Telstra ANZ Latency issues - 4/17-4/22

Technical Support
Hey folks,

We've been getting a number reports of people having issues going through Telstra nodes showing issues in this thread. Currently we're working on the issue with the affected ISP but need more data. Can we have anybody affected by this run a traceroute or winMTR while the issue is actively happening? If you post the results in this thread we can hopefully help get this resolved.

In the mean time, some users have been able to use a VPN to work around the instability.
I've just heard from Blizz CS, the more winMTRs the better and they have started gathering them (and posted!) here: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/d3/topic/20762317662?page=3#post-41

So if anyone else having this issue can post them please do.

(This is my personal thought not what they told me, but I think it's basically so they can say 'oi telstra look at all these people showing the same bad results with your network, fix it!')
Can we have anybody affected by this run a traceroute or winMTR while the issue is actively happening?

All too happy to help. Here's another set of results. We were doing 4man GR85s just then and I got two instances of huge lag spikes during this period. Both instances required me to to exit the game client all together in order to rejoin. Both spikes should be captured in the data below.

I'll run this later when I'm on.

Thanks folks for the info. Good to see communication from tech support too. Massive thanks to Narull too.

Question. We have quite a few who would run the background querry but these clansfolk are HC players. If they test for Blizz and their toon dies would you look at roll backs for them or just recommend they don't test for now?

Lastly, will you post on here to keep us in the loop so players will know when it's best to log on. Some of us are HC players and the lag spikes are not fun to find out about the hard way.

Thanks y'all.
I wouldn't take the risk for HC because I can't say if Blizz would rollback (kinda unlikely honestly, they generally pretty strict on that).

And if I hear about it being fixed I'll post, it's just such a wait for telstra thing I can't guarantee anything.
Yupo good input Narull.

I have a SC toon so I'll run that. Yeah if you can post if you hear anything that would be ace. I'll then post in the Facebook page too.

Cheers mate. 100% Appreciated

Yeah, we're gonna have to sit in SC land for a while. Nick's got a SC toon too and the SC folk are more than happy to carry in GR80+ so your paragons should go back to something decent quickly. The lag is still frustrating but at least we don't lose all our progress.

Big thumbs up to Narull as well and also Drakuloth for looking into this on a weekend too!
I use Telstra as my ISP thru their default POS modem. Getting 1,500 - 2,000+ m/s in game just a couple of minutes prior to running this test.
I'll try playing the game some more and when it lags, I'll run the test again and edit.

@Narull

I understand, but I'm actually residing in a country in SEA, which means I'd have another layer of ISP to contend with (and to my dismay, it usually never works out with the ISP at my end), and thus I hope that telsra gets their part going fine.

In any case, here's my traceroute for today:

(I noticed the jump from 17x ms to 2xx ms in telstra too)

EDIT: While I'm still in the game, my in-game latency fluctuates between 17x ms to 28x ms.

EDIT2: Now it's between 26x ms to 35x ms.
I was playing D3 on and off last night (the odd rift makes for a nice break when doing other stuff like updating finances, etc) and didn't get one lag spike. I hope that means Telstra have sorted out their node issues.
Hey again all,

Sorry for the continued delays on this. We know this is impacting a lot of you, but it's outside of our server architecture so we can't just pick up a hammer and fix it directly ourselves. Telstra/Equinix are working on this now and we've forwarded a bunch of the data you all have been so kind as to provide.

There's no ETA on a fix, but I wanted to let you know people are in talks on this and the information provided is helping. We hope to help get this resolved ASAP.

Yep - big thanks for all the carrys Mugsy - still to get fully geared to run anything past t4 atm... 2 piece rolands will not be enough me thinks
Hey Nick, I can dust off my season sader if you need a boost for gear. I hardly play nowadsays, but don't mind helping you out.
I'm guessing those of us who just lost our HC character from a DC just have to start over again from scratch?
Cheers for the update Drak.

Guess it's back to beer pong for now.

Correct. They do not restore HC characters for any reason. The issue is not even a Blizzard issue, it is an ISP issue (Telestra). Blizzard can't fix it for them.
Any confirmation if this has been fixed or not? After dying on 2 fully kitted HC characters I've avoided playing the last 2 days. But my brother has been playing all day today without any lag.
Took the gamble on HC tonight. DC'd twice in town and with a clanny to save my butt lol.

Telstra, please pull your finger out. Game is a ghost town.
Hi there friends,

We have word that this problem should be improved. Please post back if things are better and if not post a new WinMTR?

Thanks for working with us to get this resolved!
