I can confirm, the game will freeze on the loading screen for going back to town.

This has happened twice in a row so far for me.

I'm on a mid-2012 retina macbook pro, OS X 10.9.2, 16 gigs RAM, GeForce 650M.

This didn't used to happen, and it's annoying missing out on the XP and gold.
this really needs to get fixed, it is getting really annoying. This has happened to me 3 times in the last 2 days and have had it freeze twice on the load screen right after i spent my rift keys. It never happened until 2 days ago.
Same issue here and has happened several times. I am more and more reluctant to play until this gets fixed.

Mid 2012 iMac 2.5 GHz Core i5 w/ 12 GB ram AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB video card

Hope this gets acknowledged and addressed soon and hopefully this thread does not get buried.

TY OP for starting this thread.
i am almost to the point i am going to uninstall the game I go run a set a bounties just to get the keys to have it freeze and loose the keys after the rift is opened up
This happened to me multiple times.
Not sure why this isn't listed in the issue list in the sticky.

Somethings wrong with rifts itself. Like, when you ctrl+hover over an item,
it sometimes gets really heavy.
This doesn't happen at all in other modes.

-Below is just a guess-

I remember that there was an initialization before RoS hit which organizes the files.
Maybe the compression method or what ever they did started to cause the problem.

Since rifts load random dungeons, I first thought maybe this might be caused from read/write speed.
For example,
people with HDDs: slowdowns or crash if unlucky.
people with SSDs: slowdowns.
A person streaming at twitch also noticed massive slowdowns during rifts, and only rifts.
So if its a read/write issue, it means SSDs even can't handle it.
I am also experiencing the same issue. game crashes when trying to exit the rift and I have to restart my computer. Gonna see if windowed mode will allow me to force quit the game
Same thing just happened to me; finished the rift and tried to portal to town; game froze. I was running in windowed mode, so I will be able to force quit the game, although I hate to do that and lose the xp/gold.

I'm on a late 2013 27" iMac, 3.5 GHz i7, 24 GB ram, upgraded graphics card, running 10.9.2.. I've turned down the textures, so I'm no longer getting the frequent freezes while playing (talked about in other threads). So I thought I'd be able to complete a rift, but no such luck.

I guess I won't do more rifts until this is fixed.

Good idea! please update if windowed mode allows a force quit if the game freezes. had to restart so many times, I will not do any more rifts and am almost afraid to play the game until this is fixed.
Same issue here on macbook, crashes on loading screen after teleporting back to town after killing rift boss.
Playing in windowed mode does allow a force quit.
I am having exactly same issues plus when I rejoin in and banner to my friend, it crashes. It happened so many times today.

This has to be addressed properly. It is unplayable.I can't do any solo run because of this issue.

Same situation here, also the freezing, several times. Any efforts to deliver a short-term solution will be highly appreciated Blizz, thank you.

Thanks OP for the notice.
MASON: "Something is Wrong with Rifts..."

I've been thinking this also.. I can play bounty rounds many times, but if I enter a RIFT, and try to exit after completing it, game will crash...

SOMETHING is wrong with Rifts! What are you doing different there than the regular game?
I also notice that my Computers cooling fan comes on shortly after entering the rift! It's HOT down there!! LOL
Happened to me.

2007 iMac
HD 2600 GPU
My temporary solution is not to TP immediately after completing the rift boss, but to use the waypoint to somewhere else using the 'M' key (really, anywhere else). After that, just return to where you started your rift. Alternatively I use the 'teleport to player' method after my other party-mates have returned to town. I've not had any crashes since using this method.
When this has happened to me, it has been when someone already TP'd back to town and ended the Rift quest initiating the "Rift Closing..." countdown. I then try to TP out of the rift and my game crashes, forcing me to restart my computer. I have not crashed when I TP back before someone has ended the rift quest.

Hope that helps.

I don't TP out of the rift before anybody else anymore because of the crashes..
Now I wait till somebody goes out and closes the rift so that my reward (gold and xp) is cashed and then I TP out.

Still very frustrating Blizz, please check this issue and fix.

Recent MacBook Pro - Mavericks, all up to date.
Can confirm. iMac 27 i5 12GB RAM Mavericks. After 2.0.5 frame drops started to appear and for about 1-2 weeks the game freezes after teleport. In the last few days almost after every rift the game crashes when i tele out.

*HINT* Pressing ALT+CMD+ESC force quits the app.
Can confirm aswell , game craash when teleport out of rifts or back to rift after succesfull teleport to town.
