March D3 Event and New SC Themed Pet

General Discussion
Highly Rated
We have two events this month that some people may not be aware of.

1. Starcraft 20th Anniversary celebration has cross game rewards for every Blizzard game. For Diablo 3 we get Dominion’s Revenge, "a fearsome Battlecruiser-themed Pet". FREE. Just log in to Diablo 3 after March 6th to claim the pet. NOTE: This pet is PC only, not Console. Console will get it when the patch releases containing it but there is no ETA for that.

Details here https://starcraft2.com/en-us/sc20

2. Adventuring with Kanai and the Kanai's Skorn Transmog. This event happens every March and honors the memory of Kevin Kanai Griffith, a Blizzard staff member who passed away from cancer. Join Chief Kanai as he battles his favorite enemies. You can find him in the Elder Sanctum Throne Room in the Ruins of Secheron in Act 3 Adventure Mode. This is live now.

During March 24-31st you will also be able to loot a transmog axe from the chest by his throne.

You can read more about the event here https://us.diablo3.com/en/blog/20058187

More details about Kevin Kanai Griffith are in the Kanai's Cube intro article https://us.diablo3.com/en/blog/19817367
Thx very much for the info Miss C!
Thank you for the updates MissCheetah ............ mmmmm more pets
I ran with Kanai the other day on my seasonal toon. His axe didn't spawn though for the transmog.

The axe is just during the last week :)
Thank you MissCheetah. BTW, did you ever hear back from Nev about unlocking your original thread? Still no clue why it was locked rather than stickied.

Ooo, SCII's anniversary. Look at all the other goodies for the other games.

Thanks for the notification MissCheetah.
Too bad the BC pet isn't the Hyperion with Tactical Jump.

Yep! She unlocked it and sticky posted it to the top of the Items and Crafting forum. I can't edit the first post anymore though and we don't know what is up with that. She had to do the Season 13 updates for me. Blizzard has special forum rights we players don't that let them exceed word counts, character counts, post counts, etc.
It might be better to just save the new updates for the new forum platform then. It might come sooner than soonTM since the front news page already redirects to https://us.diablo3.com/en/
Cool info, thanks Cheetah.

I feel like a derp now. I have been wondering for a few days why I was logged in to the forums but logged out of the News page. Did not notice the URL change.

Also the OW forums are https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/ so I suspect we will get a similar link but replace overwatch with diablo3

I am indeed thinking through how I want to plan the new thread. I have everything saved but I don't know if I want to make it exactly the same format or not. My understanding is that there will be some sort of wiki capability in the new forums for advanced users. I can't test it yet because I don't have the permissions on the OW forums where they deployed it.

wiki capability in the new forums for advanced users
Link a thread from the OW forums if you have spotted such made with this capability.

You can add links to pictures of the wings and pets (useful for new/casual players), for example like shown on this page: http://diablo.wikia.com/wiki/Grunkk

Nobody has used the new Wiki feature yet! I think right now only the Blizzard staff and one or two MVPs (not me) have that level of forum "trust". WyomingMyst was asking how to use it the other day in our MVP Discord so I know it exists. Nobody has had a chance to play with it though.

Also yes, I will be able to add clickable links, images, and more! That is, once I have the proper permission levels. I will probably get the basic guide back up and then work on it as I go to improve it.
I get a Battlecruiser for my b.day, Thank You Blizz.
This is actually really cool...sort of... I never knew Kanai was a real guy, not just some Barbarian king. He had a cool story, in game, and now, sad...but sort of cool out of game seeing that he did a lot for Blizzard, and us.

I like that Blizzard does this though, throwing things in to honor or remember people. I remember there was someone in WoW who was a player or company man and passed away. They left an NPC for him you can wave at, or something....somewhere kind of close to where the Undead started, but on the way towards the Dwarves/Gnomes. I don't remember where exactly, but when I stopped playing WoW, I left my Toons in strategic places that were meaningful for me (because?), and my Hunter went to that spot. Seemed like a good place to....leave it all behind.
Thanks.

If you really want to deep dive he kept a blog as he was going through treatment. It is not an easy read. He was passionate about his family, games, and life and was brave to the last. Some of my friends at Blizzard were in his close support network. Blizzard is very very good to people and there are actually quite a few tributes to both living and lost staff and community members in games, esp WoW.

He medical blog http://cowandcheesehealth.blogspot.com/2012/07/i-haz-cancer.html

He was also heavily involved in the charity Gamers for Good. http://www.gamersforgood.com/kkg-kevin-kanai-griffith/

PS. He was 29 when diagnosed and passed away 2 years later.
Do I need to have bought one of the Starcraft 2 games or have SC2 installed on my PC to get the pet in D3?

I know the base version of SC2 is free now, but is that enough?
Or do we get the battlecruiser pet completely for free?
