Lost Connection!

Technical Support
The game connection has been lost: your client has been disconnected from the server. Then it freezes for a long time and then I get this there was an error. (1016)

I've deleted game and reinstalled the game and still same issue. I have a laptop and play on there too without an trouble what's so ever.

Any ideas anyone?

The first thing I would do is make sure you are on a wired connection, if you are using wireless its likely that you are being disconnected due to wireless signal issues. However if that does not help I would go ahead and run a WinMTR connection test by following the instructions here by following the instructions here and then reply back with the results.

Same, I just randomly got disconnected from the game, my Internet connection was and is still working. I just lost every loot from a greater rift and of course, I won't get my key back. Again, nothing happened on my side of connection, I checked it immediately and yes it is a also wired connection. You really need to implement a reconnect feature to the game, so people won't have to lose loot, experience and time for no reason. For me it's not freezing, just disconnects and can't reconnect for about a few minutes, even if I'm online on the Battle.net Client.

I'm in IT I work in networking. When troubleshooting client software the two things I check from a network admin side are 1. Do I have connectivity? And 2. is my hardware working? Ie desktop or laptop or any other device for that matter. Once I establish that its not hardware and its not my network, the only other issue it CAN be is the software. In this case; its the software. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game on numerous occasions and still get the same 1016 error. I know its not a porting issue because I can play other blizzard games on the PC just fine so its not my firewall either. So Blizzard what say you?

Any other ideas that it can be? Going through all the threads seems to be a common issue, even from people posting on my own thread. That tells me if the majority are posting the same issue I would have to assume that this is on Blizzard side not our side. I mean after all we are all have some level of computing because they either built their gaming rigs such as myself or did enough homework to determine what type of PC to buy to have the game compatible.

It is a generic network disconnect issue. It means the server no longer sees you for some reason. It is as common as a traffic jam on a road. There are many things that can cause that.

All it takes is one of the 10-15 physical data hops between you and the game server to have congestion or dropped packets for the server to see an interruption in your connectivity. The path your data takes, just like roads, is different for each server you connect to.

in order to completely review the connection, you need to do the WinMTR test that the Blue asked you to do.

Same here. Constant latency after I get logged in (well over 150 ms), and eventually ending in a disconnect after less than 5 minutes. A pathping shows the culprit on the Blizzard side:

Edit: I'm getting 100% loss from down the blizzard pipe. Now getting an Error 2 and cannot log in.
Having occasional technical issues is simply part of having a technology-based product and service. Not giving an ETA for a fix, or even acknowledging there's an issue, is a wholly different matter.

The moment the D3-related packets leave the internet realm and enter Blizzard's network segment(s), the horrific latency starts.

Every single junction after leaving the internet and hitting your internal network has, at minimum, 24% packet loss (one at 100% loss).

Can you please fix the issue? It's been 2 hours and it's freaking annoying. It's a damn production issue. FIX IT NOW!
Same problem here. Two of us are playing from our location. Only application on any tech in the house that is having problems is this one. Sounds like this a blizzard issue......
