What was THAT???

General Discussion
Does anybody know the purpose for the black image that flashes past us when we're transitioning from one page to another on this forum? (Black image on the usually blindingly white transition window.) I was able to grab it with print screen, but the image makes no sense to me.
It’s a blizzard subliminal message. It you watch enough it shows “we are screwed” lol

I guess you are using Chrome. There was a thread discussing this topic on Tech. Support forum recently: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/d3/topic/20771057257
It was just a ghost.

I don't think this is the same thing. The site is working, it's jut a flicker on initially loading/transitioning through pages.

And the answer is that these are dynamically generated vectors, as opposed to static images, and because they're high up in the page (which makes sense since they're related to structure, not content) they take precedence when loading, hence you see these drawn for a moment all amalgamated together, which just so happens to look like something shaped that way on purpose. It is incidental.

When more of the page loads and styles and such, they all slot into their respective place in the background as part of the structure.

If you look at he source and check out the paths, you can remove the drawings one by one: https://imgur.com/a/BBaxCRy

A hollow Blizzard logo without shadows or colorized as a result it's only pitch black. But since page layout gets messy on page transitioning and loading, all letters topple on each other. That's why you see it as a black tribal figured mess.

We are talking about the same thing. See Timberwolf's video at 0:06 and 0:11.

It being a number of images makes sense with the way the image I captured appeared. It doesn't look like there are a bunch of meaningful images there though. Maybe one or two with a larger image placed over the smaller ones blocking most, but not all of them out. Like, what's that tentical or whisker doing on the left side??? The damn thing will probably have the blocking image removed next week exposing a horrid demon, the likes of which we've never seen!

Yes, I'm running chrome. Best browser I've ever used as far as speed and stability are concerned. Took me years to bite the bullet and load it on my machine, but since I did, I won't use anything else.

Seems the Green Lantern is making his mark on the forums?

We weren't discussing which browser is better on the other thread.

The black image is the icons used in the forum, overlaps together. They are vector graphics rather than GIF. The screenshoot in eitherxor's post showed the definition of the vectors. I'm sure there are some codes to scale the vectors and gives position and color to show them on the web page later, but I don't bother to dig them out.

Actually, I don't think there is much to talk about how a brower work in a game forum.
It's new. It happens on my home PC and work laptop. I do use chrome on both however but it didn't happen until recently on both. I'll take a look at that link for a solution. Thanks.

I wonder if it happens on your phones?

I was able to decipher it and what I got was a barb whirlwinding thru a mob of enemies while dual wielding credit cards. Hype train in full force for their new "game" release.

Looks like background item placeholders. Like some sort of graphic goes in the top, then you would have the text, etc. But then, who knows?

As for the flashing white screen behind the forum when you transition pages, that has been there forever. You can minimize it somewhat by choosing a background color other than white in the respective browser settings, but that will affect ALL websites, and those that use the background color as part of the webpage will suddenly be a dark mode that may not look right. lol

Game on.
Happens in Firefox too. It's been there for a long time now. Looks like someone used MS Paint and made a random black splotch. Maybe it was meant as a canary for debugging?
