I am from Malaysia connecting to America Server. Can someone help me to check what is the problem for frequent disconnection Error 1016

I'm getting it too and code 3006. In the US. Worked fine from 5am until around 9am Pacific time. Now I've lost two grift tokens and some 10 mil gold.

Been happenening at certain times of the day. Sometimes it's fine, then it starts crashing.

@CottonBall : the data you have posted is very small (10 samples)... and the test runs from Blizzard's server (24.105.30.3) to you... but does not include anything behind your modem. There is no issue in the data that you have posted.

For a more useful test, run a WinMTR test (see https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/27780 for procedure).... let it run for 10 minutes or so; if it doesn't disconnect, stop the WinMTR and restart it... repeat until you capture a disconnect in a 10-minute long sample.

If the WinMTR is as clear as the data you posted above, you will need to start troubleshooting your installation.... see the stickied conversation here:

I am having huge issues with connection drop outs too.
Same code 1016.
The game freezes way too often, mine mainly saying there is a connection issue.
And it nearly always happens right before I complete a bounty or a rift.

This has been really frustrating as I totally couldn't get any of the loot after hours and hours of play.
I am connecting from Malaysia on the America server.
My internet connections are definitely not the problem, as I am running youtube and websites while playing. All connections are active when the game freezes.

To SEA players that play on Americas region:

As a background information, AUS server is one of the 3 Americas servers.
It should be the closest server for SEA players.

The subsea cable between SEA and AUS has problem again. A reference is here:

Usually, it will take weeks or months to repair subsea cable. I.e. SEA players may suffer lag/disconnection until the cable is repaired.

You may manually force the game to connect you to NA or SA servers:
- go to Launcher > Options > Game Settings
- enable Additional command line arguments
- enter one of the arguments in the text box:

North America server:
OnlineService.Matchmaking.ServerPool=Default

South America server:
OnlineService.Matchmaking.ServerPool=SA1


You may get higher latency due to distance.
I see. Will give it a try with the us server only connection and see how it goes.

Luckily I managed to complete the season rewards.
Means now I can shove this game back on the cold shelve 1st until they fix the cables.
Really wasted so much progress when u open a greater rift and for it to freeze right b4 the boss battle.

Cant submit tickets as the blizzard supports keep hang and time out. Oh my!!!!
I agree with the DC's. Never had a problem until the past week. Now I get DC'd to the point of quitting. Then, it stops. It is NOT my networking issues as the symptoms are freezing, I can switch to a browser and everything is fine. Go back to the game and I'm still F'd. do this several times. The network connection is fine, it is the servers/Blizzard. Tried most of the 'help' which is plain FUD/

LOL. While writing this I tabbed out of the game, went back to it and it is frozen again. But this time TOTALLY FROZEN, not any movement. Kill the process and reload.

As for the stuttering, I hadn't seen it until just now. :( After writing this my game started to stutter after killing and reloading. Like 1/2 second pauses. Game isn't worth playing as is. :(

And no, I am in North America. :(

Update: This is about the 5th edit to this since I started writing it. NOW, every time I swap out of the game to this screen the game totally freezes. What gives!!!!!
yeah 1016s and 3006s have become a major issue ever since the server update 2 weeks ago, then they started happening every few minutes, hell i was in a gr60 and it dcd me at 98% and slapped me in the face with 3 1016s, thats right 3 at the same time, thats has never happened before not even during s3 which was notoriously unstable, its not my comp, had an mvp check that (which is another point of contention, wtf bliz are u guys too damn lazy to check ur own forums for tech support or what) and its not my isp, since i can play any other mmo i have just fine, the servers are messed up and need to be fixed i had hoped the maintenance 2 days ago would have addressed it, tho i was on when the said maintenance was supposed to be happening and was able to go into the game, so that tells me they prolly never actually did it, personally i think blizzard has become the biggest joke in the gaming industry now with their shoddy servers and lack of true tech support, i dont know, maybe its time they refunded people money on their games and closed up shop, cuz i for one am never buying another blizzard product again, and i HIGHLY doubt im the only one who thinks this. my average latency runs at between 108-147 with the occasional lag spike thatll drop me to the 1000 msecs, but it corrects itself after a few seconds, now every time i tp to town i dc....EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! bliz patch the game so its offline only, kill the servers and be done with it, we know thats what u want, if u make it offline u wont need to refund money like u would otherwise by killin an online only game that people payed money for, if servers were to be killed today players would be entitled to a refund because they purchased a product they can no longer use and so spent all this money on a glorified paper weight.

Yeah, actually re-routing to SA and NA servers ended up with the 1016 error disconnection too. What is wrong? There is no issue with my internet connection.

I can stream, download torrent, plays dota, cs:go perfectly fine. Only DIablo 3.

Yep facing same problem as well, I am from Malaysia too.
Just got back into D3 recently and bought Nerco pack, immediately was hampered with constant latency and 1016 disconnection issues. Tried Blizzard's troubleshooting guide and rerouting to SA/NA servers doesn't help too :(
As Maskraider had mentioned, the SEA-ME-WE 3 cable was damaged which is going to cause issues for most of the SEA region. We're seeing quite a few similar reports on the Overwatch forums from players in Malaysia. With that said, the latest update we've seen is that the cable should be repaired around December 21-26. We should hopefully see an improvement around that timeframe as long as repairs don't get pushed back.

Thanks for the update! Hopefully it can be resolved as per planned!
Ok, you have mentioned the SEA-NA and SA servers being affected by the damaged cable but what about the EU server? I can join a game but it takes 30 secs for the lag to go down to about 50-60, then when running around, there are glitches everywhere and god forbid using ur town portal!! Even if I make it to the end of the bounties, it still freezes and kicks me out with error 1016 and then I have trouble connecting without restarting the launcher, all whilst my internet connection has stayed on and true. If this isn't due to the above post by Zhyxen what is being done for us who still love playing this game??? Cos after playing Diablo since the very first game, I am seriously thinking of deleting it as it is unplayable now.
