Crash while walking in town

Technical Support
I had just finished a regular Rift and I was just walking around town when suddenly the app crashed with this reference number: 8B26F0EA-0086-4D36-82D5-FE2B01C070AB
I have the latest Nvidia Drivers for my 1070 Ti, which I got only 2 weeks ago, I haven't seen other crashes, and performance is good during Heaven 4.0 benchmark with no artifacts or crashes, however yesterday I also saw a weird partial black screen, which seems to be something hanging from the dungeon level in a Greater Rift, as I was able to reproduce it by walking back and forth in the same spot and I have never seen it in any other spots, with different angles of the black part, it definitely seems to move based on perspective but its all black. I took several screenshots. Other than that I haven't seen anything weird, I am playing at 8X Multialising if that is relevant. See this photos for reference: as soon as I moved even a tiny bit the black portion would be gone:

Thank you!

Edit: fixed selective startup link.

Thank you for the quick reply!, the link is to the secondary logon service is that what you meant to link?. I played quite a bit yesterday and didn't run into any issues. What do you think about those black parts in the dungeon, is there a good way to send you the screenshot of how it looks?

Thank you,
-Oscar

It might be more helpful if you posted your DxDiag information that Zuvykree requested. (Please paste the information within code tags to prevent a huge wall-of-text).

I made a new thread because I am getting random complete freezes now, but it keeps getting deleted. Here it is:

I've had this problem before where everything would completely stop including sound, movement, mouse and keyboard. However I have since upgraded my 7200 rpm HD to a Samsung 860 SSD Evo, my ATI 7850 HD to a 1070 Ti, and my i5 2500K stock cooler to a Noctua NH-C14S cooler. I did these upgrades about 3 weeks ago, except for the cooler which I did yesterday. I haven't had time to play much, but this weekend I had some time and I started to see this random freezes again. They don't really happen during intense battles, they can happen while just walking in town or at the very beginning of a Rift, I've never had it happen during an intense battle

I play with all graphic option set to Max, including 8X Anti-aliasing, I get 60 fps for the most part except during very intense battles where it drops to 40s. I play at 1080 p resolution. Complete setup:

Asus Maximus IV Gene/gen-z motherboard
i5 2500k 3.3 Ghz @ 3.7Ghz turbe enabled - No OC yet
Noctua nh-c14s cooler - going to OC soon
Nvidia 1070 Ti
16 GB Ram
Samsung 860 SSD Evo 512 GB
Windows 7

I have the latest Nvidia drivers, and I re-seated it just in case yesterday while installing the Noctua cooler. I have been monitoring my temps with RealTempGT and GPU-Z, Video card had a max temp of 46, while CPU had a max temp of 47 in 1 core, the rest 46 and 45. I ran Unigine Heaven benchmark again with everything on Max and got a 2512 score, no issues or stuttering. I also ran Prime95 in blend mode for 4 hours yesterday no errors, and max temp reported was 57C in one core only.

Coincidentally the first time I noticed this, BitDefender was running an update, I looked at the events, and no other events for the past 2 months. I also just ran a full system scan just in case and found 0 issues, earlier today I also re-installed it. I have the Protection set to ON, but I just turned it OFF just in case. This is the first time in 3 weeks I have played for over an hour, and the first time I see these issues with the new upgraded equipment. It is important to note when I upgraded the hard drive I just cloned everything into it, I did not reinstall Windows 7.

I have also just changed the Power saving mode to performance. I have only noticed issues in Diablo 3. What could be the problem?
Howdy!

With the number of upgrades you did in a short period of time I would recommend to reinstall Windows over cloning as traces of past hardware drivers and configurations may still be around causing conflicts.
I reinstalled windows, then installed the latest Nvidia drivers followed by the Latest Samsung 860 SSD drivers, and installed Diablo 3 only, nothing else. I got a freeze lasting 4 seconds within 20 minutes of game play... I then installed Guild Wars 2, and played it for 1.5 hours and saw no issues at all, just like before. What could be the issue?

I just had it happen a bunch more times... 2 times in a row it happened when someone joined the game in the same town I was, as they were joining it froze for 1-2 seconds, then as we entered the rift right as I started walking freeze for 3 seconds.... I then opened communities and partial freeze (I could move mouse but nothing else) this one lasted like 6-8 seconds. The other freezes not even the mouse worked. It normally doesn't happen since I played for a good 2.5 hours and it only happened those 3 times but still that is a lot for 1 day. Never have problems during intense battles, seems to always be just in town or beginning or Rift. I have everything installed in the Samsung SSD 860 with the latest drivers in a Sata 6GB port. I am using Windows 7 64 bits and have set the Power Options to High Performance. Other games have no issues at all.

On another note I am in 10 big communities always connected to chat, I've heard this can cause issues?
Howdy!

The goal here is to look for the bottle neck that is causing the system to be delayed. The source could be thermal, power delivery or conflict. I believe the best battle plan would be the following steps:

1) We should ensure your FPS is limited to the refresh of the monitor. Goto Options -> Video -> Check: Max Foreground FPS -> Set this to 60. Enable Vertical Sync. For now lower your settings(For testing) See if the issue gets' better or worse.

2) Check the 32bit client to see if the issue continues or not: Select the Blizzard logo at the top right of the Blizzard app. Drop down to Settings -> Game Settings -> Find the Diablo III Section -> Check: Launch 32bit Client (Instead of 64-bit). Does this make the issue worse or better?

3) Run HWmonitor while the game is running when the issue occurs screenshot your CPU and GPU temperatures. You can upload them to a site like Imgur.com and post the link back here.

4) Run a WinMTR to host IP: 24.105.30.129 in the background. You could do this with step 3.

Thank you!
Hello,

I already had vertical sync enabled and limited to 60 fps, I disabled High Performance and went back to balanced since I saw no difference yesterday with High Performance. I decided to just use the normal client with my normal Max Graphics to see full HWMonitor for everything.

I had used this program before, since I Overclocked my CPU and did the Prime 95 testing just before yesterday's play session where I had additional freezes. The CPU is now running at 4.1 Ghz, and Prime max reported temp in 1 core was 68, after 5 hours 13 mins of Blend Torture test (also linking screenshot of this for reference but using CoreTemp).

I played for 2 hours straight, and I surprisingly saw 0 freezes.... I sawone fps drop from 60 to 30 while entering the first Grift of the night but that was it. There was micro stuttering where FPS stays at 60 but I can tell there is micro stuttering, this has always happened too. I had HWMonitor active the entire time, and I am linking the 2 parts of it since it was too big, and I didn't want to make it smaller and make it less readable. Admittedly for the first part of HWMonitor it was only the last 30 minutes, after playing 1.5 hours I took 2 screenshots but without saving... so I only got the second part, I noticed that the max Temp was max 54 C for one core for the first part and utilization MAX was 92-97% between the cores. In this last half hour these numbers were lower but still attaching for reference. I forgot to run WinMTR while playing also but I will do this tomorrow.

I definitely think the problem is still there, just somehow during this 2 hours it did not happen, the only thing different is that I went straight to Grifts with the same group, not much walking in town at all. Everything was smooth during grifts, minus the micro stuttering while walking in town, but again never during high Load in battles, those are actually really smooth, despite FPS dipping to 40s for a few seconds when everything is lured in the Grift.

The second hard drive (WDC WD5000) is from where I cloned to the SSD originally, right now its not being used at all, only the Samsung is being used and has Windows 7 installed and the Diablo 3.

Here are the 3 images including Prime95 which was run at 4.2 Ghz, I then dropped to 4.1 Ghz while keeping the same voltage just in case, so temps are actually a little lower even under Prime95, while gaming max was 54C.

First image was last 30 minutes of gaming, second image first 1.5 hours, third image just 5 hours of Prime95 for reference.
