them drop. The Paragon experience bar for Player 2 and Player 4 now displays correctly instead of being visually clipped at the ends. Fixed a bug that caused a player's experience bar to not display in multiplayer games if a another character with a Paragon levels had entered the game first. Fixed a bug that caused the inventory to not display unidentified Legendary items. Fixed a bug that caused the inventory to display equipped items twice if you exited the gem socketing sub-screen with the Select/Back button. Fixed a bug that caused the controller to become stuck vibrating indefinitely. Made changes to address corruptions of saved game data. Please note that this patch is currently only available for PlayStation 3 users. Sep 17, 2013 Diablo III Auction House Update FAQ Q. Why is the auction house system being removed from Diablo III? The gold and real-money auction houses have provided a convenient and secure system for trading, but it's also become increasingly clear that despite the benefits they provide, they ultimately undermine Diablo’s core gameplay. A big part of Diablo is the thrill of battling demons and finding epic loot. While buying epic loot in the auction houses might be more convenient, it doesn't feel anywhere near as heroic as plowing through a pack of fearsome-looking monsters and having them drop that one awesome item that seems like it was made for your character. Q. Will this change affect both the gold and real-money auction house? Yes. We will be shutting down both the gold and the real-money auction houses. Q. When will the gold and real-money auction houses be removed from the game? The gold and real-money auction houses will be shut down on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Q. Are the gold and real-money auction houses shutting down at the same time? Yes. The gold and real-money auction houses will be shut down at the same time. Q. Are the gold and real-money auction houses being removed for all gameplay regions? Yes. The gold and real-money auction houses are being removed for all gameplay regions. Q. Why aren’t the auction houses being removed sooner? Since the gold and real-money auction houses receive a regular amount of daily activity, we wanted to inform everyone of this upcoming change as soon as we made the decision and give as much advance notice as soon as possible. Also, removing the auction houses from the game is no small endeavor, and there were many technical and gameplay-related questions we still need to answer before this change is implemented. Q. Are there any plans to add the gold and real-money auction houses back into the game in the future? No. We have no plans at this time to add either the gold or real-money auction house back into the game after they are removed. Q. How will I be able to trade with other players once the gold and real-money auction houses are shut down? Once the gold and real-money auction houses have been shut down, players will still be able to trade with one another using the in-game Trade Window. Q. On what day and at what time will the gold and real-money auction houses be shut down in all regions? The gold and real-money auction houses are currently scheduled to shut down in all gameplay regions at approximately 3:00 a.m. PT on Tuesday, March 18. Please note that this schedule may change and that the auction houses could be shut down a little earlier or later on March 18. Q. Will the shutdown process require maintenance? No, the shutdown will not require maintenance. However, the current shut down time will overlap with scheduled Tuesday maintenance for the Americas gameplay region. Q. What will happen to my current auctions when the gold and real-money auction houses are shut down? All active auctions will expire as normal following the shutdown of the gold and real-money auction houses on Tuesday, March 18. Once the shutdown is complete, items will either be delivered to the current highest bidder or returned to the seller, appearing in each player's Completed tab. Unclaimed gold will also appear in the Completed tab. Players will be able to claim gold and items and from this tab until June 24, 2014. Successful transactions involving Balance and/or PayPal will be processed normally and all usual fees will apply. Q. What happens to my unclaimed items and gold in the Completed tab after the shutdown? Players will be able to claim gold and items from the Completed tab in both the gold and real-money auction houses until June 24, 2014. Items and gold not claimed by this date will be consumed by Treasure Goblins, never to be seen again. To avoid any unintended loss of gold or items, we strongly recommend that players clear out their Completed tabs prior to March 18, 2014. Q. How will I be able to access the Completed tab after the gold and real money auction houses are shut down? The auction house window will remain available for all players until June 24, 2014; however, the ability to Bid, Buyout, and list new auctions in the gold and real-money auction houses will be disabled on March 18, 2014. To access the Completed tab after the gold and real-money auction houses have shut down, simply click on the gavel icon and select which auction house (gold or real-money) you wish to access. The Completed tab will appear in its normal location on the far right of the auction house window. Q. My Completed tab is already full! What will happen to outstanding items after the gold and real-money auction houses are shut down? Each Completed tab can display up to 50 items at a time. If a player has more than 50 items to claim from the gold or real-money auction house, those outstanding items (including unclaimed gold) will remain in the Completed tab "backlog." As items are removed from the Completed tab and additional space is made available in the UI, items in the backlog will begin to appear and can be claimed as normal. Please note that items and gold in the backlog will be removed permanently from the game after June 24, 2014. Q. What will happen to my existing Balance? Your Balance total will not be affected by the shutdown of the gold and real-money auction houses on March 18, 2014. In addition, players will still be able to use their Balance to purchase a variety of services and Blizzard games from the Shop. For more information, please visit our Balance support article. Q. Can I convert my Balance into cash after the real-money auction house is shut down? No. Funds added to Balance are not refundable (except as otherwise provided by law) and cannot be converted into cash.
