T6 Rift Clearing Competition

Barbarian

Which gear and skill setup is the best in Torment 6?

Rules:
1. Clear 10 subsequent T6 Rifts.
2. Pick up legendaries and (attempt to) kill goblins*.

* In case you get a goblin pack, try to kill as many as you can like you would normally do. The decision of skipping elites or trash is up to you.

Timer starts when you enter the first rift and ends when you receive the reward from Orek after clearing the 10th. Resetting (leaving and continuing) games after clearing a rift to skip the 30 sec rift closing wait is not allowed - to keep the circumstances somewhat even for all participants. If you do not stay in the game, you´ll gain a 30 sec penalty for each reset, up to 4.5 minutes.

We all know there is a lot of RNG involved in rifts so the requirement of running 10 in a row is there to slightly even out the odds. Note that I´d rather not see heavy gear swapping but it is allowed in rifts so do whatever you want.

When you post your result, please include the following information:
> total time (minutes and seconds)
> your build
> link to your character
> description / explanation of your setup

Optionally, you can keep track of your gold, XP and legendary gain during the challenge.

This is a friendly competition for those who may lack the motivation to play these days or are tired of running Greater Rifts. T6 rift clearing is still a somewhat relevant metagame.

Good luck and have fun.

Double SoJ and Tyrael's Might good ideas?

Which gear and skill setup is the best in Torment 6?

Ive read your other post and I think your challenge is in response to my comment that clearing trash is not a propper clear. Have a read of my reply.

Also, I was going to post a similar competition but these were the rules which reflect my farming method. And IMO the most efficient method of maximising your legendary drop chances.

1. Most elites/gobs/chests killed/opened and RG killed.
2. Shortest times (time is from beginning of rift to RG kill).
3. No conduits/pylons. Shrines are ok (ie frenzy/empowered).
4. Post your three best clears (sorry but 10? thats a bit excessive).
5. Non Raekers, we know its BIS. This is WW/IK Vs the rest of the world.

Ranking is subject to most elites packs/gobs/RG/chests killed/opened in the quickest time possible. For example, if there were two clears of say 5 mins exactly, but one cleared 11 elites/RG and the other 8 elites/RG, then the 11 elite/RG clear is ranked higher.

Drops (legendaries) collected are irrelevant as this is about maximum chance of drops in shortest possible time which equals best farming efficiency.

Reason for these rules. I dont kill trash where I can help it and I focus on elites/chests/Gobs until I get to the RG in order to maximise my legendary drop potential.

Let me know if you want to run your competition by these rules, otherwise I can run this version at a later date which IMO better reflects which build is the most efficient at farming T6 legendaries.

Of course, if your challenge is just about speed clearing only, then Ill concede now and agree a IK COTA build with WW would be faster at this.

Also, I was going to run a solo and barb duo competition.

Cheers

Finally something fun to do! I still remember killing myself to get on the leaderboard for demonic essences in vanilla lol. Good luck!

Edit - Is there a link to that one anywhere?
Alright I'll be first:

Time: 64 minutes
Build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WSkRPj!ZSjX!caccZa
Character: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/KevinTSmith-1394/hero/19906924
Char Note: Used all rubies + Maximus (profile may have furnace/diamonds)

Description: This isn't going to be the fastest but I thought we should have a baseline score with a classic FC build. No gimmicks just straight Leorics, VW, and Chilanik's FC play. Standard offensive spec w/ BR, BK. Rampage, Ruthless. I'd say overall density was average...had one great map and 2 bad maps.

Interesting Notes:

Did not use sprint/warzechian/rechels
Did not skip any packs
Did not gear swap at all
Skipped all Pylons but took Shrines
Deaths: 1
Goblins: 8
Legendary Count: 26
Good Legendary Count: 0

I did not count gambled items in my legendary count but I gambled 1000 ish shards on pants and got 4 legendary items. Nothing good but did hit a pair of badly rolled Pox. Looking forward to a friendly competition!

Edit - I highly recommend taking Pylons out of it though as a well times conduit would really skew things. Could take shrines out but I think those are ok they don't have nearly as profound an effect.

We will see which type of clears are more efficient when it comes to loot if people also keep track of gold, XP and legendary drops during the runs. I mean the 30 sec after each Rift are more than enough time to write x legs dropped in this rift or simply put all in the stash and count them after you´re done.

We´ll see how many legs/hour on average the different approaches yield.

So killing everything is not as efficient as focusing on things that have the highest chance to drop legendaries, ie elites/gobs/chests etc. But certainly not trash. This to my knowledge was a common practice and something all D3 vanilla barbs know.

Not sure what has happened since then, perhaps people are more concerned with paragon points and clear times rather than farming loot the most efficient way possible.

I actually remember that during the 1 hour DE challenge I hardly got any legendaries in the later stages of vanilla. Most people simply ran Fields of Misery over and over again for highest legs/hour values. They definitely didn´t kill elites for loot. Or did you mean RoS?

Anyway, physical WW/Rend kills trash while passing by so most would die even if I attempted to skip it. Gonna give it a try tonight. Thinking that a sub 1 hour time would be a good result.

Judging by my first go at it (previous post) really just playing standard I think the best times will be in the low 50's. We'll see. I'm going to keep track of gold/xp next time as well.

Answer this one question then.

Which has the higher chance to drop a legendary, elites or trash?

You also need to read my first post in this thread. If Im clearing T6 in 6 mins and killing 14 elite packs and your clearing T6 in 5 mins and killing 9 elite packs, which has the highest chance of collecting the most legendaries in the shortest possible time? It doesnt matter how many legendaries actually drop in a challenge, thats always up to RNG. What matters is that you have maximised your chances of a legendary drop within the shortest possible time.

Your competition with the rules you currently have will only demonstrate which build can clear everything in T6 the quickest and not the most efficiently. It will not demonstrate which build clears T6 with the highest legendary drop chance in the shortest possible time. Which to me, is a proper or efficient T6 clear. Unless of course you change your competition to reflect the rules I mentioned earlier. But like I said, if you dont want to measure highest chance/shortest time for legendary drops, then Ill run this competition at a later date.

This was a good run but I found Act 2 (think VOTA, will have to look up) was by far the most efficient we found (ran in several groups who used to farm this) for farming DE, mats, legendaries etc. FOM was great for keeping perma WOTB up but VOTA if you were quick enough and got used to glancing for Elite packs could sometimes yeild as much as 7 elite packs in one very short run plus the odd gob/chest etc.
Time: 61 mins and 35.8 seconds
Link: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Raz-1361/hero/44736256

Description:

Standard build of Raekors, Leoric's, VW, and Maximus, Chilanik, SoJ/RoRG. Used Bane of the Powerful instead of Mirinae.

10 runs included opening chests that I could see, picking up yellows and porting back to town then back, and summoning elites via Nemesis Bracers.

Died twice to a poorly-timed charge to a fire chain mob and a group of executioners leap stunning me.

Fastest rift: 3 mins and 30 seconds with no conduit
Slowest rift: 6 mins
Max rift level before RG spawned: 3
Goblins killed: 4
Legendary items: 17 (best leg was a Flavor of Time with 94% CHD, socket, 5% CDR, 11% movement speed and 93 resists)
Legs from Kadala: 0
Paragon levels gained: 1 (from 519-520)
Pylons are allowed. They are part of the game at the moment plus people swap to Nemesis to spawn elites. Can´t forbid that.

Here´s my result:

6,461,785,592/6,993,120,000-1,167,987,938-17:44:00
2,909,902,091/7,054,320,000-1,173,236,536-17:35:34-21 legs

Time: 51:34 -> 5 min 9.4 sec average
Legs: 21 -> 24.43 / hour (this includes gambling)
XP: +3,441,236,799 -> 4.004b / hour
Gold: +5,248,598 -> 6.1m / hour (lol Hoarder needed)

Average clear time per rift without the 30 sec rift closing "ceremony" was 4 min 42.4 sec.

I realized I was wearing diamonds the whole time. :/ I'll test it again tonight and maybe stop picking up too much yellow and gold piles. Must. Resist.

I mourn for every Heart Slaughter that I've salvaged so far. I'll probably never see one again.

Average clear time per rift without the 30 sec rift closing "ceremony" was 4 min 42.4 sec.

I think the competition would be more fair if you guys only considered the time between the start of the rift (after the loading) and finish of town portal animation (before loading)...mostly because it removes the advantage people with faster PCs/connections get =P

Either way...I only took the in-rift times and that's what my runs looked like:
#1 - 4:19
#2 - 5:34
#3 - 4:23
#4 - 4:01
#5 - 4:41
#6 - 5:08
#7 - 6:28
#8 - 4:49
#9 - 4:34
#0 - 5:12
Total Time - 49:39 [Avg 4:55 per Rift] with 18 legendaries found, no gambling.

Best times obviously are from really dense areas which, from my observations, were the largest ones (Halls of Agony, Festering Woods, Northern Highlands, Oasis, Wastelands, Keep Depths, A5 Swamps, Battlefields...).

That was only a test run so I didn't write down the number of goblins/shrines. Taking advantage of both Harrington and Warzechian is pretty neat for Rifts, I had forgotten how cool they were.
Pretty sure that certain times can be better.

Will submit a 'right' one once I get more keys.

yep those 2 are sooooo beast :) don't forget trang ouls though for swapping!!!
This was fun. Thanks to Nubtro and Mikhail for making WW awesome again!

Time: 1:03:45 with Orek
Build: Sunbringer Double Dot Nado
Character: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Nokio-1180/hero/51943192
Legendaries: 19 including Kadala. Also found my first Heartslaughter :)

Very happy with the <6.5 minute average clear including Orek downtime. Pain Enhancer (32) Toxin (27) and Wreath (26) for movespeed bonus/AOE tag for gems. Gearswapped halfway through from Chilanik to Harrington. Also wanted to say that Taskers are nice but not completely necessary for this build. I can keep Berserker Rage up on the RG for at least 90% of the whole fight. Not gonna lie though, would love a pair for myself :)

Also curious what everyone's DOTs are ticking at. Highest I've seen is 22 million. Thought a 26 popped up but can't be sure.

Oh yea. Long cooldowns aren't really needed on T6 but I always keep TO on inventory.
However, for GRift Trials, they allow you to permaWotB as long as you run some CDR.
I guess TO depends on build, but for raekors they are golden when t6 speeding.
Lol where are the videos. Seriously....
Looking forward to a speed run tonight...that plain FC run I did was painfully slow lol.
