Reasons D2 > D3

General Discussion
Xtimus recently made a video that shows point by point why D3 is not a worthy successor of D2:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHxyngNvUhM

A lot of things make sense, and I really hope they bring back in D4 the elements that made D2 a great game, even though I don't believe it will happen. The Blizzard of today is not the same we knew in the old days, something has been lost...
What a joke. Starts off by saying this isn't a video to bash D3 then proceeds to do just that
And then tells at least one lie, states there is no single player, so please enlighten me as to if I'm in a private game with just myself in it and no one else can join that it isn't single player
Also states that D2 players hate D3, well I'm sorry but I'm a D2 player that plays D3 as well and don't hate D3.
It depends on the player honestly, I rather like D3 more than D2.
He did good points. Diablo 3 """innovation""" was just take stuff from generic mmo like everyone at max level, cooldown, gear determining an build instead of enhancing it, weapons being the most important part of the gear, etc, etc, etc and d3 abandoned most of things that aRPG fans in general like.
D2 is.loved by nostalgia babies that refuse to move on. That's the only fact here

The fact is they did move on... from D3 and made another game the most active on the market. They just wonder when the AAA developer with the iconic IP will stop designing their games for actual babies that lack the mental development to deal with choices and consequences.

Because not everyone is a sweaty nerd living off their parents. Because, not everyone has time to deal with changes made by Blizzard after they change/nerf builds.

Building a hero in D2, then having the numbers/functionality changed, and having to start over is what turned me off of D2. Sorry, but I didn't have time to relevel my hero, I had a newborn.

I used to really like both games, having played both for countless hours. But the continual "water torture" of D2 cheerleading/D3 denigrating on this forum has gradually lowered my impressions of D2 far below what they were before I started visiting here. Now, when I hear D2 mentioned, it summons up images of obnoxious elitism rather than fun and adventure.

I just wish Blizzard would either give the D2 fans their own subforum where they could run wild or allow us to somehow filter out all posts about D2 here on D3 General Discussion.

Ofc playing D2 nowadays is a rustic experience. But the problem is that a sucessor should improve its predecessor in every single aspect and, D3, while having improvements over D2, it also had involutions, and that's something not acceptable.

Itemization depth or character customization as examples. D3 has less of those 2, even despite of the later improvements. So that's not just nostaliga.
As a long time D2 player I don't hate D3. Just am neutral towards it. After a long gameplay you play a burnout in D3 eventually while there were diverse gameplay in D2. I didn't watch the video but knowing d2 fanboys I dont expect to see accurate remarks.
D2 gameplay is horrible. It really is horrible, especially in battle.net as a melee. The skillsystem is outdated, too (I like the trees but I don't like the fact you can't change it once the points are put in). Besides that, the game doesn't really feel rewarding. On the other hand you get too much stuff in D3.

D2 was one of the best games back in the days but compared to modern games it performs not so well.

A mix between D2 and D3 would be nice. I think that's what they actually tried when D3 came out but somehow managed to **** it up.
Another boomer ranting about how much better it was in the old days of d2 (it wasn't).

Boring.
You can re-spec your skill tree in D2. So those choices aren't permanent.

They already have one, they just haven't figured out how to it. Or they are trolls.

lol ...yeah that's some great logic there. You want to deal with a scummy little kid, and pretend you are too cool for nerd games, so lets reduce RPGS down to bland repetitive mainstream trash so you don't have to devote any time or thought to them......

No wonder this game sucks so bad....catering to people like you....

You actually can respecialise your hero in D2.
It was added in patch v1.13c back in 2010.

Any "friend" can join your game, even on private..
Besides that, we still need to be online, we still have LAG, even playing private..
Theres no true single player on this game, it was designed that way to prevent hacking, and they did.

Not without asking for an invite and me allowing them in

The problem is there, in the URL: "legacy". Making a statement at a legacy forum is like speaking alone at your room.

I understand that anyone liking D3 can find annoying when people attacks his game and tries to change it in another way that you don't like, but the same applies for the opposite, as the ones who enjoyed D2 felt that exact feeling.

The problem is always the same: Blizzard made 2 different games for different tastes, but "forgot" (COUGH! marketing COUGH!) to use a different name for each, creating another Eternal Conflict, but this time not inside the game but in the community. So whatever is announced at Blizzcon will be a huge letdown for half of the community.
