How to move out of Torment II

Hardcore
Hey hcore folks,

I have been stuck in and around Torment II for some time now and have zero luck at finding the set pieces I need. I can't decide if I am just too averse to taking damage or I am not gear/skilled properly. (I would say I am a relatively casual player 10 - 20 hours a week)

In general at T2 I have no problem clearing mobs/elites, but if I encouter 1-2 tough elite packs !@#$ can get pretty scary.

Any advice appreciated!

Your charecter would really benefit from 2-3 PC aghulids(sp?) and RORG. i would farm for that while gambling for more IK pieces. (chests seems to be most common for me while gambling) My barb can clear T5 and our gear is not that different (main thing being the aformentioned) Your survivability will go way up when you get IK set.
Aghuilds eh?? Ok I will check it out. I am work on farming RORG, just epic bad rng so far! Thanks for the tips though!
looking at your barb:

get rid of:

shoulders - craft aughilds
bracers- craft aughilds
both rings - craft rare from jeweler and other ring get a RRoG
you need critical hit chance, critical hit damage, main stat and socket on the rare ring. Get RRoG and roll either CC, cd, or socket.
pants - craft captain crimsons
legs- craft captain crimsons

that alone gets you to T3 easily, even T4 in pub games is not out of reach.

once you gather enough pieces of ik, sub with that. Same goes to earth SET
What about advice re: builds until I get some set bonuses? I don't typically use WW but have been b/c have I some lightening % + stat rolled onto items plus the leg gem benefit. Thoughts?
Thats somewhat personal preferance IMO. I like WW and it seems to work well enough, so i use it with +lightning DMG.
While you don't get the double unity combo, try to use 3 gems:

Mirinae, Moratorium and Pain Enhancer

Get a nice 2h weapon, maybe this http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/heart-slaughter or Furnace if you find one, you are going physical

Use this build:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#XhiSkU!jceV!caZZcZ

Leap to proc Vaxo, WW/FC to proc Pain Enhancer, your fury generators will be FC, Warcry and Leap.

Try to get RoRG and Mix Aughilds with BT or Ashearas or Captain crimsons until you get 3 IK pieces, then change your build to:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#XhjSki!jceV!cacZcZ

With a nice 2h weapon your main damage dealers will be pain enhancer and mirinae, you will melt mobs with those gems.

Finally, end game is IK+EQ, don't go Raekor's if you want to play safer.

I was using this build with vaxo and strongarms:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#XhjTki!iceV!cacccZ

Died because I tried to go grifts without ignore pain, so, always put ignore pain in your skill bar, bravado is a nice option if you are not going WW.

With double unity use bane of the powerful gem.
Awesome guys thanks, this is why the hcore community is so much better.

AkUriel why do you prefer the two handed weap? Does it ultimately just have a higher DPS output? I thought I got pretty lucky w/ my Tfury find and thought I might want to build around that.

I will take your advice and test out some other gems though. I just love being a conduit shrine :P I usually swap hoarder out for the smite gem, but I will try mixing it up.
2h weapons are now BiS, you can also try to use:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/sledge-of-athskeleng

Until you get a furnace and use ramaladni's gift.

2h weapons have higher base damage, so it works better with pain enhancer and other gems that deals damage per second, also it is better for EQ/Raekors set, and DPS/fury spend wise.

Thunderfury is now a nice templar weapon.

BTW, I am not playing any of my barbs, I was playing on seasons, but she died and now I am playing DH, she died because I wanted to speed farm GR 26 in order to get a key to GR 29/30, and used sprint instead of ignore pain, and got a bad elite pack with frozen+electrified+arcane, with ignore pain I would be able to break the frozen effect.
I'm currently using a Maximus and I prefer it over even an IK boulder breaker which would give me perma fire ancients, the fire chain it spawns seems to do more damage for me than ancients would on everything but single target.

this has been the case for the longest time. dat 270k deeps

honestly there isnt much point in leaving t2/t3 pub games until you are t6+ capable because the numbers of bloodshard you can get from clear speed is hard to beat in most t4/t5 pub groups. it may be boring but the easiest solution would be to just gear stuff out in t2.
If you still need RORG just add me D3facto. I will invite you when I clear it so you can pick up the cache. I need to farm some fragments anyways. I might be playing tonight.

Maximus is a nice option as well if you are going fire, but most of HC players uses IK because of the together as one rune for T5/6 or GR24+.

Agree, just try to be careful with pub, most of the time it is nice, but sometimes there are players trying to create traps.

Awesome thanks will do. I am on PST, likely going to be online tonight sometime around 7. Just going to be running caches until my rng stops hating me.

Thanks again to everyone on here, needed some input to figure out what I could do to get past T2.
It will be quick. Running on T6

Awesome that will be much needed help!! I only play w/ one other friend and he is in the same boat as me at the moment.
Besides crafting gear, do some low level GRifts and get some gems. The legendary gems are incredibly powerful.

Dont forget to also give him a

makes the perfect combination. :P

The amulet that increase stun duration on templar can also work wonders.
Alright well it looks like Trogdor is slowly improving thanks to the tips/help I got!! Great advice about Wyrdward, just haven't had any luck finding it.

I have every Legendary Gem at the moment, my RNG has just prevented me from getting the sockets I need. Here is an update on where I am at now, T3 is starting to feel a hell of a lot safer. What I really need it to get a new ring!

Oh balls. R.I.P Trogdor. May the lag forever be in your favour.
