TX Rift Clearing Competition

hi,

remember the good old T6 clearing competition?

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/16283658847?page=1

Well, we have plenty of good speedfarming builds out there, so maybe we should measure them out by means of competition?
who's fast, who's even faster...

now. of course, T6 is redundant, TX seems more appropriate (although not perfect, but it's at least comparable).
Rules:
1. Clear 10 consecutive Solo TX difficulty Nephalem Rifts (Until Rift Guardian is killed)
2. pick up any Legendary or Set quality item that drops (including GR key, forgotten souls etc) as well as Death Breaths
3. attempt to kill any goblins or goblin packs.*

there is time penalty for skipped/unpicked legendaries
* In case you get a goblin pack, try to kill as many as you can like you would normally do.

Timer starts when you first enter the rift and ends when you receive award from Orek by the end of 10th rift. No exiting the game between the Rifts (no resetting game).

Then post results into this thread and include
> total time (minutes and seconds)
> build and description
> optionally some explanation etc
Be prepared to have a recorded video as a proof (or proovide it in the post).

Any set or class combo, season/nonseason, gear/skill swapping etc is allowed.

Running 10 in a row evens out RNG moment a bit, so this thould give a better indictation about build overall farming speed.

if you miss a few DB-s or if you can't kill all the gobs, that's fine. play as you normally do your rift farming. This is a friendly competition.

Good Luck and Have Fun

I would also recommend people have to pick up DB since realistically you will be picking them up on TX. I always hate seeing videos of people claiming they run super fast yet they leave everything behind. Sure I can do TX in 3min, but really it always takes me 5min.

I like these competitions but I am terrible at them since I get distracted and pause the game all the time.
Sounds like a cool idea.
Good idea. Lots of decent T10 builds floating around, but they aren't created equal.

I'd like to see separate categories for with Sages and without. Hopefully the Sages specs are all wearing/cubing Nemesis, since that's a lot more DB, and that's the goal of Sages specs.

Folks should also keep in mind that 3-4p coop T10 has a much higher dps requirement compared to solo T10 in 2.4. Evaluating all the specs in the solo environment is fine, but performance will not translate proportionately into coop T10. The specs that are doing just enough to kill T10 elites while solo will fall short in T10 coop.

very true, specially if u consider tx split bounties where ur dealing with elite and specially bosses on your own.

Is there any need to doing bounties in T10? Did they buff the rewards for bounties completed in difficulties higher than T7?
Yep. Soloing a 4p coop T10 split bounty Belial/Malth is going to be a serious concern for some of the T10 Rift specs.

Yes, another bounty mat on T10 (5 per cache).

T10 split bounties = new T7 split.

Screw that, I'm not soloing T10 Malthael in a 4p game in HC. I think I'll be sticking to T7 for a really fast 8 mats.
I have a feeling that T10 additional mat is only useful for people like me who are always solo, or for very organized groups. Solo I can do T10 just as fast as T7 since the limiting factor is movement speed. In PUGs though, your limiting factor is the other 3 who you can't rely on most of the time, making T10 likely slower to get mats.
Agree, T7 may still be best for PUGs because of the folks who aren't prepared for T10 splits.

Pre-patch, pub T7 splits were actually pretty dependable with 90+% of folks being prepared, knowing what to do, and at least do it at acceptable pace. Don't think we'll see that on T10 pubs this patch...

Yeah, I wouldn't trust a T10 pub bounty group. In T7 it doesn't really matter, even poorly geared / inexperienced characters can clear fast enough that it's not a huge problem. But T10 is a different story.

If you can get a group together from your clan or friends list or whatever of people you know are solid, it can probably net more mats per hour. And I guess in HC you could find a group that was okay with leaving Malthael until the end and tackling him as a group or whatever.

But I think for the majority of people, T7 splits will end up being more efficient. T10 will only be more efficient in a really good group, and only slightly more efficient at that. Enemies on T10 have more than 10x as much health as T7. You need really solid DPS to make the extra two mats outweigh the slower kill times for higher health enemies.

I can attest to this, its already been frustrating trying to do tx in a pub....
yeah, sure solo and party are different things; but it's really hard to put a party competition (well, the GR-s are for that), so solo is sort of next-best.
and well, the format is already "verified". 10 consecutive rifts eliminates most of the rift RNG, so actual

the player, who facerolls solo TX in sub 2mins will have no issue on 4p game. incoming damage is the same regardless of the players and HP scaling is also favorable to the group.

but the thing about DB-s have a point. so i think picking up DB-s should be required too.

the queues are back in EU for season games, so i'll probably give tonight a try and post a result.
Right. No one is saying comparisons and assessments should be made in coop games. There are way more variables there than in solo. It's just a note of caution regarding interpreting results and extrapolating to the very different environment of 4p coop, and especially 4p T10 bounty splits.

I watched a lot of the PTR T10 farming spec videos. Almost universally, the specs did not 'overkill' elites. Players spent several attack turns (or 5 or 10...) to down elites. The specs almost never had Sages. These specs are unlikely to translate into effective T10 4p coop specs for DB farming. They definitely won't be effective for T10 splits.

But, this is all side discussion. The focus should be on the times of the 10-run sample, which is very nice for comparing farm specs.

Yah I've had so many just follow me and do next to nothing lol, T7 bounties in beginning of last patch all over again, yep!

I keep telling them to augment their farm toon gears first which is advice I should have taken but I wanted to get a solid rank start till I play 40 hours on vacation in 3 weeks so I augmented my solo pusher.

Course most of these players do not have multiple toons and are just figuring things out, you'll really only see the hardcore gamers or PTR testers who know what they're doing at this stage.

Try explaining this to them though and all they do is give you the 'whatever, wiz obviously OP this season ffs' response (I've already got that twice in-fact). 'Wow should I just sit in town since I'm useless' was one response I got an hour ago to that I said 'sure, I've got the votekick option' lol.

TL:DR They're figuring things out, give it time.
Okay, someone has to start, right?

10x TX rifts, total time: 41:47

"WaveHopper" build with FB4/Tal6.
http://us.battle.net/d3/en-us/forum/topic/20419192912#1

cubed Cinder/RoRG/Cosmic Strand
BotP/BotT/Toxin
no augments

pure times (rift enter 'til guardian killed)
rift1 0:08-3:20=3:12
rift2 04:09-07:19=3:10

rift10 37:59-41:44=3:44
average net 3:17

by the end, fingers got quite tired tbh. no deaths.
Suspiciously very few Gobs by the way. did they nerf them?!?

video here (being proccessed atm):
https://youtu.be/ugYJhpoWM0E

lots of time was lost between the rifts themselves (in-out teleporting, few times couldn't get out safely and had to re-townport). The best way to do it, is after killing the guardian, quickly TP to town, close the rift and then during the 30sec countdown, enter back, pickup stuff and do the chores. About 2/3 times i could do that, but few rifts couldn't, just too many trash around for safe teleport.
Got 14 GR keys and 178 DB-s.
none of really useable legendaries, no surprises here. i think i picked 'em all up, nothing important was left on the floor.

PS. So little EXP. 10 TX rifts and not a single paragon, esp considering my low para.
PPS. my old T6 time was something 28:18 or so, same build, just older patch.
PPPS (Offtopic). i actually skipped this PTR altogether, didn't even install it. blame Fallout4.

Keep some Homing Pads in your inventory? You won't need the FB4p when you are porting out. Just remember to swap back to your FB shoulders before you start the next rift.
To keep it going I've just recorded my runs with a fresh build.
