Disconnection problems (Code 1016)

Hi there everyone i bought the game about a month ago and everything was working perfectly until the first update came( I think it was just some minor update), I started getting disconnected saying that I lost my connection to the server but my connection was steady and good for the whole time. It didn't happened that much until the new Rise of Necromancer patch came up. Now after playing for 5 minutes I get the same screen plus when it puts me back on character select screen and a window pops up saying network problem "Code 1016". I can't play longer that 5 minutes without getting disconnected. If anyone has experience with this kind of problem and has a solution that would be great.

Let me add that I read some of the previous posts about this problem and you said that everyone make individual post about the problem because every individual might have different problem.
The code is a generic error it simply means you were disconnected. It doesn't tell us why so what might be causing it for one player may not be what causes it for your troubles.

Many times it is a connection issue but issues with the client, interference from other programs or in some cases driver/OS troubles can cause the client performance to drop to a point where it disconnects from the service.

Make Sure your OS and Video Drivers are up to date:

For AMD video cards go here.
For Intel go here.
For all Nvidia Video cards go here.

If you use an Nvidia GPU, please disable Nvidia Share. You can access this option through the Geforce Experience Desktop Application. Simply log into the application. Click on the gear symbol, scroll down to the Share Section and move the slider to off.

Try doing an extended power cycle on your system. Turn off all devices including the modem. Wait 20 minutes, turn on the modem, wait 5 minutes, turn on any network devices, wait 2 minutes, turn on your computer and try the game.

You can try switching your DNS settings to use Google's free public DNS servers instead of your ISPs Servers.

Let's reset the in game user options:
1. Click the blue bnet icon on the bnet app.
2. Choose settings, then game settings.
3. Click the reset in game user options button under the correct game listing.
4. Confirm the changes and close the window.

Run the Scan and Repair tool.

If you are on Windows 10, please disable the Game DVR (Please also disable GameBar and GameMode functions if you are on the Creators Build)

Try running your system in selective startup mode.

If that doesn't solve the issue let's get some connection data by running a WinMTR Test.

I tried all the things you mentioned in your reply and some additional that you didn't and still I get the DC errors. Got anything else?
I had this same issue but I also ended up losing things. My boyfriend and I were playing, he dropped two of the same belts for me. I got the first one and then got kicked out when I signed back in the belt was gone, not in mu inventory, stash or his inventory/stash. so he drop his other one for me, same thing happened, even though before I was kicked out I had put it in my stash. It wasn't there when I came back. I recorded it in case the support team wanted to take a look at what happened.
I cant play Diablo 3 anymore. Code 1016 always kicking me.
JUST FIX IT.

This Bug happens at ONLY Diablo 3 or BlizzApp.
I didn't had that problem but that is definitely something to report. I personaly can't play at all, because when I try to go anywhere outside of town that I'm in, for example rift or to start clear bounties or anywhere, the loading screen takes so long to load and then I just get disconnected, than code 1016 and than I get kicked out to login screen. Blizzard this is starting to be a big problem to everyone so do something about it`
I can't play Diablo anymore either, it's impossible
I write D3Debug.txt again...pls fix.

I've been having the same 1016 problem, but it's just with the Necro character. D3 works fine with my other characters. I tried all of Kershew's advice, but am still having the same issues. For what it's worth, here's the text from my WinMTR test:

I'm having the same issue? Error code 1016. I can play wow & overwatch and they work fine..
same thing. fix it!
fixed with scan and repair option; didn't have to uninstall or anything.
after playing a few rifts, it is back again......
trying to repair again; but will try reinstalling if it persists.........
never ever had this issue before
I see a bunch of people here having a similar problem and I bet there's much more i honestly think it's the server problem, can someone from technical support respond? You just give the same answer to this problem over and over again and that's is? Common blizzard give us some real solutions or answers at least
I'm having the same problem. I updated my video card drivers and ran scan and repair on the game, no luck. I was able to play for about 45 minutes the other day but that is the only time I have even been able to load into the game. Every time I try since then the load time once I select a character takes a ridiculously long time and then I get disconnected from the server. I've tried with both my Necro and my DH and have the disconnect with both characters.
before the necromancer everything was working fine. now i can't lunch the game. it open i see my character then i try to start a game nothing happen. when i click on change character there is no more character. when i close the game i see that the blizzard app is reconnecting itself to internet. i dont have any connection problem with any other game. i uninstall the game reinstalled it not working. and i try every step that blizzard put on the forum.
and everytime i have the same error code 1016

Yes i had starter edition and it worked fine. no issues, i prurchased D3 battle chest and got the necro addon and now it either wont or if i do im lucky. wow and overwatch work fine so it has to be D3
i just remade some test i can't play in America or Europe server but it work on Asia server -_-. i don't understand
