Over 7000 players online right now.
Thats a little bit more than a handful.

Comparatively speaking, that's a tiny number of players. Even if a Diablo 2 remaster sold 10x that number, it would be considered a flop.

6950 of those players are most certainly bots as well.

So unless bots are now able to purchase copies of games....you get the point :)
Sounds like a decent consolation prize for no D4 this year...that's exactly why it's fake.

LOL.

There's a reason why Blizzard doesn't show all of the D3 players online.

Make it 6999. Their playerbase must be low enough. It's not like those bots don't make any profit from other players anyway. After 2 decades, it peaks at 20k at the era start and only retained a good third of player base after months.
Meanwhile D3 is clean of bots because there's no trading and no underground market for D3. And it's not like you can compare google analytics and Steam to bring up a comparable graphic to its nearest rival to get an idea about active playerbase in D3.
Makes perfect sense from a fanboy aspect.

you claiming that D3 is clean of bots shows how obliviouse you are, try joining a general chat and just watch how often ad bots there is for power lvling and high GR farming
I hate to explain punchlines over and over.

Comparatively in relation to what?

7000 players online close to the end of a season and a much larger active player base is pretty impressive for a game that is nearly 2 decades old and has to compete with a sequel and many other newer games of the same genre.

Also your estimation of 70,000 sold copies is merely hypothetical and without any foundation.
Old but popular games don't even need a huge active player base for a remaster to be successful.

Just look at the AoE 2 HD Remaster: The active player base was nearly dead when it was released, yet it sold over 3 million copies (as of 2016), got 3! new expansions and now has an active competitive scene with tournaments and prize money on a regular base.

It is also worth to take a look at the viewer numbers on Twitch.
Right now D3 has ~1,000 viewers and 1,126,414 followers while D2 has ~250 viewers and 226,446 followers.

A D2 Remaster has a lot of potential and that is why Blizzard is going to make it happen.
D2 is old news, why would anyone want to play an old game, even if it somehow is remastered and looks like it's a 2010 game.
D4 is the only good news possible.

Who knows if stuff like this is true or just click bait?

We'll all know soon enough I guess.

To bite though... druid makes sense if they want to excite players to buy the Switch version etc. Also it may keep D3 players going until that D4 announcement.

Whether or not it is click bait is something that a little investigation would bring out. You have to check the source of the info. Then figure out how reliable are they as far as giving out good info compared to offering nothing but a bunch of BS. When you know that then you can figure out if they are telling the truth or not. Add in other questions of how logical does the information sound compared to what we know.
New Class (Druid) without balancing will be useless. Instead of a new class, balancing ALL SETS would have given more diversity than just adding another unbalaned hero (where you can probably play just 1 set if you want to run higher GRs)

Do you really think that Blizzard is capable of balancing all the sets NOW? They failed in the past and with another class it will be even harder.
