Diablo 3 and nVidia Optimus

Technical Support
So, sometime between last night and today, Diablo 3 stopped using the dedicated GPU on my laptop and, instead, started defaulting to the integrated GPU. I do not get the option to change the preferred graphics processor.

I've reinstalled the drivers 4 times and it keeps defaulting back to the integrated graphics.

Setting the global graphics settings to nVidia doesn't work.
Option to change the preferred for D3 is grayed out.
Can't disable the integrated GPU in the bios

What is going on?!?!?

Lenovo Y410p
i7-4700MQ
8GB DDR3
Geforce GT 755M
Windows 8.1 64 bit
i think you need to go into bios and turn it off

Can't. The option is not there.

The workaround works for now.....just a hassle...

i cant do that for now man im with amd im trying to figure this out
im having the same problem :(
We're still trying to find out what might have caused this. We've updated nothing in the time frame this started happening so it doesn't appear to be anything with the game or Desktop App. The working theory right now is a possible Windows Update or an update for another product is interfering.

I'm having the same issues. It's a bit annoying having to right click everytime to start. Hopefully a full fix to the problem is found soon.
just started happening to me too

i left at about 6 PM (PST) today and everything was fine, came back home just now (9 PST) and can only select intergrated graphics card in the NVIDIA customization options

If it helps, the only Windows updates I've had recently were:

Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 (Definition 1.167.1334.0) - 3/6/2014
Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 (Definition 1.167.1238.0) - 3/5/2014

Everything else was 3/4/2014 or earlier.
Same issue here. It was fine about an hour ago then when I logged out it switched over to integrated graphics :(

Just to confirm this, the only change to my Windows since the last time the game worked properly is an update to Windows Defender.

Asus N56JR Laptop
Windows 7 64bit
i7-4700HQ
8 GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 760M
I'm having the exact same problem, literally happened over night.
The only thing I did was install an itunes update between then and now -.-

Alienware M17xR4
Windows 7 64 bit
nvidia 680M driver version 334.89
For me the same. Game doesn't run on my gt740m.
Same problem

Alienware M17xR4
Windows 7 64 bit
Nvidia 680M GTX driver version 334.89
Soo i guess we just have to wait until they fix it.... League of Legends here i come xD
I have the same issue, worked fine 2 days ago, then I restarted the game and it's unable to use nvidia gpu since then. Only in Diablo btw, works fine in other games.

MSI GT70
Windows 8.1 64 bit
Nvidia GTX 770M driver version 334.89
SOLUTION

I had the same issue, after I updated my graphics driver. I rolled back to the previous version and now everything is working great again.

If you can't roll back your drivers.

1. Download the previous version.
2. Uninstall your graphics drivers
3. Restart computer.
4. Install downloaded drivers.

Enjoy guys.
My drivers were updated more than a week ago, I didn't even have Diablo installed back then, so it did work with my current drivers. I suppose I could try rolling back just out of curiosity...

The current drivers have been out for over a month. I just happened to update to them yesterday and that's when I had the issue.

Let us know if it works for you.
Our developers are in contact with Nvidia now discussing the issue. The latest working theory/rumor is an update to the GeForce Experience program may have inadvertently disabled Diablo III from being able to select the High Performance Nvidia adapter. Again, that's just a theory/rumor right now.
