Rolling the socket would give you either attack speed or resource or cooldown. If you reroll the damage range of the weapon and not gift the weapon, you could have a lot more damage, something around 2600-2700 (your max top-end of 1285 is pretty bad when it can roll up to 1490). The answer is dependent on what you value the most. Currently, attack speed on bows is worthless, might change in future. So gifting the bow will only give you either CDR, Resource cost reduction, or attack speed, at the expense of raw damage.

Why are there two layers of RNG on top of one another? Why not just make the legendary power always "Grants you a fifth passive"?

Shoulders and chest can only be re-rolled to sentry, rain of vengeance, spike trap, companion, or fan of knives. I would think that sentry would still be your best bet on M6 gear. Although I have not played on PTR, I would think if you were going fire build, cindercoat would be better than magefist, as you get both fire damage and resource reduction on cindercoat, and only fire damage on magefist. My calamity is decent. My TNT is too low to get to 4.15, so I rerolled to CDR until I can hit 4.15.

I haven't played wizard in a bit, but would rerolling the somewhat low damage range and keeping the life on hit be better than losing life on hit for 10% damage?

Are you sure you aren't re-rolling a secondary stat trying to get a socket?

Grift trials are boring, annoying, and a waste of time.Easy solution. Once you complete a Grift trial, all of your trial keystones will be temporarily switched to whatever rank you complete, when you leave the game, they switch back to trial keystones. This way, once you do a trial and unlock a certain rank, you can continue to run that same rank. If you want to try for higher rank, make a new game and do another trial.

Both rings and gloves can roll 50% Crit damage, but rings can only roll 6% crit chance, while gloves can do 10%. If you can't get both CHD and CC on gloves, go for CC.
